  • I have an insane love and appreciation for the kidneys :)

  • How much do kidneys cost nowadays?

  • @Zidanicks depends where u get them. i hear estonia will fetch $80,000 while walmart, with its rollback of prices, sells them for merely $1,750.00

  • @Zidanicks Kidney transplants cost nearly 100 thousand dollars. Put your question in that perspective, but I wouldn't put a price on the kidney itself.

  • mother nature is so perfect... (well, sometimes she makes mistakes too... but, most of the time she is.)

  • @alan838 yeah even no scientist has been able to beat mother nature's design she is perfect indeed :)

  • Thanks now I understand what the renal pelvis actually functions as. I did not know that it acted as a sort of funnel which funnels urine into the muscular tube (ureter). I believe If Im not correct urine moves down the ureter by waves of contractions or peristalsis into the kidney and that once its in the urinary bladder a valve shuts off the backflow of urine into the ureter and kidney. And if urine were to flow back into the ureter and kidney an infection of the kidney can result.

  • Well, kidneys can break too?

  • But they don't 99.9% of the time, and its still considered unhealthy??

  • @1091Floyd21 The chance you'll get cancer from smoking isn't that big either. They just don't want you to get it eitherway. And kidneys are quite more vital, considering you poison yourself if you butcher them by overdriving. :D

  • You say kidneys "are quite more vital"; Quite more vital than what??

What did I even say about cancer in the first place??

You say "They" don't want me to get cancer?? Who's they??

  • They's the government, who makes cigarettes so expensive. :3

And well, it was just an example. Demolishing your kidneys or getting lung cancer is both kinda bad.

  • There are no degrees of "vitalness".

Either an organ is vital or it isn't. If you loose both kidneys you die, if you loose your lungs you die, and so on. Neither is more or less important.

  • Yeah, I realized that after re-reading, too.

  • thank you for this video, its very helpful. And its definetley even more helpful that you've putten up the text as well! thanks again! :)

  • hydrangea root and marshmellow root have been proven to relieve pain assoc. with kidney stones within minutes, and will dissolve most stones within a few days for only about $25 dollars,, u decide

  • great! and thanks for putting the text up as well! :)

  • i have test in biology tommorow!!! save meeeeee =[[[[[

  • Drinking water is a good thing for Kidneys.

    Doctor Randah.

  • Dude plz dont state the obvious...

drinking water is a good thing for the whole body...

  • wish we had these videos 53 years ago when I was doing anatomy, the D.R. room, with its slate slabs and dissected bodies, was nowhere near as instructional as these.

  • How is further waste material secreted into the proximal/distal convoluted tubules? Is it by diffusion through the side from capillaries? I though that all waste material had to pass through the Bowman's capsule?

  • excellant review for nurses who left the field and came back.

  • awesome audio and video lectures on:

    account: o2demand

  • thanks dr lecter

  • @TalkingPixiesHeads yes he would now about kidney's wouldn't he mmmmmmmmmmmmm :DD

  • in general cortex has glomerelus while medulla has loop and collecting ducts. you can see the whole thing as starting from the border and ending at the pelvis.

  • well, just that portion, to be fair =D

  • This is fail. its wrong. the arrow for the renal pelvis is pointing at where the minor calyx should be. From the collecting ducts it goes first to the minor calyx, then to the major calyx which is at the center (near the hilum) of the kidney... and THEN to the renal pelvis, which is technically at the beginning of the ureter (almost outwith the kidney)

  • where is vesa recta? guess!

  • Thanks this is useful

I have an anatomy exam on sunday :$

  • im studying anatomy.. ! found this useful!

  • this is a good one if you're in a human anatomy class...or just want to know how a kidney works!

  • finally, a sweet kidney video on youtube
