Motor trend september 1992 vol. 44 no.9 the foxbody lx 5.0 mustang weighed in at 2834 pounds. The foxbody has a bad suspenion, the sold axel is bad on rough pavement thats why i said it would do better at the track where the surface is smooth.

  • I'm guess the Mustang is about 215-230 HP. thats about 180-200 HP tops to the wheels. The vette has 350 HP{345 if its an 97-2000} about 310-325 to the wheels. not to mention. Vettes lighter too so its no shock it dominated. props to the Mustang owner for willing to race.{know he had no shot.}

A stock C5 aint that fast. I have a video (if you click on my username) of me racing a modded 6 speed C5 at the dragstrip and his light comes on only a split second before mine at the end, and we left at the same time. I didn't have bottle at that time so it was all motor. Have a look.

They're running Methanol and huge beefed mods that kill the car faster than anything else, including the failed drivetrain risk which can lead to wipeout on the track. Smart Vette conniseurs don't mess up their cars as bad as stupid Rustang mullet owners do.

  • The mustang 2 in the 70s,the comet/maverick and pinto were all the same car. The fox mustangs and fairmonts of the 80s were the same car. The basic platform is what I'm referring to. Chevelle,Cutlass,LeMans,Skylar­ks are the same platform ( A bodies). The original mustang was built off the falcon. You do your research.

  • Basic platform doesn mean anything. Its the powerplant and other components. Hell the corvette and a catty have the same frame but they are two completly different cars. The mustang two was a skidmark i agree but that doesn't change the face of mustang at all. It was something to deal with emissions.

  • The 454 Chevelle was one of the slower cars on a speed challenge. Plus a 3.31 12 bold doesn't mean speed. Strength yes. They used an auto. I don't think any of them are slow. I have respect for everything but I do believe ford did just fine. I am a huge mustang fan and I have family members that have had 81' camaro, 86 Iroc Z, and 77 L82 Corvette. I drive a 91 mustang. Just remember that the mustang was cheaper with a great powerplant. Also it attracted Shelby. You can do more with anything.

  • a heads/cam 5.0 will make around 260-275whp with a fair tune. that c5 was a z06. c5 z06's are around 3200lbs and put around 360 to the wheels stock. gt fox bodies are around the same weight, so you do the math.

  • C5Z06 has 50/50 wieght, 405hp, 6 speed, better MPG, and dominates S2000s in drag race or on a road course. Japan has never sold a single production car in America faster than my 6 year old Z06. And it was made in the USA, not Mexico.

And by the time it comes out, so will the SS, Z07, blue devil, whatever it's called with a 6.2 making 650hp. It will destroy the NSX for far less money. AGIAN. At least Honda figured out that little motors don't cut it and stepped up to something with more than 6 cylinders and more that 5 liters. They are learning.

  • Break what? Friend runs Heads and cam, dynoed 429rwhp and it's his daily driver. Twin Turbos make them dyno 600rwhp with just plugs, injectors, pump and a tune. Can be daily driven(though a bit too fast for most people...)

    The LS series motors are beasts. 6 bolt mains and supporting 600+rwhp on stock internals.
