Also Rod or stick does mean in this case the record of two nations which the chapter explains. Really I challenge you to read it, look for truth and understanding not proof of something. You're putting something there that is not there.
Wow, do you read this and really think it predicted the BOM? Did you read the whole chapter or just hear this one verse? Read all of Chapter 37 it goes on and explains that the sticks are literally nations of Isreal that come together. IN ISREAL!!!!! Stop taking thins out of context to prove your false teachings please. There is no validity in that logic. Like going to McD's and saying mmm big mac, im hungry its free!!!! but if you read the whole menu its not.
How much do we judge by race, gender, status, social class or education? If we do it even once, it is too much. How many times do we 'pass by on the other side', from someone in need when we could have helped?
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
And for the precious things of the earth and fulness thereof, and for the good will of him that dwelt in the bush: let the blessing come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren. Deuteronomy 33:13-17 respectively...
The Stick of Joseph refers to that record which should come from the "seed...or descendants of Joseph" It was not found in the Bible. The Bible was primarily written and kept by the Jews. Great were the promises made to Joseph in his patriarchal blessing; (See Genesis 49:22-26) and Ezekiel prophesied that a record should come from Joseph's descendants. We know this record now as, "The Book of Mormon" having been recorded by members of Israel living upon the Isles of the Sea.
The seed of Joseph, or his legacy, would live on in his seed and eventually he would be the one who should save mankind ALSO from the famine. (Amos 8:11) through that book, which is called "The Book of Mormon" for they TRULY were descendants of Joseph, the same Joseph that saved Israel and Egypt from the famine! But he also saves countless millions from the famine, today... if they should JUST stretch forth their hand!
"Yea, every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess before him. Yea, even at the last day, when all men shall stand to be judged of him, then shall they confess that he is God; then shall they "
The inner end of the same roll, (Joseph's record,) presents a representation of the judgment: At one view you behold the Savior seated upon his throne, crowned, and holding the sceptres of righteousness and power, before whom also, are assembled the twelve tribes of Israel, the nations, languages and tongues of the earth, the kingdoms of the world over which satan is represented as reigning
Michael the archangel, holding the key of the bottomless pit, and at the same time the devil as being chained and shut up in the bottomless pit. But upon this last scene, I am able only to give you a shadow, to the real picture. I am certain it cannot be viewed without filling the mind with awe, unless the mind is far estranged from God: and I sincerely hope, that mine may never go so far estray, nor wander from those rational principles of the doctrine of our Savior
Its amazing how the second dream of Joseph was a type set of the "GREAT" famine which should come upon the Land (Amos 8:11) and how by the seed of Joseph, we would then have the Book of Mormon... and by this, it would explain Joseph's second dream... the sun, moon and stars bowed down to Joseph and so would the world. Not only the family of Jacob, Israel or those adopted into the family, but also the world one day would benefit from the Book of Mormon coming forth!
The sun, moon and stars typically meant the 3 degrees of Glory, as mentioned in the Bible.
The Glory of the Sun, the glory of the Moon, the Glory of the Stars each with their degrees of Glory.
My epiphany of these three elements of Joseph's dream is that there will come a day where ALL, no matter which Glory they should attain, their knees shall bow and tongue confess that The Bible and Joseph's record, or the Book of Mormon, are true. (See Rom. 14: 11, Mosiah 27:31)
It is my testimony that we have the record of the seed of Joseph... for if this record were to have been discovered by the Bible, Jesus Christ would have said, "Do we not have the record of Joseph among us? For it hath been said of Ezekiel that Joseph would surely write and has written and it has become one in our hands" not much is mentioned save the house if Israel being scattered/found upon the Isles of the sea. Prophets don't only see "decades" into the future but centuries!
While the Book of Abraham was translated and published in the Times and Seasons in 1842, Joseph never got around to translating the Book of Joseph. No such authenticated manuscript exists.
Or even when records are brought forth from the other 10 tribes of Israel? They couldn't deny then, could they? Jesus Is the Christ! They are his words and we follow them. We also follow his prophet; his authorized representative on the earth for he can not always be here. For there are worlds many and God is the ruler of them all. He authorizes representatives to do his will!
THELDS: Many opponents will still say the Book of Lehi is fake, especially if they don't take the time to prayerfully read & compare it to the BoM & the Bible. Many ppl who refute the BoM now have never read it. A lot of them go by what they've read abt the Church and by hearsay. : )
Too, by the time the records of the 10 Lost Tribes are revealed the world will be in such a disheveled state, with the millions of the TLTs marching down from the N.countries by the millions. It will be quite evident that something significant is happening. Will they be fleeing from their enemies in Europe-the NWO? I've had this idea for yrs that the TLTs are mainly those ppl of the former USSR block who are now becoming increasingly Christian after living for decades under an Atheistic regime.
@Yunginspirit I am one who has read it and the BIBLE, the Bible teach's dont trust your heart, so basing the truth off of a burning in the chest is a bad idea according to the Bible, but what else are you gonna base it off of? there is no proof. Ezekiel was talking about two nations of Isreal not books. Read the whole chapter 37. You will see that it is taken very far out of context.
@blckchrysda: Well, the burning feeling in the 'bossom/breast (witness of the Holy Ghost) I'd describe as not a physical feeling like in the sense heartburn or such...it is something else yet so undeniable. Similar to when the Spirit touches ones mind...like a little, harmless bolt of lightning...prinng!-it's an unearthly feeling understandably so, because it's of the Spirit, from God...the "witness" He promised us if we ask with pure intent and with a sincere heart to know the Truth.
blckchry: Ezkiel is not just 'referring to'the 2 nations, he is exhorting them to keep records, to write their history for their posterity. EZK 16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, & WRITE UPON IT, For Judah & for the children of Israel his companions: then take ANOTHER stick, and WRITE UPON IT, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim & for all the house of Israel his companions: Cont:
@Yunginspirit really? they are not literally sticks. Why would they right on sticks. Think old scrolls rolled up they called those sticks literally look it up. and he is referring to two nations keeping records, nations of ISREAL the north and south and they came together, then the Babylon empire struck. Do you read the Bible in context or hold on to verses and split hairs? read with real intent search for truth and understanding not for proof of something.
@blckchry: "Anciently, a typical roll of parchment was usually constructed of papyrus sheets of varying quality. The best sheets would be used for its ends, since they received the most wear and tear, and lesser quality sheets for its inner sections. To add additional strength ...a strip of papyrus would be glued along the ends of the roll. @blckchrysda: Cont...17 "And JOIN them one to another into one stick & they shall become 'one' in thine hand."
In ancient days records were written on long scrolls & rolled around sticks made especially for that purpose. Note too that the two sticks (or books/records) were referred to as being "joined" together, not added together or added upon. : )
@Yunginspirit If i said they were added together or added upon sorry. But Ezekiel is talking about two nations coming together the north and south and they did. Then i think the Babylon Empire came through and messed things up. there is no double meaning here. He literally was talking about two nations, keep reading just a bit further and you will see.
NOT PROOF OF THE BOM. sorry.
Like i have said many times before, search for truth and understanding not for proof of something.
Proof comes just the same as proof for the Bible. It comes by a "witness of the holy spirit."
I find that most people who belong to ANY church will accept the Bible based on culture, their pastor, etc when, in reality, there has been no archeological proof that an Exodus occurred, no historical documents to prove that Joseph, a Hebrew, was 2nd in command under Pharaoh, no Mt. Sanai location etc but we're willing to believe in the words of Moses written 4000 years ago anyway?
I am sorry this is the third or fourth time i have seen you trying to literally disprove the Bible by Belief. This cannot be shown to be an accurate statement as the the Bible is true so are its contents are true. If its contents are true and you believe they prove the BoM then please show me where?!?!?!?
@blckchr: It OK, I only mentioned "added upon" because some non-LDS refer to the BoM as being "added to' the Bible, which is the wrong term to use. : ) Ezk is referring to the 2 records being 'joined' together. (The BoM & the Bible.) And Yes, I agree with the '2 Nations coming together' bit, also that when Ezk (speaking for the Lord) refers to 'writing a record,' he means it literally. The Prophet/recorders listened, thus we have the record of the Holy Bible today because of their obedience.
I would have to respectfully disagree, in the Bible says in Rev 22:17-22 do not add. and as this verse when taken out of context can be proven to show the BoM and the Bible comming together but when read in context its talking only about the two nations coming together. So in that sense i would say the BoM adds to the Bible. But kudos on the Prophets listening thats true, we can read it today same as 2500 years ago.
@Yunginspirit then am i adding or taking away from what is being said in the Bible? I need to ask your opinion on this, not me telling you. I have read those verses many times. I emplore you to read them, and read them like a 8 year old who is seeing them for the first time, clear your mind and your heart. Pray that God will show you what is there.
@Yunginspirit There is no mention of one of the books falling away from the other to become lost. After the two nations become one, this is proven historically the Babylon empire came in and kicked them out. Are you adding meaning to these verses?
@blckchrysda He is NOT adding meaning to those verses. Here's what Ezekiel 37:16-17 says in The Revised English Bible: ‘O man, take one leaf of a wooden tablet and write on it, “Judah and the Israelites associated with him”. Then take another leaf and write on it, “Joseph, the leaf of Ephraim and all the Israelite tribes”. Now bring the two together to form one tablet; then they will be a folding tablet in your hand.
It's the Authorized Version that renders those verses wrongly.
@LDSfaithDefender ok im sorry you seem to not have studied this very much. Yung has it pretty close. the stick would be there form of paper rolled around a piece of wood to add rigidity so it wouldn't become folded. Im not saying Yung is adding only in the sense the LDS teaching of this goes beyond the Bible for it's explanation. The Bible provides the explanation of these verses as well as written and recorded history all these coincide, its not referring to Bible+BOM.
By adding to what Ezk is talking about the LDS belief of this chapter is being added to. He doesnt talk about two comming together then one being lost he talks about two becoming one, the Babylon comes and rains on the parade later. no lost one book/record/prophets refference
The stick of Judah (Jesus) DID re-unite with the stick of Joseph! Jesus and Joseph are two of the most contrasted people in the Bible! The tribe of Judah was lost due to it's iniquities and was restored when it raised the branch of righteousness (Jesus). This prophecy is about the New Covenant, not the book of Mormon.
With a prophet of the Lord, all things are understood. Without the Bible, the book of Mormon would not be... and without the Book of Mormon, many prophecies would go by the wayside as well... many of which were made by Isaiah.
What an amazing video! It explains things so well!
I hadn't made the connection after all my years in the church that the Book of Mormon was of another tribe! I always thought that Lehi came with his family from Jerusalem and somehow was also a Jew! Why don't other people read this book for themselves? They tell me that they don't want to read it because its evil! Are people really this ignorant??? They sound like my kids who don't want to eat the food that I make for them it they'd only try!
Agreed! People need to know what this Book is and how inseparably connected it is with the Bible, the House of Jacob and the prophecies of Isaiah.
For Isaiah to mention the inhabitants of the Isles of the sea for no particular reason would be ignorance on the part of those that read it! The house of Israel should be scattered. One must not suppose that God could not have caused more to be written other than the "Stick of Judah" which we now know as, A Bible... or Library of Prophecy.
the bible is translated incorrectly and I don't trust it any more, I will believe the b of m now.
