The Stick of Joseph refers to that record which should come from the "seed...or descendants of Joseph" It was not found in the Bible. The Bible was primarily written and kept by the Jews. Great were the promises made to Joseph in his patriarchal blessing; (See Genesis 49:22-26)  and Ezekiel prophesied that a record should come from Joseph's descendants. We know this record now as, "The Book of Mormon" having been recorded by members of Israel living upon the Isles of the Sea.

The seed of Joseph, or his legacy, would live on in his seed and eventually he would be the one who should save mankind ALSO from the famine. (Amos 8:11) through that book, which is called "The Book of Mormon" for they TRULY were descendants of Joseph, the same Joseph that saved Israel and Egypt from the famine! But he also saves countless millions from the famine, today... if they should JUST stretch forth their hand!

Its amazing how the second dream of Joseph was a type set of the "GREAT" famine which should come upon the Land (Amos 8:11) and how by the seed of Joseph, we would then have the Book of Mormon... and by this, it would explain Joseph's second dream... the sun, moon and stars bowed down to Joseph and so would the world. Not only the family of Jacob, Israel or those adopted into the family, but also the world one day would benefit from the Book of Mormon coming forth!

The sun, moon and stars typically meant the 3 degrees of Glory, as mentioned in the Bible.

The Glory of the Sun, the glory of the Moon, the Glory of the Stars each with their degrees of Glory.

My epiphany of these three elements of Joseph's dream is that there will come a day where ALL, no matter which Glory they should attain, their knees shall bow and tongue confess that The Bible and Joseph's record, or the Book of Mormon, are true. (See Rom. 14: 11, Mosiah 27:31)

It is my testimony that we have the record of the seed of Joseph... for if this record were to have been discovered by the Bible, Jesus Christ would have said, "Do we not have the record of Joseph among us? Ezekiel was talking about two nations of Isreal not books. Read the whole chapter 37. You will see that it is taken very far out of context.

@Yunginspirit really? they are not literally sticks. Why would they right on sticks. Think old scrolls rolled up they called those sticks literally look it up. and he is referring to two nations keeping records, nations of ISREAL the north and south and they came together, then the Babylon empire struck. Do you read the Bible in context or hold on to verses and split hairs? read with real intent search for truth and understanding not for proof of something.

In ancient days records were written on long scrolls & rolled around sticks made especially for that purpose. Note too that the two sticks (or books/records) were referred to as being "joined" together, not added together or added upon. : )

Then i think the Babylon Empire came through and messed things up. there is no double meaning here. He literally was talking about two nations, keep reading just a bit further and you will see.

Proof comes just the same as proof for the Bible. It comes by a "witness of the holy spirit."

I find that most people who belong to ANY church will accept the Bible based on culture, their pastor, etc when, in reality, there has been no archeological proof that an Exodus occurred, no historical documents to prove that Joseph, a Hebrew, was 2nd in command under Pharaoh, no Mt. Sanai location etc but we're willing to believe in the words of Moses written 4000 years ago anyway?

@blckchr: It OK, I only mentioned "added upon" because some non-LDS refer to the BoM as being "added to' the Bible, which is the wrong term to use. : ) Ezk is referring to the 2 records being 'joined' together. (The BoM & the Bible.) And Yes, I agree with the '2 Nations coming together' bit, also that when Ezk (speaking for the Lord) refers to 'writing a record,' he means it literally. The Prophet/recorders listened, thus we have the record of the Holy Bible today because of their obedience.

I would have to respectfully disagree, in the Bible says in Rev 22:17-22 do not add. and as this verse when taken out of context can be proven to show the BoM and the Bible comming together but when read in context its talking only about the two nations coming together. So in that sense i would say the BoM adds to the Bible. But kudos on the Prophets listening thats true, we can read it today same as 2500 years ago.

Here's what Ezekiel 37:16-17 says in The Revised English Bible: ‘O man, take one leaf of a wooden tablet and write on it, “Judah and the Israelites associated with him”. Then take another leaf and write on it, “Joseph, the leaf of Ephraim and all the Israelite tribes”. Now bring the two together to form one tablet; then they will be a folding tablet in your hand.

It's the Authorized Version that renders those verses wrongly.

Yung has it pretty close. the stick would be there form of paper rolled around a piece of wood to add rigidity so it wouldn't become folded. Im not saying Yung is adding only in the sense the LDS teaching of this goes beyond the Bible for it's explanation. The Bible provides the explanation of these verses as well as written and recorded history all these coincide, its not referring to Bible+BOM.

The stick of Judah (Jesus) DID re-unite with the stick of Joseph! Jesus and Joseph are two of the most contrasted people in the Bible! The tribe of Judah was lost due to it's iniquities and was restored when it raised the branch of righteousness (Jesus). This prophecy is about the New Covenant, not the book of Mormon.

I hadn't made the connection after all my years in the church that the Book of Mormon was of another tribe! I always thought that Lehi came with his family from Jerusalem and somehow was also a Jew! Why don't other people read this book for themselves? They tell me that they don't want to read it because its evil! Are people really this ignorant??? They sound like my kids who don't want to eat the food that I make for them it they'd only try!

Agreed! People need to know what this Book is and how inseparably connected it is with the Bible, the House of Jacob and the prophecies of Isaiah.

For Isaiah to mention the inhabitants of the Isles of the sea for no particular reason would be ignorance on the part of those that read it! The house of Israel should be scattered. One must not suppose that God could not have caused more to be written other than the "Stick of Judah" which we now know as, A Bible... or Library of Prophecy.
