  • You have an amazing talent

  • @frootloopsfan Your comment is very much appreciated, and is a great compliment! I am trying hard to emulate tunes from the masters, Tommy E. and Chet, Doyle Dykes etc. Its a lot of hard work, and I have miles to go....but I truly thank you for being so kind, and for listening and watching.

    Tommy

  • @kujaful So sorry..but I don't use tabs as I never really learned to read them at all..I just watched the Tommy Emmanuel vids and spent due diligence learning as best I could! Best of luck (:-)

    Tommy

  • @kujaful I have no tab, sorry..don't use it..but thank you for the compliment, as I really appreciate it.Tommy

  • @kujaful K, I really appreciate the kind words! Since I'm not much of a reader, and learn tunes by ear and sight on YouTube primarily, I don't have any such tabs available..good luck finding them and have a great day!

  • Do you have any recommendations as far as what types of strings to use on a DDSM? my fingers aren't that strong, but I've found with some guitars I can barre across the first fret easier than others.

  • Sononchalant,

I highly recommend Elixir 80/20 Bronze Nanoweb Custom Light .011-.052. Your gonna luv em.

    Tommy

  • tommy, sounds great nice and smooth you have great delivery, ,can I ask you what you play thru, Iplay these song but not plugged in, I think I saw a rivera in on of you pic's I would like to have your beautiful sound, it makes the songs more enjoyable, I'll be listening to your stuff, thanks, Rick

  • Rick,

Made my day ...many thanks! You saw correctly, I use the Rivera Sedona Lite with the DDSM and its a full, beautiful sound. Amp is light weight and very versatile. I give it high marks..Stay in touch and feel free to subscribe.

    Tommy

  • tommy, thanks for your timely reply, I'm 1948 old guy ha ha, laid low for yrs but have been playing more lately, fingers don't move like they used to, love tommy E, chet, paul yandell, doyle dykes andmany other finger picker's, I just bought a ddsm natural, get it next week and I will check out the amp you mentioned, thanks for your advice, Rick

  • Beautifully played!

  • Kind of you to say...I really appreciate that!

    Tommy

  • 牛

  • Jealous of your playing and your DDSM :) I am gonna take a stab at learning this beautiful piece, though I will not come close your talent. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • Ronehall, thank you for the beautiful praise. Let me just say that I think & say the same thing when I see other players perform this on YouTube (especially that Tommy Emmanuel guy)wink! Tommymec

  • great job man, wonderful cover of TE, maybe you can try to play it with a flatpick

  • It would be a challenge with a flatpick, I'll defer that one to you! But thank you for the compliment!

    Tommy

  • bahaha whos vvvvv that guy kidding buitifull guitar work luved it awsome keep it up post some more id like to see some tommy emmanuel out of you haha

    peace..........

  • you forgot some pull offs and hammer ons!!!

    But great playing...

You must play it with a flatpick

Don't try this with a thumbpick

Well, but a really good cover of this song.

  • Thank you for your comments, but you failed to send me a link to your version, so that I can see how it sounds when played correctly! (:-) tommymec

  • probably the best cover of this song on YouTube....I hopefully will have my own cover up soon.

  • so very nice - I hope to learn this tune some day - you play it wonderfully! watch out Tommy!

  • I've been playing about 22 years but haven't really progressed much in 10 years. It's guys like you that inspire me to take it seriously again. Very NICE!!!

  • You are so deadly steady on time and accuracy you should be hitting the studios. Think Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, etc. Not many people have your degree of consistency. Great playing.

  • True, he is very accurate, next step to go passed the basic song, I think it lacks a little expression. Tommy Emmanuel is not affraid to really tear on his strings!

I agree a 100%, very clean and precise.

  • close, close, so many close, you and earl klug´s song make me to cry... inmenso (search this word in a spanish dictionary)

  • hey tmec,

nice video. I am also looking into buying the gs500 camera you are using. how do you like it? and does the Rode Videomic attach to the top of the camera pretty easily?

    Thanks

    -Gold

  • you've got such a wonderful sound, great playing like all of your videos!

  • Very Well done. I was going to post this song a while back but Im glad I didnt cause yours is twice as good as mine. Five Stars

  • Thank you for responding to the video. The guitar used is a Taylor Doyle Dykes Signature Model or DDSM. It has L.R.Baggs Electronics, and a short scale neck. Once again, I appreciate your opinion! :-)

  • excellent - by the way, i know tommy plays this with a flat pick but i don't see the point in you changing to this - it sounds great with thumbpick and fingers - great tune, very well performed. ps what guitar is that? sounds really nice

  • Haha, nice ending man. Very well played as always, no problems controlling your fingers there...

  • Hey A2R..I love your idea! Lets team up on this one. You handle the flatpick version and we'll have covered the spectrum. I'll be waiting:)

  • great now try to flatpick this
