Watermelon, I'm not being funny but is that how they taught you to spell "favourite" in school? If you're proud of British music then be proud of British spelling and don't use the American way of spelling it
he still isn't legally dead-the family wanted him to be declared dead but msp did not want them to declare it. MSP still give 1/4 of the money made to Richard Edwards bank account. Its one of the most confusing cases in possible deaths as his bank had £100 withdrawn from it everyday, a month before his disaperiance
"We don't talk about love, we only want to get drunk" - I was 12 when I heard this song for the first time and I love it since. A personal anthem. I love both the britpop-esque music and the angry lyrics.

The Manics take that line from the hall of Newport Central Library. This is one of my Favourites songs.
If you like the working class topic you could read about Working class libraries, those which the Socialist and Communist put around Europe in Nineteenth Century.
go on wiki, basically he's been missing for 13 years and was last recorded as having been seen near a common suicide ( excuse the paraphrasing)... he was declared dead last year
i feel so sad he's gone but the fact he's never been found gives a little hope he's out there somewhere. hope he's found happiness. talent like that deserves a shot at happiness even if we the fans have to live without anymore of his genius input. he's truly missed but never forgotton.
Well in honesty he has been declared legally dead so that reaffirms the belief he's gone. If the family have accepted that, then everyone else should respect their wishes and admit that he's gone and he is never coming back.
Has he not turned up yet?? This song always reminded me of that guy who disapeared from the band, cause it freaked me out as a kid when ma dad told me he disapeared and no one knew why. It always made me sad and when this song would play it always made me think why did he vanish? did he go to the bramuda triangle or something. Abit sad to feel sorry for a guy i didnt even know he could of been a bastard for all i know. Just did...
Ive never really liked oasis. Im from manchester so i always thought i had to like em, well pretend. When really i never have. This is an amazing song. But lyrics are very difficult to be heard. Now when I know the lyrics I realise how different they are from the things I've heard before.
This is an amazing song. I never truly thought that Manic's could perform in Oulu Finland. I salute them for that from the rest of my... okey, enyveis alot. *grin*
went to see the manics at reading fest 2008 on my own cos none of my mates wanted to go. have to say it was the highlight of my weekend! even more so than rage against the machine and pendulum who are two of my favourite bands. the manics blew me away they were insanely good!
it would help your comment about james killing himself if he wasnt still alive and kicking as we speak. The bands 1/2 of the main songwriters vanished. Some publicity stunt that when they are still looking for him eh? Suppose you think Elvis had something to do with the JFK assasination too huh? Moron
this song got to number 1 in the uk charts in 1996, after this song was released it was made apparent that the lead singer may have had possibly commited suicide off the clifton suspension bridge in bristol but aparently in reality this was just an early internet publicity stunt lol ;)
yes i heard that too,the lead singer did a runner but made it look like a suicide for publicity, and hence the the song got to number 1 in 1998. good thing the lead guitarist could sing too or they would have been in trouble lol:)
I had the previledge ( sowwi if that wasnt spelt ryt) to see these at V festival 2002 they were gr8 and some random guy put me on his shoulders tah see the show XD
I remember when this song came out I wished I could see the video, but MTV only (to my memory) played it 1 time on a show called 120 minutes. I remember being very annoyed by this too. It's a good song.
4 long months of trying to find out this song (I didn't know who sung it of the name) and i discover it through radio one while at work! the irony of it. Hope u r safe where ever u r Richey James.
I remember seeing these guys at Glastonbury 1999, headlining the main stage on the Saturday night. They're just as good live as on their albums, if not better. This was the song that got me into them in the first place, but one question begs itself - WHY HAVE AMERICA IGNORED THESE GUYS? WHY?
hmm where should we start! there's at least one song on each album criticising the US government, and the album 'know ur enemy'is anti American almost the whole way through, also imagine what those strict catholics would think of 'the holy bible' lol.
Youre kidding right? Please dont tell me you didnt know the English are from England? Just like the Spanish are from Spain? The English language came from England, like Spanish Language came from Spain? And people still live in these countries! Or do you think a big American corporation like Microsoft invented English? My God, you really are silly & you thought you were being such a smart ass. Unbelievable!
Yes, very silly you. English is a race, albeit a sub race of Caucasian. Spanish is a language and Spain is a country. English is a language and England is also a country. Guess why? Because its the country the language came from? Wow, who would believe it?! You have embarrassed yourself. Im not an American hater by any stretch of the imagination, but it comes as no surprise to click on your profile & find you are American.
What's wrong being an american? My grandpa was born in Michigan, then they moved back to homeland Finland. I love America, because my grandpa was a born american. I hope also, that Barack Obama gets all this nightmares all right, if elected. If not, I'm gonna move to Mars.
Yes meli419, very silly you. English is a race. A sub form of the Caucasian race. Spanish is a language and Spain is a country. English is a language and England is also a country. Guess why? Because its the country the language came from? Wow, who would believe it??!! Yes, you have embarrassed yourself. Im not an American hater by any stretch of the imagination, but it comes as no surprise to click on your profile & find you are an American.
Well English is spoken all over the world but originated in england.. obiously, while the scots had galic but thats gone and we speek english too, ANYWAY..
So since england is a country they are a race of english people, i'm from the human race (and scottish) so.. if u are american and i asume so, you are from the american race.. :)
i was told by a reliable source that the song was cleverly written to come across as being about the upper classes looking down on the lower classes when in actual fact it is about womens rights and women sacrificing themselves so that life could be better for women in future generations or summit. something about women achieving equal rights anywho. either way its a genius song.
I'm doing english lit. and am quite good at dissecting such meanings in poetry, which is practically what MSP lyrics are, and I have no idea how they could have thought it's about suffrage, women's rights and that. It seems to purely be about the lower classes, and how the upper classes look down on them.
Bryvs Mekis: writer in Athens GA wrote: "Life and How to Live It" ReM named a very appealing album by this. my best bud in the world has an orig. copy!! I 'am freaking out.
i was drunbk so ammend it as you see fit and yes im still drunk when writing this the only difference being is that im no w looking where i put my fingers,,lol but good band ..good welsh lads. and thats from a geordie were not that diferent.
the song is about how rich people look down on regular people and the manics are saying that there life is about more than "just wanting to get drunk"
Discovering this track and the Manics 'Everything Must Go' CD pulled me out of one of the darkest times of my life. It made me cry but lifted me and gave me HOPE! Thanks lads. God bless R. Edwards.
only reason it sends shivers down peoples spine is cause this album EVERYTHING MUST GO that contained this song had the last ever lyrics of richy manic after he disappeared. the albums after this one were never the same or up to the standard of the first four. My opinion.
all the manics lyrics have meaning, thats why a mogority of the songs send shivers through you (or in this case me), they don't just sing about nonsense
I'm waiting for Manics in Japan! !

If not, I'm gonna move to Mars.

we dont wanna talk about love we just wanna get drunk

i was told by a reliable source that the song was cleverly written to come across as being about the upper classes looking down on the lower classes when in actual fact it is about womens rights and women sacrificing themselves so that life could be better for women in future generations or summit. something about women achieving equal rights anywho. either way its a genius song.

I'm doing english lit. and am quite good at dissecting such meanings in poetry, which is practically what MSP lyrics are, and I have no idea how they could have thought it's about suffrage, women's rights and that. It seems to purely be about the lower classes, and how the upper classes look down on them.

the song is about how rich people look down on regular people and the manics are saying that there life is about more than "just wanting to get drunk"

Discovering this track and the Manics 'Everything Must Go' CD pulled me out of one of the darkest times of my life. It made me cry but lifted me and gave me HOPE! Thanks lads. God bless R. Edwards.
SazBob2223 3 years ago 2
only reason it sends shivers down peoples spine is cause this album EVERYTHING MUST GO that contained this song had the last ever lyrics of richy manic after he disappeared. the albums after this one were never the same or up to the standard of the first four. My opinion.

all the manics lyrics have meaning, thats why a mogority of the songs send shivers through you (or in this case me), they don't just sing about nonsense
