But how do they manage to make it sound about one second before they actually play it? Perhaps it was drugs. It is very admirable. At least I am admire it.
this version pays tribute to 2 bands (1) the beatles (obviously) and (2) vanilla Fudge... YES were fans of Vanilla Fudge and the way the totally transform songs from other groups to make news and brillant tracks.... Please look for America...
Salvadormar......., you need to learn your history too! That was John Lennon in The Beatles. Your post says Lenin is singing. Lenin led the communist revolution in Russia in 1918. (You are from a bizarro planet). Harrison's solo is just what the tune needed also.
'Yes' was a second rate band playing tribute to the greatest band ever. Salvadormarley you are correct, 'Yes' was on an entirely (use spell check, 'INTIRELY' makes you seem illiterate) different planet. A planet named "No band could play 'Every Little Thing' as good as The Beatles.
This is a band paying tribute to the greatest band ever.
And who can argue with a group that has Rick Wakeman dressed in a Psychedelic green overcoat? Now that's something Lennon would have admired. George too.
@salvadormarley It's the GREATEST BAND EVER....PLAYING TRIBUTE TO THE 2nd Greatest band EVER. Musically speaking YES WAS /IS....ON AN INTIRELY DIFFERENT PLANET than the Beatles....a great POP Group...A POP Group for the ages...but just because everyone says that they are the best ever....doesn't make it true. THIS SONG FOR EXAMPLE IS BETTER W/YES Performing it!!!Anderson is a much better vocalist that Lenin or McCartney....Howe blows away Harrison. YES IS Number 1!!!
Yes has always been one of my favorite bands, however, you cannot compare these two talented groups. Just the fact that Yes covered Every Little Thing is a reflection of the respect that they had for the Beatles. If you like this rendition better than the Beatles, that's ok. Don't down what is undoubtably the one most talented and influential band of our time. The Beatles shaped our lives (musically).
Saying Yes are better than The Beatles is like saying cats' piss is better than Champagne.
And on the point that The Beatles could never cover Yes...er, you have me there, but then two of The Beatles are dead, which rather scuppers any reunion.
yeah I must disagree too. I love Steve Howe. He's great, but the studio version has Peter Banks, a vastly underrated and powerful guitar player. I'm not trying to compare Howe and Banks, but to me this is lacking the raw power that the studio version had, and I attribute that to Peter Banks' absence.
rock on Yes
but don't forget Peter Banks, he added an edge to those early Yes albums that, for better or worse, was lost when he was sacked.
the guy in the bathrobe is Rick Wakeman, who was not with the band when they originally recorded this song. He joined a year or so later. By the way, he's one of the best keyboard players of our generation..REALLY

I know Rick , I saw him play with Yes @ MSG NYC on the Tormato tour . I agree that he's fantastic , but I must reiterate the question ... Why is that old man on the keyboards in his FUCKING BATHROBE ?!?!?!?!

Yes? Utter rubbish. But two of their covers are great - this one and their fantastic version of Simon and Garfunkel's America. And they're great because, unlike with their other records, the source material was great.
No one is a bigger YES fan than me, but the Beatles version is a classic that has the nuances of genius and timelessness. This is an oddity and, while extremely unique, in NO way compares to the original.
awesome song... I like this better than the original beatles song, but the video and the music are horribly out of sync rofl! I have this on CD from the Yessongs 4-Disc set though, so I don't need to worry about the video so much...
Surely Jon Anderson is one of the last castratis to ever walk this earth, his speaking voice proves it. Of course if it meant a voice like his, I might consider it myself...
Michaelangelo is a severely overrated artist. Beethoven is a severely overrated composer. Shakespeare is a severely overrated writer. These statements are just as dumb as the one I read here.

Nah not the best, they over embellished a good simple song. I think thats what made the beatles so good, It wasn't over done (not that it's a bad thing)
There are so many nice songs of the beatles, this isn't at all bad, but why this one? anyway.. good job, prodigious band yes, never better than the Beatles of course!
Yes have been playing this song on and off almost since they first formed. Before they even secured a recording contract I saw them play in a small London pub during early 1971 and they were then almost totally a covers band, with just a few of their own songs.
This track was in that 1971 set and they actually recorded it on their very first album...and a stunning tribute to the Beatles it is too
Surely you mean early '68/'69? 1971 they were one of the biggest up and coming bands with their awesome 3rd album 'The Yes Album' being out! I really quite like this cover too, really enjoying their debut aswell! Regards!
Just checked my diaries and you are quite right - it was Feb 1969 - I was living in London & touring as bass player for Johnnie Johnson and the Bandwagon.
Silly me it couldn't have been 1971 because I was on tour in Germany and Switzerland.
I had never heard of Yes that evening I walked in the pub - but they just blew me away, and I should say they sang it better then. I bought the first album almost immediately afterwards on the strength of that live show.
But how do they manage to make it sound about one second before they actually play it? Perhaps it was drugs. It is very admirable. At least I am admire it.

Great job by Yes, making a Beatles song fit their own style.
There's no need to make comparisons between the two. I'm sure both groups have great admirations for each others abilities. Personally I prefer Yes.
