@Kangaxxter John Lennon, Paul McCartney were under contract which to allow anyone of the same musical label as their, sing their songs before they were officially released.
That may be true, but since The Shindogs were never signed to Parlophone, Capitol, or Apple records (the ONLY record labels the Beatles were signed to), I question that statement's relevance.
@Kangaxxter Granted, Shindogs were a group form from the TV show Shindigs, they did invite the Beatles on the show, they may have asked permission to use their music before it was officially released.
What is with people making statements they can't back up or are blatantly untrue?
I have nothing against the Beatles, but here you guys are just lying to protect a band that hasn't been around for forty years. As long as you fail to provide where these claims are coming from, I'm going to keep calling bullshit on them.
@Kangaxxter If shindogs had stolen the Beatles songs, John Lennon would be insanely furious at the group, they were never play ever again. IF the Beatles had stole Shindogs' song, they would take Beatles for all its worth, and be very rich.
Again, unsubstantiated claims. You can't prove this video is from 1966, nor can you prove that the Shindogs ever played again.
I will say this; I never said *this song* was stolen. Dodo251 did and retracted his statement. I have just been calling out all the bullshitters who posted comments.
And I also know the reason why the Shindogs can perform this Beatles song, without Lennon being "insanely furious". But all the answers people have been giving, including yours, are bullshit.
@Kangaxxter I think John Lennon given them permission to play his song without thief I defending John Lennon and the Beatles not this group, yes this Shindog is very active, still playing, they have official website, tours.
John Lennon didn't need to give the Shindogs permission. The Shindig! was not subject to British Copyright Law until the American Copyright Act of 1976. This performance was filmed in the spring of 1965, after The Beatles released it. Epstein couldn't sue them because of copyright laws in the United States.
So shut your fucking mouth about things you don't know about.
@Kangaxxter Shindogs worked for Shindigs were manufacture from this show, they were hired individually. This show is from Shindig episode which was 1966.
I remember the early '70's, The Palomino Club, North Hollywood. Burton and I'd sit at the back bar drinking beers, talking guitars and Shindig...I tried to get him to sell me the red Tele. He'd laugh. "Oh no, can't do that,' he'd say... Very nice guy. Very down to earth...
Imranino---if memory serves me right, the Shindogs were the house band for Shindig----and by definition, housebands pretty much do nothing but covers...... By the way, Delaney Bramlett got his "breakthrough" start with this band...
"we promised you the beatles, but these guys were way cheaper!" sorry don't mean to offend... just don't understand how or why a band would play a song note for note that isn't theirs and get on TV
James Burton on Tele & Delaney bramlett on Bass and , I think, Don preston on Guitar
