  • how can perople say ali is the best of all time ? i dont understand....top 20 of all time OK out of the ring of all time Ok

  • @Beteje92 in this fight ali is 35, and not in his prime..and shavers is a hell of a puncher and 3 years younger than ali.

you must watch ali vs. cleveland williams (1966) ..in this night he would eat tyson for breakfast..and i am a great tyson fan !! :)

  • @Saeufercrew cleveland is a third class fighter with speed and power of a turtle :):) men ali have big big trouble with frazier >>> tyson is much faster, better and punch much harder as fraizer

  • @Saeufercrew Wladimir Klitschko is 35, too ... Vitali is even 40

  • What like or dislike have to do with Ali abilities??? Absolutely nothing! So its rather silly to even mention that when assessing the boxer abilities.. Ali was the best and greatest...who is still trying to debate the irrefutable fact at this late date?? lol

  • Muhammad ali was the best, is the best and will be the best

  • I never really like Ali. He was cocky and mocked his opponents all the time and disrespecting his ability that his god gave him. Look what happened to him at the end. Only if he was humble during the height of his career. I'm for Joe Louis.

  • @oogiemaster i never really liked ppl who give dick headed thoughts about ali. j/s

  • @jsharps1000 If you want to suck Ali's dick go ahead. What I said was true and I said I never really like him; It's not that I said I hated him. He had a great ability as a boxer but not as an opponent during his time.

  • @oogiemaster im j/s bro if u dont like ali why watch a video post a dislike comment? lol your comment is so retarded btw. who isn't cocky in boxing? as for the opponent thing idk what your tryin to say make more sense not to be disrespectful. he had a great ability as a boxer but not as an opponent during his time.? what do u mean by that?

  • @jsharps1000 I meant as a boxer (in the ring) he can box; no doubt about that. He could have been a little respectful to his opponents ( as an opponent). There were lots of great boxer like Joe Frazier that were humble and people oriented. Again, I don't hate the guy I just don't like him. I watched his video because I was trying to watch a good "knocked out punch". I apologize for my offensive remark earlier!

  • ali could frustrate the best of boxers,he would just clam up against the ropes and let them pound away until whoever it was got truly fed up and irritated

  • tyson loses there

    Evander Holyfield was unable to

  • Ali is moeslim..

    and this battle > borring

  • muhhamad is boooring fighter.....how'd he became a great...

  • I remember thinking this entire fight was lackluster...

After viewing this ...I was right....

This is why Tyson became a super star a fewyears later....

Because these types of performances became the norm in heavyweight fights....

  • I love Ali's style!

The only way you can copy his style is to be or born Muhammad Ali!

  • I really don't like the ref breaking them when they aren't clinching. Let them stand head to head, glove to glove if they want. They are looking for openings.

  • Ali, after Zaire, didn't really train hard for fights. He compounded being out of shape with clowining. If he'd taken fights seriously, and trained, he wouldn't have taken the punishment from the likes of Shavers as he did.

  • @vgr112261 except for manila, if he was in poor shape in manila frazier would have killed him

  • @perokcojones. Good point. This is definitely not one of Ali's better fights. He'd slowed down quite a bit by this point unfortunately.

  • And Shavers KO Ken Norton within 2 mins.

  • What I meant when I said if they fought like that all 15 rounds...I just mean I don't care how dull the fight is, or if they clown and play the whole time, I'd still do just about anything I could to see that.

  • animal they expect to dance and land 1000 punches/rd and disappear and fly or something. You all are lucky to be there watching the greatest boxing legend ever live and in person and I don't think they really fully realize what a treat that is. If they fought like that last round for all 15 rounds I'd practically do anything and spend any amount of $ just to see that. Disrespectful faggots. Maybe it's 'cause they're in New York...figures.

  • I can't help it anymore, I have to say this...the crowds in this and his previous fight with Alfredo really piss me off with all the boo-ing. They have no idea what it's like to be in the ring and to have accomplished and taken the punishment Ali has. Same with all the pressure Ali has as well, which he never once crumpled under. He always delivered, so I don't know why they have to be all pissy and stuck up. Ali is the champ and earned it 100% with every win and they treat him like some zoo

  • @breastmilkgaysexs but this kind of boxing matchs are boring, ali looks really bad in this fight

  • man you are legend forever

  • I loved how Ali brought humour to boxing.

  • i just had to say though, i never really watched shavers much but after watching his clips i became interested... his defense is terrific and he had amazing power... like omg power how Ali stayed up i dont even know

  • U are an iidiot

  • Ali was give sooooooo many fights in the 70's. All these slap jabs and running wow...zzzzzzzz! All the pro wrestling crap is the reason they gave him almost a decade of fights! Most of these fights were a joke. Ignore the joking, the mic skills.... Ali is basically as good as Ric Flair IN the ring which wasnt good. Where is this amazing Ali??? We have most of the 70's and they are joking, slapping - borefest

  • Ali hit the canvas 4 times. The only men who achieved this were Sonny Banks, Henry Cooper, Joe Frazier and Chuck Wepner. Ali was never counted out in his career!

thats an impressive fact, and regardless of opinion one cant say that about ric flairs career!

  • @3dwardXP The chuck Wepner knockdown was not really a knockdown. Wepner clearly steps on Ali's foot as Ali backs away from Wepner. Wepner lands a body shot as Ali begins to fall which made it look more real but clearly it wasn't a knockdown. So in reality it was 3 knockdowns in Ali's pro career.

  • The way Shavers' head was bouncing around two minutes into the 7th showed that Ali, contrary to what seems to be commonly believed, was no rubbish puncher.

  • @madmax8903 Yes, and they did nothing to Shavers, a guy with a weak chin, proving he had no punch. Shavers then landed one right, and Ali was stunned badly and froze for a few seconds. That's the difference between a guy who can punch, and a guy who can't.

  • ken norton was the only man that ever beat ali every time and got robbed of the decision.

  • @veeseee128 Personally, I think Ali won the second, but Norton won the other 2. That said, when Ali danced, Norton couldn't do anything. Ali needed speed and stamina to beat boxers, and he was too old against norton. He could still beat sluggers in his old age because of his chin, but boxers were tough.

  • what a boring fight. Ali was slow and heavy. He should have quitted after the Thrilla in Manilla or after the 3rd Ken Norton fight in 1976.

  • @atosh76 quitted?

  • Ali was the best at fighting backwards and against the ropes, Shavers well knew that lol he wasn't stupid!!

  • it really sad to see ali slowing down considerably and still fighting

  • I've never seen Ali hurt so many times in a fight. Sure, Frazier had him nearly out Round 11, and decked him Round 15. Cooper had him essentially unconscious, but every time Shavers hits him Ali goes on queer street. I've never see him constantly hurt, normally only once or twice. If that's not proof this guy hits like a mule kicks, I don't know what is.

  • Ali is the most overrated heavyweight of all time. Who did he truly dominate after his comeback other than Foreman, and you really have to ask yourself what the hell was wrong with Foreman physically in that fight because he looked nothing like he had prior to that point, or after that fight.

Ali was tested in all Frazier fights, all Norton fights, Bonavena, Shavers, Spinks twice, Lyle, Jimmy Young, etc.

He was gifted decisions in many of these fights that he rightfully lost.

  • @dropway9 He was overrated, for sure, but he carried Bonavena, and destroyed Spinks the second fight at age 36. He often didn't come in shape.

Foreman was a lousy fighter, and was exposed in fights after Ali as well (Young, Lyle).

Shavers himself said Holmes had a much better jab, and there was no comparsion. I'd pick Holmes to beat Ali, both in their prime.

  • @TA152H01 No way. Never. Even AFTER his prime, Ali used to give him boxing lessons while sparring. Holmes was an excellent boxers. Ali was a great (arguably "The Greatest") boxer. If after 10 rounds, a prime Holmes could not put away (Ali's corner stopped it) a fat, bloated, 38yo, slow, out of shape, Ali (who was showing visible signs of Parkinsons), what makes you think he's beat a prime Ali???? LOL Wait, that was a joke right? If it's a joke, hahah, I get it. If not, it's crazy talk!

  • @gjc82071 Well, Ali struggled against "greats" like Zora Foley, what makes you think he'd beat Holmes?

George Foreman said Holmes was better. Holmes beat up Ali in sparring. Ali had trouble with anyone with a jab. Holmes had a far better jab than he.

So what could he do? He couldn't fight from outside (shorter arms, worse jab), he couldn't fight in close (he had no idea how), so it's a tough fight for him.

Holmes won every round against Ali. He did what he was supposed to.

  • @TA152H01 Holmes NEVER fought "Ali". Not the real Ali. If your trying to compare an old, worn out, 238lb, fat, bloated, slow Ali, with a prime Ali, you're crazy. It's nearly impossible to hypothesize who would have won between 2 prime boxers who never fought. This is a rare exception, due to them sparring & actually fighting. Prime Ali by KO or points. No doubt.

PS: Homles never "best up" Ali in sparring. As was requested, he "beat ON" him (especially the body) to prepare for Foreman.

  • @gjc82071 Keep it in context. You said how "well" Ali did against Holmes, and Holmes was up against an old Ali. Well, Holmes did exactly what he should have. He completely dominated him, hurt him, sent him home a defeated man. He did what he was supposed to. Nothing in that fight indicates Ali would beat him in his prime.

Ali wasn't 238. He blamed his defeat on losing too much weight.

Holmes was the wrong style for Ali. Holmes by easy decision. Ali leaves beaten up. Again.

  • @TA152H01 Well, I guess we can agree only to disagree. In their fight, I saw some many openings/chances that Ali, with his diminished speed & reflexes, was unable to capitalize on. I believe a prime Ali would have saw them, took them, and made even more openings. It's good we both have our own opinions, but they're just the opposite & will never change. Take care dude. :-)

  • @gjc82071 Well, I do think Ali was the better fighter. I just think it's the worst style for him to fight. Just like Carl Williams was a rough style for Holmes. Holmes was a better fighter, but lost the fight (got a gift decision though).

  • @TA152H01 Man you're crazy. Holmes was a good fighter, no doubt. But Ali not beating Holmes in his prime? You must be joking. Ali had more speed, he could catch greased lightening. He had perfect reflexes, a lot better than the reflexes of Holmes. He moved so much faster and better. He had a mastermind for boxing. He was so ringsmart, and he also had more power than Holmes. Plus, Ali had heart, and a great chin. Ali would probably knock him out in round 8 or give him a whopping of a lifetime.

  • @michaelyouth Holmes had more heart than Ali. When he got hit, or hurt, he'd come back like a madman. Ali covered up. Ali didn't have any punch; Holmes hit harder. Holmes was a better defensive fighter. Ali moved better, and did have a better chin, but he didn't have a punch to make it matter.

Ali couldn't outjab him, or fight him from the outside. He couldn't fight him inside because Holmes was stronger. It's a very bad style for Ali. Styles make fights.

  • @TA152H01 True, but a prime Ali would destroy Holmes. Ali could hit pretty hard too.Holmes had not the same heart and geting back up like a madman is actually very stupid. Ali knew that, that's why he overreacted it if he got hit hard, to make it look like he was faking, while he actually was hurt. He was so ringsmart. And Holmes didn't beat a contender of the calibre George Foreman, Joe Frazier or Sonny Liston. Ernie Shavers actually gave Homes a lot more trouble than he gav ean old Ali.

  • @michaelyouth Actually, Shavers got dominated by Holmes except for one punch. Shavers nearly knocked Ali down several times. He stunned him many times in the first round, one time he almost went down.

Shavers said Holmes was a better fighter.

Ali never had a punch, everyone who fought him said so. They also said how much harder the Holmes jab was.

  • @michaelyouth

C'mon Larry was the greatest. Just ask him.

  • @46spoony Larry by far was not the greatest. Holmes had a good jab, but he was nowhere near of the class of Muhammad Ali. George Foreman, Joe Frazier would destroy Holmes. In my opinion Ken Norton took out Holmes. Ali is a lot better.

  • ali in his prime would beat any fighter from any era.

  • earnie shavers coulda found some better shorts...

  • Get over it Ali fans, Larry Holmes was a better fighter

  • Could Ali just not dance like he used to at this point?

  • @shamwowftl nope he never dnaced like he did after the governement baned him for 3 years i believe prior to tht was his prime, liston patterson fights

  • @shamwowftl His legs were mostly gone after the layoff. By this point he was totally flat footed.

  • ali really drug out his career great figher tho

  • Actually the first time Larry Holmes fought Shavers he fought a picture perfect fight and handled Shavers better than Ali. Larry was really in his prime at that point.

  • round 7 should go to shavers not ali

  • muhammad said this was hte hardest puncher

  • Round 6 kind of slow.

  • "Ali missing with a right hand and Shavers countered with a smile". That was them sot epic commentary the whole fight.

  • shavers had so much power,if only he had more skill......

  • @onlyjoetee He didn't need any skill against Jimmy Young, Jimmy Ellis and Ken Norton as he knocked out those three in the first round lol. But I do agree with the part about him being even better if he had slightly more skill.

  • Lol challenger winning round 6 i dont think there was a scoring punch in that entire round.

  • there were lots of body shots, shoulder shots. wearing ali down. Ali's head is too elusive so he's working the body.

  • Alright, maybe there was like one body shot worthy of a point, but most of them were powder puff hits, and f you've seen some ali fights you'll know that body shots dont tend to bother him much, with the exception of ai vs frazier fights.

  • Ali is using his wisdom -in concern for his age.

Unfortunately, he's not the old Ali anymore. He's not into the thrill of Boxing anymore -just cashing away. Entertain the crowd with a few stunts, use his wisdom and experience to get through the fight safely, and get his Champion cheque.

On the other hand, wow -Ernie trained around +240 sparring rounds! He looks a hard worker, unfortunately -Ali wont give him a fair chance.

  • Ali gave him 15 roungs of fair chances. Ernie wasn't good enough to win.

  • @JJHusker lol... thats a good one ! 15 rounds , 3 minutes each, of chances , and Ernie couldn't do it.

  • Ali was so great, even at age 36 and overweight he was able to stay a step ahead of Shavers and keep the damage to a minimum. Compare this fight with the Shavers-Holmes fights. Shavers knocked down Holmes and almost had him out when Holmes was in his prime! Ali had an iron chin and legendary ring savvy and would've destroyed Shavers and Holmes if he were five years younger.

  • @81carlos damage to a minimum?? he shoulda retired after the foreman fight, this fight & all the others is why hes all F**K*D UP NOW & FOR THE LAST 25 YEARS

  • @81carlos Ali was 35 in this fight but I do agree with you in that Ali would have won easier if he was younger. When Holmes fiught Shavers the first time Homes won every round in a 12 round decision.

  • @81carlos Ali was better at running from contact than holmes was, Holmes otherwise dominated shavers besides the big shot. Remember also Holmes knocked Shavers out in the very next round. Holmes was better than Ali

  • @whitedeviltx Although he had 20 title defenses as champ,Holmes' era as champion doesn't even compare to Ali's which is considered by most as the greatest for heavywts.Holmes was knocked down many more times during his career than Ali.When Holmes faced Tyson,he was knocked out cold in four rounds.Ali never lost due to a ten count in his career. Also,Holmes was never forced to vacate his title and never lost 3 years during his prime.Holmes copied Ali's style and was Ali's former sparring partner.

  • @81carlos Holmes was a better champion than Ali period, yeah he got kod when he was old but if Ali had faced Tyson at the same age Holmes did he would have literally been killed in the ring. For Gods sake Ali got beat up by Trevor Berbick you saw wht Tyson and Holmes did to him

  • @whitedeviltx He held the title longer.Doesn't mean he was a better champion. Here Ali is facing shavers at age 36 and with parkinsons.Shavers is right up there as one of the strongest KO artists in heavyweight history and a lot of people said he hit even harder than George Foreman. When Ali lost his title to Leon Spinks he regained it immediately in their rematch. When Holmes lost his title to Larry Spinks,he lost in their rematch and was knocked down the ladder. In their primes Ali would win...

  • @81carlos Look I understand your argument both guys were obviously great fighters, I just happen to think Holmes was the better of the two and that is not only based on the beating he administered to him, By the way it was Micheal Spinks who beat Holmes but I challenge you to watch the fights again and score the rounds yourself Holmes won both fights the second I had him way ahead, and he was 40 or so at the time of the fights

  • @81carlos Earnie Shavers did not seriously think he could beat Ali,he fought a cautious fight, didnt finish Ali when he hurt him etc.He fought a completely different fight against Holmes,he actually intended to win,he went at Larry with much much more intensity than he did here. Most Ali opponents did not seriously expect to win, including Shavers!

  • @81carlos Larry Holmes is a chump, saying he is the greatest of all time.An Ali against Liston, Terell, Foreman or Frazier would evaporate Holmes. We never even saw Ali's true prime, because of the Vietnam war.

  • 3.24 : most fighters would be in serious trouble with that punch! the whole fight deserves to be uploaded, thx for the effort!
