  • I would never drive that. An engine that powerful right in front of you. If anything flies off, your dead.

  • Nitromethane has lower energy capacity than gasoline, it just requires much less air to burn it, more fuel in cylinders = more power.

  • Nitro-methane is a very interesting molecule, there is a lot of potential for power and maybe economy if an engine was designed to burn it efficiently.

  • Is that a big block? LOL

  • 700,000 of the views are probably me....

  • cool car... but how the fuck does he see in front of him?

  • America!!

  • nothing like a first generation 392 cube hemi on nitro. when the good old guys discovered this back in the 50's they must have thought to themselves..."what hath God wraught?"

  • Batman? Green Hornet? Kick Ass? Captain America? Nawwwwww! Dude in a top fuel openface helmet with goggles and twin resperators? Now THAT'S a super hero mask!

  • 32 people have a priyus

  • Looks like Darth Vader changed his job and his helmet, now he's like "Hell yeah take a look at my new death star"..

  • Oh, absolutely no intent to minimize anything from anybody. And it is like going to a race car show where the cars actually run!

  • The entire reason for building cackle cars is really quite simple, it allows us old guys to stay in touch with our rich drag racing history while showing the young folks the heritage and beauty of days past...Many great racers were lost along the way and we honor their memory with these cars. When you see someone with tears in their eyes watching Dave Wests marvelous "Beebe & Mulligan" idling, I can assure you, it's not just nitro that does that.....

  • think thta would fit in a mustang?

  • Nitromethane is an unstable fuel that needs to be kept away from all sources of water, and why the sealed containers.

But it produces its own oxidizer., but safe

However it provides nearly no lubrication.

Yet it has an amazing power to volume ratio.

This could go on, pros and cons to everything.

What I think would be neat would be a nitrometh injection system, much like nitro oxide.

The advantage would be the fuel and oxidizer would be available as one.

  • @gearhead853 you almost have it... but xbox beats ps3

  • I wouldn't want that engine right in front of my face @ 200+ MPH, it probably really sucks to have it end up in your lap if something goes wrong.. Is that why most rails have the engine BEHIND the driver now? Or is it just for traction?.

  • @Snoep76239 having the engine in the back is much safer. If it blows up it's not right in your face. But the modern funny cars have the engines up front...when NHRA was still running the full 1/4 mile the record mph was around 335 in the dragsters, somewhere right around 320 in the funnys. I don't really care for the cackle fests where they don't actually drive the car...just sit there and run it till it runs out of fuel. Most of those cars can't pass tech anymore. so they do shows and such.

  • @jaded16340 Thanx. I figured it had to be much safer in back, for blowups and no engine in your lap during a crash. Would still be nice to see them do a run, even a shorter, slower one instead of just cackle.

  • did u see that supercharger

  • GREAT VIDEO!!! ...shouldnt that bad boy be on a stand?

  • I need to put one of these in my smart car.

  • 14.7 lbs. of air is required to burn 1 pound of gasoline, but only 1.7 lb. of air for 1 lb. of nitromethane. Since an engine’s cylinder can only contain a limited amount of air on each stroke, 8.7 times more nitromethane than gasoline can be burned in one stroke. Nitromethane, has a lower energy density: Gasoline provides about 42–44 MJ/kg whereas nitromethane provides only 11.3 MJ/kg. nitromethane generates about 2.3 times the power of gasoline when combined with a given amount of oxygen.

  • how can I get that into my firebird?

  • @RifleMarksman1 I stand corrected about IHRA Top Fuel is limited to 90% max (same as NHRA & FIA), but allows 100% nitromethane in Prostalgia Nitro Funny Car & Pro Fuel Dragster. IHRA Pro Fuel Dragster is the equivalent of NHRA A/Fuel dragster. The difference is that Pro fuel dragster competes in their own class & A/Fuel competes in the Top Alcohol Dragster class in NHRA Before I got out of drag racing I worked on everything from Top Fuel to Jr Dragster. My thing was clutch & Data gathering

  • 29 PEOPLE DRIVE CIVICS!!!!!

  • LMAO @ Veiw count 666,999 also Great fucking noise :)

  • May I seat in the driver seat for just a sec? *seats in* BYEEEE *pedals down the gas**realizes it's on blocks* ah shit....

  • bet those that disliked this cant get their prius to do that lol

  • What a waste.

  • flat head <3

  • just burned like 500 bucks worth of fuel lol

  • The instructors and some of the students at my Lincoln Tech built one of these. They had it running in the parking lot when I went there for my orientation. Best smell ever, loud as hell, and when they shut it down, there were at least 5 car alarms going off. And you couldn't hear those alarms for the life of you when that engine was running.

  • Alcohol is for Drinking, Gas for washing Parts, and Ntromethane is for Racing

  • @gullreefclub alcohol is for racing too. Chances are that this car runs on a mix of nitro and alcohol. But i could be wrong. My bosses car runs on about 93% nitro and 7% alcohol.

  • @RifleMarksman1 I hate to tell you that you missed the bus. That old saying about Gas, Alcohol, and Nitromethane has been around since the beginning 'Fuel' cars in drag racing. The implication being is in drag racing the "Kings" of the sport run on 'Fuel'. Even when NHRA or IHRA allowed cars to run straight 'Fuel' no one did except on rare occasion at Bandimere. Top Fuel class's are limited to 90% Nitro max. The only class that can run more than 90% nitro is A/FUEL dragster (No Blower)

  • @gullreefclub i hate to tell you that your wrong. Because i work with Nitro funny cars that are qualified for the IHRA we like to run on about 93% nitro. And i know its 93 because i mix the fuel and i test the fuel. And his car is perfictly legal for that class. His car has a littlefield supercharger on it. And i've also worked on an Alcohol funny car. There are alot of rules but you can run more than 90% nitro.

  • GAS IS FER CLEANING PARTS,..ALCOHOLS FER DRINKIN,..NITRO FUEL BABY!!!,..NEED I SAY MORE?,..I THOUGHT NOT!!,..

  • fly wheel goes bang feet go bye bye....i want one

  • How do I make this my desktop background on loop??????

  • @Jester4point0 ...I dunno, but that's a great idea!! If you figure it out, let me know!

  • @murphy91 try getting it frame by frame and make a .gif file

  • @murphy91 Download a wmv file of it and install dreamscene. Google it

  • @murphy91 ausus virtual VCR will let you do that.makes the background on the deskotop into a video screen for DVD,DIRECT TV,whatever video thing you want...just set it to constant loop and your there...and older program ..but a good one.

  • @Jester4point0 one possibility is to put the video on full screen, pause the video, take a picture and upload it to your computer, then set as a desktop picture.

  • @Jester4point0 just download this video as WMV and save it and then tell windows to use it if you have vista but just get it to be WMV and google it for windows 7 and it will work easy

  • @Jester4point0 well moving wallpapers is what you google and get software

  • @stevenlafrance I was actually just trying to be funny. Apparently everyone took me seriously.

  • @Jester4point0 big animated gif?

  • @Jester4point0 convert it to WMV and you can use it as an animation on Vista* and W7

    * I think it was possible at least.

    windows.microsoft(dot)com/en-US/windows-vista/About-Windows-DreamScene

  • So the reason is to be Loud?...havent seen one go down the track yet in your vids lol

  • There is no adjectives i have that can explain how purely bad ass that is! awesome!

  • i got me a hemi

  • Must be scary to drive with that engine in from of you! :O

  • that is the largest blower i have ever seen...

  • actually we dont make nitro it is merely chuck norris's sperm donations that we are using :)

  • @TheMetal750 ROFL XD

  • I couldn't imagine what on earth it would be like driving from back there with that in front of you!!RESPECT

  • I couldnt imagine what on earth it would be like driving from back there with that in front of you!!RESPECT

  • this is fuckin awesome

  • Thats a brave mofo sitting on that rear end. What happens when they suck an intake valve back when they sat there? I guess its like a funny car now days. wow. I heard somewhere there's nothing funny about a funny car. Great video.

  • Yep, if I had that engine in a regular car or truck, I'd use that as my grocery getter.

  • The Micky Thompson 427 Ford Hemi Conversion for the 351 :) pure awesome! :D

  • 26 viewers just don't get it !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @69moparman ...If we had to explain, we'd be wasting our time....

  • @69moparman prolly hybrid owners

  • I need to borrow that

  • Spark arresters anyone?

  • Still the GREATEST video on Youtube!!!

  • @vf74tomcat ...Thank You...618,000 views can't be wrong

  • Motor-mouse's nightmare right there.

  • Can she see where she's going behind that thing?

  • Now I know what Chuck Norris drinks every day...

  • THAT IS A THING OF "BEAUTY"!!!!!

  • sick!!

  • Only thing I hate about Front Engine Dragsters is your BALLS are setting right behind the rear axle pumpkin. Know this from experience beck in the early 70's.

    Sir David

  • Well Jessica Anderson has way bigger balls than me because there is no way in hell i would be straped in that machine behind that much open power.

  • icanbe "Don" Garlits known as "Big Daddy" to drag racing fans around the world. Always a pioneer in the field of drag-racing, he, with the help of T.C. Lemons, relating at least in part to the loss of a portion of his foot in a drag racing accident, perfected the rear-engine "top fuel dragster design" because of this accident

  • well. i don't get it. whats the point?

  • he cant see over the engine

  • each one of the 8 cylinders has more power than a formula 1 racing car...!!!!

  • @huughjarse

Of course it has, 75 psi of boost and 64 gallons of fuel, comparing to F1 naturally aspirated, using standard race fuel. Top Fuel are fastest accelerating vehicles, F1 bolids are fastest handling vehicles.

  • I wish it made that sound when I prevent rape crimes...;(

  • The guy sittin inside is just like "Yeah, I'm the shit, I know :)"

  • @4455336 would it surprise you if I told you it is a woman behind the wheel? It's young Jessica Anderson, one of the co-owners of the Vagabond AA/FD

  • @murphy91 lol then the GIRL sitting inside :D.

  • Wicked!!!!

  • Chuck Norris's lawnmower.

  • @huughjarse I Love it !!!..Maybe thats the answer...Chuck Norris is why they make nitromethane.

  • @murphy91 Chuck Norris pees Nitromethane.. it's the only source, and the reason it exists. end of story.

  • @DakarNorth ....that would explain a lot of things........

  • jesus around the world in 10 seconds? lol

  • I am sure it is safe (as can be expected) but I do not want that sitting in front of me.

  • Beautiful is all i can say.

  • that supercharger is bigger than most civics whole engine

  • if that things clutch explodes that dude can kiss his balls good bye

  • I would love to put this beast of a powerplant into an old banger & disguise it, - somehow..????

Drive the car around on a back-up engine ( electric,- or 2-stroke, maybe..? )

    - then challenge some wanker in his shiny new Lambo...

  • I love this sound so much i have extracted the sound, stuck it on my itunes and i play it on a loop whilst i sleep so that i dream sweet dreams of nitro.

  • i wonder wat wud happen if u put that in a car

  • hotrod from hell :L

  • best sound in the world!

  • the blower is nearly bigger than the engine! very nice

  • 60 Gallons per mile, but totally worth every last expensive drop.

  • I think god was sitting there one day and said " i wonder what I can give men to pleasure them, since women have shopping " and this damn idea popped into a guys head saying hey i'll make a car that goes so fast it blows my balls off

  • so how does he see?

  • @Heath3250 well since a pass probably only takes about 5 seconds hes probably gritting his teeth holding on for dear life with his eyes shut anyway

  • I need some for my toyota

  • @caganb It would run like a Indy car for about 50 yards.

  • I miss diggers! These are waaayyyy cooler than todays dragsters, IMHO. More dangerous, but way cooler!!!

  • I miss diggers! These are waaayyyy cooler than todays dragsters, IMHO.

  • BETTER THAN SEX!!!

  • @murphy91 no your grade, dude no need to get so upset, you got 1 out of 3 wrong right? unless you got 1 out of 3 right ha then you made a 33!

  • Muita coragem ficar atraz de um motor desses.....

  • What times does it do...its beautifully prepared..well done

  • Haven't heard an elephant in that trim for a while. A+

  • this be mad max

  • girl have vibrators. and guys have these. :-)

  • @MrGizmo757 .....and they wont ask why your'e late for dinner.....

  • @MrGizmo757 hey now im a girl and i race

  • @KatiexKIRA God Bless !!! Thats Cool.........

  • @KatiexKIRA so you do both?

  • @Benji19922 both?

  • @Benji19922 no i dont.

  • @KatiexKIRA

    do you like the vibration

  • @KatiexKIRA Thats just awesome... I think we need more female racers...

  • @KatiexKIRA i been racing since i was nine. i got out of it because everybody at the track was just an ass hole. it was impossible to have a good time anymore. everybody is so damn competitive its difficult to even have a normal conversation. people would run over other people's feet in the pits. get is fights all the time. i took a look around and not a single person there was acting right. every last one of them looked like they were ready to kill somebody. thats when i left.

  • @KatiexKIRA even though i was winning every single race that year. even though i had less money then everybody. i built My own car. and i won 90% of the time using junk parts. so i decided to start building them. people used to call me the car whisperer LOL! now i Run My own Shop and i build about 3 engine a day. personally. all together we turn out about 12 engines a day between 8 people. wild hair monster truck has one. and lots of them are floating around the tractor pulling world.

  • @KatiexKIRA

so your vibrator goes faster and cost more than others????

  • @MrGizmo757 im not sticking my penis in that...

  • @MrGizmo757

    Damn STRAIGHT!

  • alcohol is for drinking, gas is for cleaning parts, and nitro is for racing!

  • @NP535overdrive ....I knew I had it wrong...well, 1 out 3 isn't bad.....

  • @murphy91 lol its a 67 you failed! haha

  • @suprmacdaddy ...I apologize for my improper response.....,maybe I am less than a 33 today....

  • @NP535overdrive I would like to agree with nitro for racing. but the only way i could afford racing is cheep alcohol for my car. but i cant afford racing yet so i guess i could drink some alcohol. just remember drinking and driving don't mix. personally i would rather use alcohol in my car than in me. but i have my days when i consider changing my mind on the role of alcohol in my life.

  • wtf did i just watch?

  • @PresidentAssassin an antique car....

  • @scrotillathehun same thing only it is done with a turbo. You are still "supercharging" the fuel mix but done with a "blower" powered by exhaust. It is all doing the same thing. Like shooting something. Shoot it with a shotgun or a 45 auto pistol it is still shooting and the end result will be simular although one may have a higher velocity or other diff. the result is still something gets shot.

  • It would suck to have a blowout on them back wheels.

  • uum? huh? supercharger and blower are the same thing. turbo uses the exhaust to accelerate the air, supercharger forces air through the intake by being directly mounted to the intake or external and belt driven like the alternator. now, wasnt that easier?

  • @cplpun1 sort of but the exhaust accelerates the turbo not the air directly.it makes no diff where you mount a constant velociety supercharger there is still a manifold.I am not sure what you mean by "external and belt driven..." A turbo is also external.I guess you mean one is powered by the exhaust and the other by the rotation of the crankshaft but we already covered that so; "easier"? I do not see what you think you cleared up.

  • @muhammadisasissy a bov releases pressure trapped before the throttle body. The positive pressure is controlled by a wastegate.

  • @andy781 Only if you are using a blowthrough system. There is no pressure before the throttle butterfly on a drawthrough system. Not all turbos are FI .Perhaps carburators were before your time. Both carbs and FI are used in both blow through (where the turbo only moves air) and draw through where the turbo is drawing fuel/air mix through it.

  • @muhammadisasissy While I understand your statement on the concept of draw thru v. blow thru. ( which coincidentally all can be used to refer to the mounting location of a MAF sensor.) Which is irrelevant . Your initial statement on the use of a bov to control positive pressure. It is merely a bleed valve. I truly hope you don't disagree with me. I have had plenty of experience with TBI, Carb, CIS and EFI systems. Three of which I have installed turbo setups on. A VW Rail, e21 bmw, and 4 240sx.

  • @andy781 Didn't read anything to disagree with. Question:What is irrelevant? The concept or the MAF location? As far as a BOV / bleed valve, I am not sure.Same thing, diff. name? Or diff. operation? If you have been doing this a while (seems so) you know early systems just vented (blew off- bled off) excess pressure to the outside air & no bypass.Still used on draw through systems on Drag Bikes.I guess that I confused it by comparing BOV use with blower and same principle with exhaust turbo.

  • @muhammadisasissy Just the fact that the terminology of draw thru v. blow thru can be used for both MAF positioning and the way the air/fuel mix is introduced.

  • Comment removed

  • nice supercharger

  • bout 5 mpg..lol

  • @luiskablugenize Finally a good answer!!! Thanks. Do you have any other thoughts about this discussion?

  • @muhammadisasissy yes.. they might need a bigger gas tank..lol

  • That car is perfect. Ill take two.

  • Wow look at all the semantics arguments. This isn’t complicated guys. A supercharger is a mechanical device that delivers the air/fuel mix to the clys above atmospheric pressure, thereby increasing its density. There are 3 types of mainstream superchargers, the roots supercharger, the turbo-supercharger, and the centrifugal supercharger. Blower is slang for supercharger but it can also refer to an “air-mover” not an air compressor, used on some old diesels.

  • @Boredout454 It's a 392 (whale motor). Visible hint (not 100% reliable, but 99.5%) is the mag behind the huffer. Historically it's also what they ran. What are we going to do when we run out of iron 392s?

  • you can see the car's exaust that reved beside him........look on the drivers left after he reves it....

  • ok, now people that thought your Civic with custom exhaust was loud and cool..ITS NOT

  • To "supercharge" is a verb. You can "supercharge with a supercharger, blower, or turbo. Supercharger" is a noun specific to one type which compresses the air or fuel mix in the charger body.I know that the terms have gotten to mean the same thing over the years but only in common use not by people using them.

  • @muhammadisasissy ...Thanks for your well schooled & thoughtful input....It's good to know we can always learn something new.......

  • @muhammadisasissy good english... i hope your cars are as good as your mouth...but, that verb... should actually be used ONLY and ONLY when referring to a pulley type aspiration device that boosts engine vacuum...period...

the correct term is "aspirating" a car... even though the English way of writing a non boosted car is "naturally aspirated" you are aspirating the engine... since its always under vacuum... remember?

lol gottcha there buddy... and you cant say no...

  • @240SSONLY I am not sure exactly what you are getting to so I can not say you are wrong.Exactly what did you "get me" at?And, please tell me how you boost vacuum with forced induction? Vacuum where? Is not the "vacuum " in this case caused by the downward movement of the piston? It is just a pump, right? Each cyl. can only draw in it's area under atmospheric press. To get more density you force the charge, not increase the vacuum, or have I missed the point?I know we use diff. terms and I am old

  • @muhammadisasissy lol... well you might be old and you know your stuff... but what you is too... technical with words...

as long as you get the concept of vacuum at idle and driving... vs aspirated / boosted application.... is what matters.

I just had to say some thing, cause i love messing with technical people ... its fun to show my way with words

  • @muhammadisasissy Happy Motoring

  • @240SSONLY I am not trying to argue, just understand. Are you saying a supercharger creates vacuum? It was my understanding that there is no boost until volume from "supercharger" is more than volume of cyl (factoring in area of manifold, drag & resistance.) I was only trying to make the distinction between where the boost is made (although I don't remember why it makes a diff. except for the extra heat created when charge is compressed in the supercharger as in cent. vane) anwyay, interesting

  • @muhammadisasissy i never said it s-charger created vacuum... i dont know why you keep bringing it up... you might of miss-understood what i said

  • @240SSONLY Keep bringing it (vacuum)up? I only mentioned it once in a question about what you were saying.Further, I am anything but technical, just an old backyard builder.I guess part of the problem is that most of what I think I know has come from years of trial & LOTS of error.Terms change and now anyone can buy super modifications for motors rather than build up systems as in the past.Anyway, I hope you are having fun pushing the limits of your equipment. Happy FAST motoring

  • @240SSONLY Got to argue about the "only" use of supercharge as a verb.In dec.'71HotRod there is an article covering Mickey Thompson's use of 4 2000lb tanks of compressed air to to get 35lb boost to a 429 Boss Ford , produceing over 6HP perCI. It was rulled illegal. The ruleing, stated that "SUPERCHARGING by compressed air ...on&on : so atleast in '71 people smarter than I disagree with you."BUT, as Warblade said,"semantics arguements"

  • @muhammadisasissy Why are you bringing up all this irrelevant info... your a back yard mechanic talking like an engineer... yet you dont have much idea of what your saying... you know the concept... but not the reality...

PLEASE read what other type correctly...

and who gives a fuck about hot rod magazine... seriously... 6hp per cyl? im glad the V8s your working on ... make 48HP total... you big ape...

i know you meant 60hp per cylinder... but it just goes to show you... wat your saying is..

  • @240SSONLY Or maybe its 6hp per C i. as in cubic inch. That makes more sense, because 60hp per cyl would not be illegal. thts only 480 hp and that would be too little for 36lb of boost on a boss 429. or any boost for that matter.

  • @Britton529 i agree very much with you... although i dont care about legal emission issues... lol i still agree with your numbers...

and that guy muhammadisasissy... just loves to talk about random technical crap that is very irrelevant to the subject... he likes to throw big words out there to confuse people... to prove he is right.... hahahha ROFL

  • @240SSONLY Nothing especially technical. All basic. Irrelevent? That depends on if you are building a supercharger system, buying one built by someone who knows what he is doing, or talking about the subject..Big words?Confuse people? Are you confused? I am not.

  • @240SSONLY hahaha that muhammad guy got deleted from youtube!!

  • @Uunster thanks for letting me know... i hate cocksuckers that think wrenching is the same as typing...

  • @Britton529 You are correct. It was CI not Cyl. The reason it was made illegal was not because of an excess of HP (I never heard of a rule on that) but that the big high pressure cylinders of gas were ruled a safety problem. That and it could have put a lot of hot rod parts manufactures out of buisness.

  • @240SSONLY You are right, I ment CI not Cyl. but the figures are correct. As for "who gives a .... about Hot Rod mag."???? Where do you think the sport got it's info from before computers? You are also right, I, like most racers who started this sport, am a backyard mechanic.I built my supercharger setups back when you had to know your "engineering" instead of just buying what someone else built.Did you build your system? Could you build your system? "Big Ape"?? I'm irrelevent?

  • @muhammadisasissy yes i can... actually... i choose to buy special bearings from australia (the garret manufacturer) instead of buying crappy turbo bearing directly from garret... i´ve been mapping turbos and VE formulas for years now... so yes... i can build my own ''systems''

i started to reply to get a laugh from you and others... it was a simple comment to laugh about, but i see this has turned into a '' who knows more about nothing '' convo... so keep thinkin what you want...

  • @240SSONLY You said for me to "read what other type". While misspelled, I understand but it is you who needs to read what "others" type. I re read my post and I di
