we dropped ours from like 75 ft and i put mine in peanut butter and it lasted but i put the peanut butter jar in a big can so it could survive the drop or you can cut a foam football in half and put the egg in it and the duct tape it back together that works to

I dont know man, you can prolly check out homedepot or stores like that. I was lucky cuz i found these in a watch case.( it's like a box, and there were some sponges in it)
Yeah, something big and soft should really help. And I never tried filling water into the container(if that's what you mean), it should be an interesting idea tho. But the rule of our contest was not only to insure the egg survive every around, also, you got more points if ur container bounces higher and weight less. So adding water in this case would increase the mass.
Anyway, I think there were like 3 or 4 containers kept the eggs survive after couple arounds, I thought mine was gonna be the winner, since it was pretty light and always bounced the highest, somehow we ended up with 2nd since the other group actually had the lightest container (ours was 2nd lightest.) lol
well, our contest is like who's container fall down on the ground the fastest wins, and of course you can't break the egg.
I am trying to use peanut butter, i think it'll be better than water?? if i am using peanut butter, shall i use sponge as well if i use the peanut better??
lol,I dun know if peanut butter will be better than water or not, but if you are having no problem with peanut butter, I wont want to add sponge. Btw, I think its hard to measure who's container fall down on the ground the faster as its hard to make sure everyone releases the container (drop it) at the same time and at exactly the same height.
the material you are using is hard packed styrofoam, which is too hard to absorb shock, rather the transfer of energy goes directly into the egg, thus the explosion. the glass bottle would have worked if you had set a cushion of air to reduce the initial shock. the glass bottle would shatter, displacing a significant amount of energy, but not all. your final incarnation works because the foam padding displaces the initial first shock, while the tumbling motion reduces the pain.
wat type of watch was it cause i need those sponges

have you ever tried water before??
is it like if you don't want to break it, you basically need somthing big and soft and which absorb shock.
Am i right??

yeh.. you're right, but still i don't think so many ppl can throw it down from the sixth floor without breaking the egg anyway.
or maybe they might release by the same person i dunno.
Btw how high you throw your container down??
ching962 3 years ago
like 10 meters. Not really high

When I had to do this I Suspended my egg in a JELL-O mold. it worked from a 50 ft drop.
On the second go egg and cherry jello exploded all over my schools atrium floor, which is what i was aiming for anyway.
