  • I dunno. So many of them in Vietnam... must be sort of useless. How didn't US control the air space and smash Vietcong to pieces with so many of them?

  • It's a thing of beauty. As famous as Hollywood and as American as apple pie.

  • damn... kids don't make comment if you only play some stupid games and think you know it all... jeez

  • this beauty should have been in position number 1.

  • Fav. helicoper ever! :3

  • ei ole kovin hyyyyyyyyyvä

  • 9 Kills

  • @TheALEJANDROCORDOVA nope, i have HARDLINE

  • @eelisful LOL

  • @TheALEJANDROCORDOVA LOL = Laughing Out Loud = XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD

  • *Gets nine kills without dying* calls in Huey!

Thumbs up if you knew about the Huey before Call of duty Black Ops!

  • @ZGzoids Huey is byfar, the best - They even modified it to the standards of the Z Super Cobra.

  • @Tyco200 Oh YEAH!

  • @ZGzoids Battlefield: Vietnam taught me how to LOVE the Huey.

  • @TraustiGeir I play that to but the Vietnam BF2 Huey can be taking down a lot more easier. However, I still love it.

  • @ZGzoids most people watching this vid would cod gets the size dimensions way wrong.

  • lol going from a VW to a caddy more like the other way round

  • I still think this is the best Helicopter of all time!

  • The CH 146 Griffin is the child of the Huey and is still a great aircraft. The pick up truck of combat helicopters. Cheap, capable, reliable. Basicly the good old Huey with 2 engines.

  • the things is all i have to do is get 9 kills to get it

  • My favorite helicopter of all time :)

  • "Enemy Huey inbound"

  • dang too bad. the huey truly deserved to be a winner well it is when i killed 20 nva in black ops.

  • you said you flew the Huey in the operation ''desert storm''? to help Kuwait? i live there.

  • "The Huey took the multi-role concept to the limit and beyond: utility, med-evac, gunship, and transport. It certainly stands as a vehicle ahead of its time."

  • The guy who said ''from your Volkswagen to your Cadillac '' is mad. I would rather have a 69 beetle than a Cadillac. Also a cool helicopter.

  • @robwtsn106

    UH.

    You do YOUR homework.

The Huey WAS and IS a multipurpose helicopter.

Gunship, taxi and also used to transport vehicles.

  • @UBIQUEROL Its also used for firefighting and a bunch of civilian roles, this heli can do everything.

  • @71SuperSportChevelle What I was trying to say is that a Cadillac, although admittably better than a VW, is not all that great. But I do agree with you that the CTS-V is one badass looking car! :)

  • i always think of Apocalypse Now when i see those helicopters

  • VW to Cadillac???? Lol!!! That's ok though I know what he's saying!

  • @Awesomechild96 Lol you are out of your mind if you would take a volkswagen over a Cadillac, Cadillact CTS-V>>>>>>>>> anything VW has ever produced...

  • Why isn't the pavelow on this list?

  • @XxrSam go back to mw2 kid.

  • i got one of them but i dont have the mini guns so i put .50 cal mg on it

  • they should of played fortunate son during this vid

  • I was surprised this helicopter is not #1

  • our goverment is still using huey becaus thats there only choper ahehehehe weak goverment

  • @joseft30, as a Huey fan, UH-1 Huey is a very great helicopter actually. Only thing bad about it against modern helicopters is that a basic UH-1 Huey with only one engine can't carry as much loads of supplies unlike many modern helicopters. But UH-1's are a easy, reliable, and much much more.

  • @USSOCOMpower you do realive the uh1 venom has 2 engines

  • @BlackOut5n, UH-1Y Venom isn't a basic huey.

  • @USSOCOMpower yes i know that it heavily upgraded but it still can be considered a huey

  • I'm expecting 2 to be black hawk

    1 apache

  • flying legend

  • heh, Fortunate son played in my mind right after the vid started

  • this should be number 1

it IS the helicopter oof Vietnam

it Is THE med evac that you'd want to see when your in shit

hell it even could be used as a gun ship.

ffs this and the hind shoud be equal

  • this chopper is unbelievable too man this chopper shot down our very own russian an1 biplane during the vietnam war i cant believe it a helicopter shoots down a fight biplane?

  • Going from Volkswagen to Cadillac :D AHAHAHA...Like cadillac could be better in any regard :D.

  • fuck UH-1 Huey MUST BE THE NO1!

  • it look likes a black hawk

  • @killer5000ii the black hawk is the predisecor

  • @xdyenastyx

you mean the black hawk is the successor

  • at least this chopper is one of the best helicopters i like its performance and versatility

  • @dimitboris yea it should be #1

  • @killer5000ii yeah the hid should be no 6

  • @killer5000ii i mean the hind

  • @Thedarkcountry ya but not all where to combat. crashes, etc etc,. many things are lost in wars but not always in combat.

  • ya...sorry but the Huey should be number 1.

  • Lol, "Like going from your Volkwagen to a Cadillac". Typical American arrogance.

  • @Beeraaron well not all americans are arrogant lol but certainly alot...

  • the reason we didnt win in vietnam was all the damn assholes in washington, not letting our boys do a proper job, the same way obama if messing up iraq

  • @boats752, dude Iraq is mainly over. We took down the Genocide Government, gave them a strong police force which can handle it's own crimes, deal with most street crimes, build thousands of schools hospitals, and send tons of health efforts over there there's nothing else to do there's just rebels around now which every country has them. We won it already, we mainly won it when we took over capital after that we were fixing the country. There's no need for Iraq anymore.

  • thats true matt i even remembered my wife's father who said to me when the americans are still in vietnam theyre almost winning but the civilians in america wanted the american soldiers to withdraw thats the whole story of the vietnam war unlike in afghanistan we russians really lost

  • i flew with 82nd med-a-vac in nam for two years from 67-69,if it had not been for the uh-1d's,i believe that our death toll would have gone way over the 100,000 count, these air craft saved a lot of lives as well as help kill a butt load of the enemy....hhhhhhhooooooooooooaaaaaa its funny but today i have a love for the vietmames people i never thought id ever have..

  • Griffins are not huey's

  • canada still uses hueuys but we call them griffin's

  • eurocopter tiger belongs on this list

  • As of 2008, the Marines were still flying AH-1s and UH-1s in Iraq. I saw a pair fly into COB Speicher near Tikrit.

  • Love that sound! But i imagine that to the grunts down in the "shit" in Vietnam, it had to sound like all of heaven's angels singing at once when you heard them flying in to get you out of the hell hole you're in. I live close to an air base that has a few hueys, I hear them flying over my house from time to time.

  • "To be deterred, you have to be deterred." Truer words have never been spoken.

  • great helicopter...probably only one that truly deserves to be where it is on this list based on the wide spectrum of aircraft covered...pioneering, versatile, still used after almost 50 years

  • a UH-1 Heuy, stolen from the Argentines in the Falkland wars, Flew above us 5 meter when it came to land

    Was such an epic sight

  • one of the best choppers ever built. it was years ahead of its time when it entered service back in the sixtys and there is still loads in frotline service threw out the world today . got a flight in a Bell 212 civilian version of UH1N when i was a kid and i loved it.

  • I agree its an awesome helicopter but not that it was ahead of its time. I think in the 60s it was time for the helicopter to be perfected.

  • @ArticCat66 the 1 thing that would make it alot better is 4 rotors instead of 2.... but other than that..i love it, and i always will. It will always be the top chopper lol

  • my dad just loves the sound of the huey, during the vietnam war,he would just cheer because he heard australian or american hueys fly past

  • Volkswagen to cadilac? isn't that sort of a downgrade? I'd understand going from a Mini to a Porche...

  • lol

I guess depends on the car. VW bug to Cadillac CTS is like... yea huge upgrade. There are no cheap Cadillacs. They're luxury cars no necessarily performance.

  • Comment removed

  • ah, well that makes sense :D

  • Volkswagen to your Cadilac....wow what a step up....

  • face it no one won the vietnam war in fact every country kinda lost in a way

  • How much for one of these ? I want one !

  • this is NO:3

    that's bullcrap,

this is the best multipurpose helicopter ever built

  • dude the reason is that we have better helicopters we commemorated the UH-1 because it is ONE of the best helicopters ever used. im an American and i agree with the No.3 spot and am happy the UH-1 in on it.

  • @UBIQUEROL dats possible wen u make americasbest top 10 lists not d world's !!!!

  • @UBIQUEROL well it does have the longest service leanght but i still agree with you thet it is the best helicopter!

  • @UBIQUEROL if wasnt for the minimum small arms protection it would've been

  • Dude we didnt get our assed kicked by the Vietnamese. we got our ass kicked to get out of vietnam by the civilians. We coudlve won but too man were dying and the Vietnam was a Stalemate the North Vietnamese lost more than us we just would be in a revolution if we didnt leave

  • 4,000,000 VC killed, 50,000 U.S. Troops Killed. yeah dude we really did get our asses kicked. now politically, yeah we did get it handed to us.

  • how would they ever even know how many VC were killed? did they count the bodies? ya, sure they did. guess you could say, all those names on the wall got their asses kicked, all the guy lives destroyed, by that war got their asses worse then kicked, they still live it every day of their lives. its easy to talk shit on your keyboard, when you don't know what war really is. remember we LOST that police action.

  • @MustaineRock 1 Million Communist Killed

    500,000 Capitalist killed

  • In Vietnam? because Americans *didn't* get their asses handed to them, they did exceptionally well. In fact the kill ratios there were unprecedented. It wasn't until after the peace treaty was signed and US left that North decided to break it and invade South again and that's how it was lost. If we knew that was gonna happen and stayed another year it would have clearly been a win.

If US was defeated in Vietnam War, it was by American media/politicians or trusting N. Vietnam with ceasefire.

  • @OlderG0ds He who defends all defends nothing.

  • @BigMatt5290 Winning would have meant genocide though. The North Vietnamese would not have capitulated. They were fighting for their freedom from colonial powers - they would've fought till the last man.

  • @BigMatt5290 With the billions of weapons and technology you still lost to a bunch of Poorly armed Farmers and Communist Freedom fighters lol you should be ashamed of yourself.

  • @InfantryFodder93 Poorly Armed? They had SAMs, AK-47's, and others supplies supplied by the Communists so they weren't poorly armed. They fought Guerrilla Warfare which was one of our first times to experience it used upon us. We thought we were fighting a conventional war for a long time. In no way were they poorly armed or commanded. They were a very organized Country. And it wasnt really a Freedom Fighter kind of thing since they split into North and South so it was a invasion of the South.

  • @BigMatt5290 Couldn't be more true right there.

  • @BigMatt5290 in vietnam you were winning that war comrade by 1967 the nva suffered heavy losses thats why they launched tet as their last hope but you broked their offensive in vietnam you did not lose it in the battlefields you won most of the battles and secured most of the grounds :) a comment from russia in vietnam you lost politically but militarily you did not

  • @dimitboris Good education. Americans and me know that it was lost political grounds, Unlike some people who think that US troops get it's assed kicked.

  • @publicmario17 about in vietnam by 1967 the nva were really in a losing war when u.s. fought actively :) and thats why the nva launched tet but failed misserably those guys who think u.s.a. lost in vietnam militarily fuck off stop putting retarded comments in tet it was a clear american victory the nva and vc attempts were crushed :) in afghanistan we russians lost militarily and politically the mujahideen are smarter than the nva and vc

  • @dimitboris Of course we didnt lose more but the fact remains that throughout history americans hate seeing thousands of body bags coming from war and so they protested and after controversial photos of the Tet Offensive were revealed the public went crazy. We did lose militarily. Our strategic objective was to protect South Vietnam. We Failed. Because of a loss of support we had to leave and because of that Vietnam is communist today.

  • @BigMatt5290 but in tet you won the nva and vc really failed you didnt lose vietnam militarily le duc tho and your henry kessinger signed the paris peace treaty after that its over so you didnt lose the south vietnamese did

  • @BigMatt5290 but you did not lose in vietnam militarily while you were there the nva kept failing of capturing saigon after your costly but successful operation linebacker ii the north vietnamese sent le duc tho to the paris peace treaty to sign the peace treaty with your henry kessinger after that hostilities between you and north vietnam is overin 1967 the nva was losing that is why they launched tet as their last hope of victory however your army crushed it

  • @BigMatt5290 and after tet the nva and vc were weakening they werent able to launch another BIG offensive until 1982 easter offensive but again your air force halted their advance. and your air force destroyed many of their tanks back at 1967 the nva suffered hundreds of thousands of soldiers dead

  • we didn't get our ass kinked in vietnam 1 we learned alot about insurgent fighting over there and we would've won if the dumbass hippies would have kept their asses off drugs and kept their mouths shut!

  • In vietnam America was fighting all the communist world, north korea, china and soviet union, plus American people hated the war

  • Learn some history before you start saying shit like that

  • damn i miss that sound.

  • LOL BILL MURRAY!!!

  • The whoop thing is just the retreating blade. We were all just infantry,,we all just had gun fights. And in Vietnam, I can assure that my platoon will kill all of you.

  • huey, the unforgetable sound of its rotor blades and its inmense utility in war makes this helicopter a God in its specie.(now the blackhawk is trying to get its position)

  • the huey has been in every american soldier's heart since vietnam war and until now

  • Volkswagen to Cadillac. LOL!

  • VW to Cadilac ?

Thats like downgrading in every aspect

  • but cadilacs are shit? would much rather a vw hhaha

  • Yes its an upgrade modernization of the UH1H airframe...not a production aircraft

  • The current powerplant for the Bell UH1 Huey are two Pratt and Whitney T400s rated at 1800 shaft. They haven't had the single engine since the 70's, when the Uh1h and F's were in service...

  • If you had bothered to check Bell Textron's own website you would know that they still do produce a single engine Huey powered by a Honeywell T53-L-703 engine.

  • Volkswagen to a Cadillac?.... I'd take a Passat W-12 over most of the Cadillac range... haha

    Ok, back to helicopters now...

  • love these things in battlefield :D

  • Whoomp sound? Sound of freedom!!!! do you know how much does it cost??

  • the UH-1 is coming back fans! the UH-1Y is coming, but unfourtunatly its lost its "whoomp" sound

  • This will always be the best transport helicopter, when the last blackhawk crashes the huey will pick them up :)

The Huey doesn't fly, IT BEATS THE AIR INTO SUBMISSION :D

  • american bullshit!!!!!!!!11

  • I really exept that best chopper is sikorsky...same crap and different wings.Only one kamov ka-50 or in instruction ka-52 will toast you hamburgers...we just trained whit navyseals on finland...shut up. you ain´t world police anymore...punch of pussies.

  • A toasted hamburger you say? That sounds rather gross, sir.

  • shut the fuck up you stupid ass finn. go read some history.

  • in the philippines.

The philippine air force os using that helicopter.

  • ya I don't know lol it should be first I mean hell ppl are still using it today. it's a damn fine helo.

  • Yeah, the good ol' "slick". Mr. Victor Charles hates them, always a good thing. Tough bird and still flying today.

  • That is a chopper with a mannish character.. It's rugged and tough, loud noise, lots of drink and smoke.. Ain't nothing like a Huey..

  • THIS HAVE TO BE THE FIRST!

  • I'm going to have to say this as my #1 choice.

It's done so much in it's career, and is still going headstrong in many armed forces.

  • agreed definitely my favorite chopper

  • @USMCommando And will be for the next 20 years for the Corps, cannot wait for the new built Yankee models.

  • The UH-1 was an awesome helicopter. Rugged and Reliable. Its like a pickup truck it can take a beating and still fly. Had that get u home qualities

  • This shitty heli is Number 3 and Hind is on 6 ? Dream on

  • No, I think i bunch of professionals opinion is better than yours from playing video games

  • I.m sure i've seen these fitted with a nose turret...

  • Again as the US Army Heli pilots will tell you, when the last UH 60 Blackhawk is retired to the Boneyard, a Huey will come to pick them up and take'em home....As always..

    CavLoh

  • The Uh-1 Huey is the greatest helicopter of all time, if only for it's iconic values.

  • stinger missiles blow pretty much any helicopter away. it was just the environment in which they operated in the Mi 24's

  • Why don't they mention the M134s as the primary weapons?

Those are iconic, and were quite common.

  • the M134s are the 7.62mms. M134s use 7.62s.

  • It's true the M134 uses 7.62mm rounds but I interpret "7.62mm Machine Gun" as an M60 - which they did use on the Huey.

  • true true, the M60 was still good.

  • hey uh-1 is top ten helicopter number 1!

  • what the fuck a mi 24 hind blows that away

  • Stinger missile blows mi 24 away. Sorry to have to break your rice bowl.

  • what is SO special? an apachi was shot down by an enfield 303 in iraq! WW2 vintage seen it on the news

  • BTW,

I have seen a post that said with out the Cobra the LOACH would have never made it...consider the Cav White teams in Viet Nam...2 Loaches..but I will admit, having the High Bird above was a great feeling, and them Boys were VERY GOOD!!

    CavLoh

  • HUEY ROX

  • Whoah.. Bill Murray who is interviewed in this piece was my next door neighbor when I was a kid near Ft. Rucker. My father flew hueys for years and years in Viet Nam and at Ft.Rucker. He misses them. So do I. It was cool to be a kid whose father flies around in circles over your house to impress you despite the *rules.*

  • "Get some!"

  • Might not be showy, puterized an all that, but it was and is the best airframe ever made!

this not the C-130 is the true iron bird! baby.

The US Gen's did this Chopper a disservice by placeing the Blackhawk upfront! if your tired of em give em to me! really, i love em put one in my back yard I wax it everyday!

    Love ya Huey lol

  • i agree, the best helicopter ever devised

  • I was in Logar province Afghanistan when I heard that distinctive WOP WOP WOP of the huey...it was a two helicopter run from the Italian Marine Corp to a prt meeting. Damn it was great to see those 2 birds. Had to tell some younger guys what the hell they were...intel guys still use em as well!

  • was the Lynx modeled after the Huey?

also, I can't believe it got to #3 spot, it got shot down way too much

  • But the huey inspired the cobra, the cobra inspired the apache, and the apache inspired the commanche. Huey was legendary.

  • The Lynx is a very fine machine, but in the real world has very little, or next to none, combat time...the exposure in combat of the Uh-1 series is beyond reproach...agree? Say hundreds of thousands combat missions?...The quality of the Huey may have been considered in the Lynx profile, but with advanced tech and info, thanx to the Huey...Shoot down exposure equals combat time...the Lynx has none...

    CavLoh

  • I wasn't comparing it to the Lynx, just wondering if it was molded after the Huey. The Lynx had tons of experience in the Gulf war though. What I'm saying is the Huey didn't revolutionize anything or do anything outside the box. Was it fast for it's time? Did it provide better protection than others at the time? Military Channel doesn't account for lots of things

  • The Huey was the first military Helo with a gas turbine engine, and from there on it, the Huey, demonstrated a versatility that was par excellence for the time....Troop carriers, Medevac, Gunship, Spy gear, Smoke machine, mesquito duster, Sling loads, flare ship...the Huey was revolutionary as It, on its own, brought the reality of an effectual military helicopter in combat conditions..sent notice of demise to the recip's...H34,OH13,OH23, H21, and the Mojave...

    Thanx for the post, Brnout...

  • but if you take into consideration the vast number of them then no it didn't

  • Huey is #1. the UH-1 is the gold standard for helicopters.

  • For me this would be no.1. the Apache just hasn't done enough compared to this.

  • Once a Huey Allways a Huey

sorry Discovery chanell but the huey should be the # 1

  • if you have never flown or been in you dont say its the best, because its not i work with these things and yes they are neat but nothing compared to the uh-60... dont be lame

  • IT is the BEST...and always will be(Xcept the OH6:)..The Huey had a rep in Viet Nam for forgivin the hurt and a heavy handed pilot...choppen tree branches to get in the hover hole...Been there done that in Cambode..In flight school, Rucker, flew the A model with L-7 engines..1959 Model..S60..Strong Bird, and in capable hands a fine machine..never flown one but did the Huey thing in Nam,and OH6s.CivvyCapt212s,412sS76,Pumas and the S92.From SAR to fire fighting, nights offshoreIFR..Etc.

    Rog

  • more than half of a century in service.

  • do they use them in iraq

if i were to sign up in the military, how would i become a helicopter pilot?

  • They are used in oversea combat & other missions. ask a recruiter

  • Look into the U.S. Army Warrent Officer program. It will require you to be enlisted first(no more high school to flight school), so pick a MOS in the 15 series to get yourself used to aviation. I am an active duty UH-60/UH-1 crewchief (15T/15M MOS)
