the bailout plan has functioned before, it was part of the New Deal for the Great Depresion
the bonuses were part of the contracts of this people so the government should have suposed that they were going be paid with the bailout money

yeah, when we lent money to the auto companies though, it was unquestionably assumed that the auto workers' contracts would be broken and renegotiated as part of their company's recovery.
Its the same thing. They're both contracts. Granted, the financial biz works on bonuses, and some people had to be enticed to stay b/c they had unique knowledge of the derivatives contracts.
Still, they need a reality check. The economy is fucked, and they must feel it like everyone else.

If the crisis persists for long, the people's money-orientated mind will fade away, and they will look for alternative ways of life. So the rebirth of the hippie movement is a possibility. They'll try to create a new free society, which won't work out. When the crisis is over, people will return to put money as the reason for living again and the neo-hippie movement will end sadly, becoming a motive for mockery. So the story goes on again . . . until the next crisis.
