high i've heard many negative things about wolf mixes and that they are very confused breeds as they have both wild and domestic mentalities. Is this the same with this breed? what is their temperament like? how are they when they meet new dogs? are they sociable? i am interested i getting this breed so i would very much appreciate a response if possible, thank you
This breed is recognised by the FCI as an official dogbreed. It is not a wolf hybrid, meaning there is no more crossing it back with wolves and it is at least 5 generations away from breeding with the wolf. I am saying this to avoid confusion of the Czech Wolfdog being seen as a hybrid, he is not. As for its character, it is a dog, but certainly not an easy dog and not a beginners dog, Having said that, when properly socialised at young age, it is a social dog towards people.
and it is socialble to most other dogs, but not to all. Smaller dogs are mostly no problem, but with large dogs the Czech Wolfdog tends to show dominance. For all information, please visit wolfdog.org, it is the worldwide website of the breed and it contians loads of information.
@neil182sr, yes, they are very trainable. That is, when they are being motivated the right way. Intelligent as they are, they need variation, it won't work to repeat the same exercise more than 3 times, they won't react. But... they will learn that fast, that repetition is not needed. :-)
Lovely video! Really beautiful!

@Ottokar0712 Thank you very much for the advise, sound like early socialisation is the key. are they very responsive to training?
