  • Great quality, music and vid :)

  • Grown up with The Beatles, The Stones, and Everything After ((!) - this is the best song I know. So normal, so quiet, so -kicking-to-the-feet - everytime I hear it. Thx for posting, man! P.S.: For those, you drive cars: "Easy Living" - Uriah Heep, You have to open the windows! (or Lucky Man - ELP). Take care and dont drink and drive ;-). It is not forbitten to smoke yet.

  • This song makes me wanna go out and live life to the fullest when im feeling a little low...

  • Great upbeat tune. Thanks for posting.....

  • TRY LISTENING TO THIS WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING... THAT'S WHY I CALL THIS DRIVING MUSIC. YOU CAN DRIVE THRU TREES AND BRICK WALLS WHILE LISTENING TO THIS SHIT - JUST TRY IT!!!

  • @MATTMILLER1962 I totally agree with you man.I wish i could try it with a 1969 Dodge Charger or a same year Ford Mustang

  • A bona fide classic!! If you get a chance, check out the rest of the album.....its even better! Thanx for uploading this clip :)

  • this is the worlds first forehead.

  • This is what im gonna play when i drive my first car! :P

  • The bands your listening to now no one will remember by the time you're 18

  • the problems of 1979 are nothing compared to those of today. I go to these old songs to escape.

  • gracias a Dios esta música existe,es real y puedo escucharla cuantas veces quiera..

  • great song, i think one of the BEST things about music is hearing an old song like this and remembering who you were were dating, who you hung out with and just how GREAT life was when you were YOUNG!

  • @slugtoe I'm 16, and dreading the moment I begin to look back on the terrible music my generation listens to. I apologize, on the behave of my entire age group and their bad taste in music.

  • More Reverb!!

  • that guy singing in the back ground is awesome

  • Always loved this song I remember having the album it was called Fickle Heart.

The rest of the album really sucked. In my opinion of course =]

  • A gay singing about a woman.

  • @izri1 An ignoramus trying to post a thought.

  • @izri1- hes not gay

  • One of those moment in time songs, finally charted late Summer 1979. When I hear "Drivers Seat", I also think of "Hey St. Peter" by Falsh and The Pan...both were playing on the airwaves at the same time.

Drivers Seat...one of my top 10 songs of all time...catchy...still fresh after all of these years.

  • Samuel L. Jackson on backing vocals

  • this is one of those cool kick ass songs that comes on the radio and you remember but wonder who the hell it was. still one hell of a great song. love the sound.

  • The new version of this song is "Good Feeling" from Flo Rida. I think this song song was the inspiration. Anyone disagree?

  • @gnyhwy Difficult to say.. but I agree that you found this catch.. songs are quite similar.

  • Comment removed

  • @GhostsInMyAttic Did you mean to say that "nobody" here istens to Flo Rida? Well, I can tell you I am a 45 year old married white woman-and I listen to Flo Rida. Just today I blasted "I Get a Good Feeling" on Youtube. I see no need for music snobbery-there are a great many songs in all genres. Try to have a more open mind. I'm off to listen to the Stones-Gimme Shelter, and then some Run-DMC-Rockbox. And then maybe some Eminem...Peace.

  • @Lisa4174 Thanks for taking my comment completely out of context, You must be a Democrat...lol

  • @GhostsInMyAttic Exactly how did I take your comment out of context? I read the exchange. And you assume you know my party affiliation by what? The fact that I corrected your sentence, which implies that I am a college grad? (Correct assumption-and add grad school as well) Or because I am asking for open mindedness and a fair dialogue-oh yes, now I know why you would think I am an educated, informed, open minded person-and by that deduction, a Democrat. Thank you. Peace :)

  • @Lisa4174 That is funny. I am a 41yr old married white man and listen to all that stuff that you have mentioned to, including a lot of the new stuff. Plus I use to be a massive metal head in the 80s.

  • @gnyhwy Don't disagree -- but also don't forget the legendary Etta James!

  • @gnyhwy I don't think it is the same beat-it is similar, though. And I'm not ashamed to say I LOVE that song.

  • Yes. When music was real. Thank GOD for youtube.

  • When music was real

  • I saw that lead singer in Close Encounters Of The Third Kind.

  • my maths teacher was in this band!!! the guy at the back in the first 8 seconds!!!!!

  • muchos recuerdos de esta rola... estaba en segundo de secundaria en la 2 maestro rafael ramirez de mexicali bc... Generacion 1978/1981

  • Great instrumentation and very good back up vocals and harmonies. Great song.

  • @chicagocubs1rf Yep they are really in sync...lol pun intended =]

  • Great sound quality, They tried to relive this hit by writing another song called "Driving Beat it was awful =]

  • This was catchy stuff.

  • i was 11 and remember this tune. wow!

  • A transitional song for me from the 70's to the 80s... bits of both eras in there.

  • When I was a kid, I thought the lyrics were "Drive Asleep"

  • @MervynCruddy When I was a kid I thought they said "Dry the Sea".

  • @MervynCruddy

    LOL...thx!

  • That poor drummer, He`s busting his ass.

  • The last 45rpm I ever bought....still have it too. :)

  • this song was one of the best lil known tracks of all time

    1979

  • instant classic

  • This song is always good for a few speeding tickets!

  • I remember first hearing this back in 79` on the radio.Cool tune.

  • Remember flying down the highway to this song in my '73 Ford Maverick. '79 wasn't a bad year for music...or for teenagers

  • Somebody in this band had a 'leg fetish' ;)

  • This song will always remind me of my best friend Chris who sadly drank himself to death a few years back, can still picture him playing his guitar and singing this, miss you and love you brother. I love how music can bring back memories of our past. Rock, punk or funk, a well written song will always touch your sold.

  • When it came on the radio, I remember the DJ saying this song was actually composed in 1973 but only released five years later.

  • this is another great song, too bad it was their best song.the front man, is a fantastic painter,a lot of very interesting art

  • 1979 was definitely a great year for music. Much less of a schism between the music that was popular and the music that was good. I've interviewed Paul Roberts, the leader of Sniff, pretty extensively. They released a very good album called "Downstream" earlier this year.

  • man this brings so much back, wish i was 18 all over again

  • Damn. '79. My Dad died that year. I was 13. Went to my first concert that year, it was Uriah Heep & Rush. I remember this song getting played on the radio a lot, pretty sure I had the 45. Smoked a lot of reefer in those days. Young lust with a North Side girl. Good to remember.

    Namaste.

  • youtubes volume isn't high enough for this one, so i connected my pc to my receiver via the headphone jack!

    Ah, thats better :)

  • The bass player is a teacher at my school lol

  • this is my favorite song. i was 22 years old when it came out!

  • the one on the bass is now my maths teacher!!! mr burkin!!!!!!

  • 16 years old,Grew up around Lincoln Lawrence&Western my 1st car a Vega...

  • Sniff & The Tears in 1979 were Luigi Salvoni (drums ) , Loz Netto (guitars) , Chris Birkin (bass) , Mick Dyche (guitars) , Alan Fealdman (keyboards) , Keith Miller (synthesizer) , Paul Roberts (vocals , acoustic guitar ) .

  • This is one of those songs that I turn way up when it comes on the radio. I loved it when it was a hit, I was about 12 years old, just getting into music. I think My Sharona was a hit about the same time, and Africa by Toto.

  • One of the most amassing songs ever!!!!!!!!!!

  • As a One Hit Wonder, for some reason, this didn't do it for me. I guess it wasn't a tune i like hearing on the radio. Some tunes work more visually than audioly. Oh well...

  • someone cut me!!!!!

  • This song is one of my all-time favorites! The drummer really worked out on this one. I liked the whole band

  • @10solidrocks I can hear the quick tempo on the quarter notes . You got to keep your head out of your ass playing drums on this .

  • @Medic83301 The drummer is very, very skilled...his name is Luigi....for the life of me I have let his last name slip from my memory at the moment. He may have a son named James who is also a drummer....

  • @10solidrocks His name is Luigi Salvoni and he was with them until 1982 .

  • @Medic83301 Thank you, Medic! I can't imagine what made me forget his last name....and it isn't age. Anyway, last I read, Luigi was back in Italy making renovations to the family estate.....another musician of interest is the young looking guitar player...Luke, I think his name is.....I'm probably off the beam their too but I did read about him at length a couple of years ago and it was very interesting what he was doing in his life...ditto with the lead singer

  • @10solidrocks Sniff & The Tears on Driver's Seat . Paul Roberts (vocals , acoustic guitar ) , Alan Fealdman (keyboards) , Keith Miller (synthesizer) , Mick Dyche (guitars) , Loz Netto (guitars) , Chris Birkin (bass) , Luigi Salvoni (drums ) .

  • @Medic83301Bingo! Loz Netto was who I was thinking about when I said his name was Luke.....ha! Thanks for the names of the band members! I have read about the singer wearing the dark glasses....he has really made a name for himself as well...in London

  • OMFG!! This song, lol. This was on 'Rock 80.' Thumbs up if you had that record. :p

  • my dad bought me this 45 when i was 8 cuz we both loved the song. oh dad you were so awesome!

  • @anahata58 My 8 year old loves this song too. I think I'll buy it for him ;-)

  • i remember this tune so well. so cool, so groovy.

  • @ParanormalPat SO 70's ! :)

  • YEAAEAEHH!

  • the bass player is my maths teacher :-)

  • The guy playing bass is a now a maths teacher at my school!! :D

  • I forgot about this song until I saw BOOGIE NIGHTS! Great song for an 11 year old at the time. I was into Devo though.........Still apprciate these old songs though! Makes me want to get laid!LOL

  • This is why, even as a teen, I found most videos anti-climactic to what went on in my mind when I heard songs. The imagination is so much more vivid than most things that can be shown on video. I LOVED this song, but it's not how I imagined the band.

  • Great song...but why does everybody (except the back up singer look so bored? Never understood that in the early days of video how bands we're so bored with their own music.

  • @guyinthebooth

I guess they just wanted to look "cool".

Everyone wanted to look cool then - I must admit: Me, too...

  • This song was in the sound track to "Boogie Nights," which was an odd dark movie. I'd rather it didn't have this song in it, but it brought the song back for me. I'd forgotten about it. I was a teenager with a new black Trans Am in 79, and life was grand. My friends would rag me about girls only going for the car, and I was like, "I'm only seeing them for their tits....same thing." It was a simpler time. (sigh)

  • I love this song. It makes me want to jump in a car and go out lookin' for tail. I just wish I could hear the sound a little louder.

  • What guitar is the lead guitarist playing? Looks like it's Guild or Gibson- sorta...

  • I remember this song. I didn't know there was a video or promo clip for the song.

  • Ever hear this song at 3 in the morning when you can't sleep? It is hauntingly, frighteningly beautiful. As I listen in the light, just a magic fantastic song.

  • @42awww I wanna smoke a joint with you! lol.

  • thats it i had 5

  • @dieselheart001 LMAO. You're lucky to be alive. I dated girls who were friends with each other, but never sisters. I salute you.

  • @boonmcbwen Did they get dizzy?

  • @boonmcbwen go fuck yourself

  • @boonmcbwen 1979 was a good year for me too ! I turned 17 and entered my junior year in high school that August and dated two different girls . I also got my Red Cross First Aid and American Heart Association CPR card that summer and went to work after school 3 days a week as a junior ambulance aide for our local ambulance service .

  • @boonmcbwen i wish i had that problem! lol!

  • @boonmcbwen hey stud we were so lucky!we grew up in the seventies-awesome song.remember singing to this with friends riding in the back of my friends subaru brat after school on a friday night after school!

  • @The096757 pin head asshole...

  • "The future is video...." BOOGIE NIGHTS

  • Grossly underrated band.

  • I wish we could have seen more of them fantastic legs and who they belonged to ?!

  • C L A S S I C

  • My friend told me last year the name of the song. I always thought the refrain was Travesty. That's a lot of years not knowing the name of this popular song.

  • @sartellman Hehehe, I always thought it was "Privacy", then I thought it was "Drive & See".

  • why doesn't everyone in the world know about this fabulous song?

  • @snortfork i always send this song to people, but most think it's cheesy...or they just don't like it..... oh well, think this song is cool.

  • if you ever had any doubt late 1970s cloths and hairstyles for men were hideous here is the unequivocal proof they were. as a matter of fact, anytime men wore their hair long was hideous. at least the cloths and hairstyles of the last 15 years were good even though the music has sucked for over 15 years.

  • Wow this songs brings back memories, hearing this at 11 yrs old was pretty cool.

  • greatest song ever

  • What the hell is wrong with the volume control?? Won't go past 10! Need to wake up the neighbours.

  • @bunsomatic NO DOUBT LOL

  • @bunsomatic Mine goes to 11.

  • Not long enough..leaves you wanting more

  • This song always sounds better in the passenger seat.

  • There was a video to this????? Long live 1979!!

  • wow an dam ! where has all the time gone ? seems like i recall having auto reverse on my cassette plater ! and that was the shit plus what i was smokin ! hah , great tune thx for the upload

  • If you're a cover band trying to make money playing corporate gigs or private parties.......learn this song. I love this song. It hooks you every time you listen. You could fire it up at any party and your guests would approve.

  • IS THAT DAVID ROBINSON FROM DA CARZ {DRUMMER DUDE THE CARS YA KNOW?

  • holy crap... i forgot this song.... nice...not enough Heineken involved though...how tragic...the should ask the homies...

  • The only problem with this video is, not enough volume....otherwise.......

  • Awesome! Used to play this one on the ol' headphones.

  • OMG!! Lead guitar player looks like Ian "Mac" McLagan of the Faces/Small Faces!! 'Check out totally stripped down drum kit. This is just before the dreaded drum machine years of the 1980's!!!

  • The lead singer looks like my science teacher from school

  • Amazing how these legs 1:24 were considered hot in 1979, and today they are fucking ugly.

  • My girlfriend and I burning up the roads in Southeastern Kentucky in our hotrod (custom 650hp) '78 Rally Sport Camaro, listening to songs like this.

She's now my wife of 30 years and she's just a hot now as she was then.

No idea where that car is nowadays, but it's helluva lot of fun to zip down these winding country roads in her SLK though. Sometimes I dust off the "87 MR2 (92k original miles) and we take it for a fun spin. These songs are always on no matter which vehicle we're in.

  • One of the coolest tunes of all time. Guaranteed to make you 7% cooler just for listening to it!

  • @WatchVenusSpa make that 8%..

  • @WatchVenusSpa you are soooooo right!! stezyrezy

  • dddddriverssssseattttyeahhh!!1
