  • no 6 is a hard one. i was able to get my 1st overblow on a higher note (7 hole) using my special 20. it bends nicely when drawing. i am a long way from perfecting the technique but you helped to give me a place to start.

  • HEY!! The QUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEN technique got me overblowing fairly easy after months trying! many thanks!

  • Great find ur tutorial really usefully and easy to use for me nice thing saying queen

  • Your tip of saying quee almost made me bending the second draw a whole note! Thanks!

  • Great stuff man! I'm playing a set of those fucking 'BluesBand' harps! They're god-awful, but i'm hoping that my playing will be all the better for it once I graduate to Marine Bands!

  • I haven't tried Blues Band or other cheap harps, but I find Marine Bands not the easiest to play in their price class. I think harps with plastic body sound worse, but are way softer to play and bend. And naked wood in MB expands when you play because of humid air you blow and scratches your mouth. Marine Bands are not as good as they are said to be. They still have the best sound though.

  • Lol, the overblows I'm getting sound like this...

    Draw

    Draw Bend

    Blow Que-SREEEEEECH

Some of my harps they sound more like notes, other harps there's no response so I'm thinking it's a mixture of gapping & practice.

But yeah, this QUE thing seems to have got me the closest!

  • Hey, after watching a ton of other videos, this

is the one that got me my first Overblows.

Thanks a bunch, i'll tell others to come watch.

The "Que" helps and i found it's almost a Chu, like your hocking a lougie in the back off your throat.

    peace,

    -rich

  • It seems you helped more than one guy, add me to the list! with the "quee" tip, I got the OB like I been doing them all me life.

  • That's awesome. Congratulations!

  • Thanks, that was very helpful.

  • Thank you, Preston--this was helpful to me--I still need to gap some harps, but I did manage a little bit of an OB on the 6 after seeing your post--someday I'll get it!

  • Yeah, I was thinking maybe I should've gone into the importance of gapping a little bit more. I'm glad it was helpful to you. Keep a it and you'll get it.

  • Wow! A lot of pitch/tone problems with the bent overblows. This was the third take though, and I didn't feel like doing it again.

  • Nice instruction vid Preston, watch out adam! My dog went crazy listeneing to your backup singer vid! Mine only howls when I play above 7 blow.
