Wow...that's fabulous as long as you don't knock yourself in the head with it! We made ours out of tiny evaporated milk cans & rice since we have no woodworking skills.Hat's off to you! Happy early Purim!
Good job steve, I can see it now,,, some little kid says, "hey, I want to try it" and proceeds to slap himself in the face with the hardwood piece. Oh well,, I guess that is how we learn.
I was thinking about Purim too! We read Esther in church for Purim every year. Boy, do we make ton of racket w/ these things everytime M@%$&*@#'s name is read.
I might have to make this so that I can wake the kids up Christmas morning!!!! Thanks for keeping this stuff simple and so well thought out. Merry Christmas! RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT!!!!!
You are obviously an intelligent person......but sometimes I think that you are a little 'off'. How in the h&#$ does your mind come up with these projects? I love your work and ability to communicate.
@ScrollsawVideo - I think it's all those industrial solvents and lacquers in the air in his shop... XD
@stevemarin - How's your health these days? I saw someone mention skin cancer, so I had to go digging back through your older posts to see what was up. At least in this video, you seem to be in good health and good spirits; are you back to (I hesitate to say "normal" considering the videos I've seen, but...) your old self? Loving the videos! Thanks.
@xaboo Strangely, I post everything I shoot and I shoot most of the stuff I make. I just don't shoot stuff I've already done before. (I've made lots of bandsaw boxes since my bandsaw box video.) What I don't post are the many little tests I run before cutting my work pieces.
@RockinGuy1994 HA! When I was editing this together, I had to laugh at that. My brain often gets ahead of my mouth. It's a real trick to get a bit inside a bit!
where do you get your inspiration for your projects...I mean who else would say to themselves "I am going to make a noise maker?" You have the most unique mind and I mean that in a good way
@Buzzsawman Thanks. Mainly, I just see things I like and try to figure out how to make them myself. I've been on kind of a musical instrument kick lately and have been browsing through books of folk instruments. Plus I am a huge Lewis Carroll fan and remembered the rattle in his novel. Most of the one's I've seen are made out of two pieces with a separate strip sandwiched between them. I wanted to simplify that with a one-piece design.
@stevinmarin Yes we made one of these at school woodwork class circa 1960....something? We used two square blocks instead of the "Cog" and two "Clackers" as you say sandwiched between the frame. These "Rattles were used in the Trenches in the First World War to make noise to scare the enemy and save precious ammunition.
your funny.............
