Saw if fly as a kid in Barry Wales (I guess as it was tested in Bristol) I'll never forget I looked up and saw it and though I want to be in that one day (looking back I suppose it was my first bucket list entry) but I was lucky enough to fly her twice 2nd time I was invited up for landing BA002 into Heathrow behind Captain. Happy memories sad day when cancelled. Never forget 1st flight left work at 5pm for 7pm dept. and drinking beer in New York at 6pm local time.

Taking out of service the greatest invention ever? Makes no sense. Had to be a way to keep this amazing bird operational and profitable, had to be. Aviation went in the wrong direction by retiring this plane! It's like the bulls getting rid of Jordan because he costs too much money...never happen! No. It remained in operation for years following the accident, which as you say was caused by foreign object damage anyway. Rising fuel costs killed concorde.

Concorde was withdrawn from service because Bae and Airbus, the two companies whom serviced the aircaft both decided to withdraw flight airworthiness certfifcates.

It was also a mutual decision by both Air France and British Airways due to a perceived down turn in revenue.

If only there hadn't been so many factors against the aircraft, however it does all come down to money when all the arguments are taken into account.

Shame really, what a fantastic and indeed unique aircraft.

The concorde was taken out of service because airbus is cheaper and more easier to manage for the airline industry. the crash of the concorde was not even a problem of the aircraft's own! a united airlines took off leaving debris on the runway and it got stuck in the concorde's landing gear, and punctured part of the fusalage. up to now, the concorde still boasts the only record of a 100% accident/crash free life for any airline. it was without a doubt a world wonder!!

I saw concorde taking off in Brazil when I was kid. I went to the airport around 7am with my father for see it taking off around 5pm, the airport was full of people wating to see concorde.

This is such a unique airplane, I love It !!!!
