  • If the truth be known, this song was based on Lee's sister Tracey, who at the time was publicly disgraced for having a mixed race baby.

  • Once read that this song is about a mixed race relationship.... listen carefully & you'll know why

  • @madforthis14 this song is about teenage pregnancy you nut

  • @madforthis14 this song is about teenage pregnancy

  • Whoever said Madness were shite is a complete prick and probably likes Take That.

  • @Shouldersization You're shite.

  • to late for all that sentimental crap. uk women are total slappers. thats why it,s always windy over here to many women with there legs open.

  • @daddylister yeh i know.....! i see a girl from school the other day with 3 half cast kids....thats unlucky getting raped 3 times!

  • @TopCatsBack ROFL

  • @TopCatsBack saying stuff like that is quite sick. you should be ashamed.

  • @daddylister Oh dear Lord. Please don't cast stereotypes just like that.

And if you do feel it really necessary, please learn correct grammar first.

  • Good old Londoners! For better or worse. The ultimate disgrace would be fathering a half-black Somali child, these days.

  • madness the first the best

  • One of my favorite songs by one of the best bands ever, MADNESS! Legend!!!

  • this song was written for my brother

  • four people have music problems

  • My favorite Madness song.

  • This song is simply beautiful; period: No arguments. Madness are and will always remain one of the best acts who ever graced this planet. About their videos; no one today gets even close to what they've done in terms of ideas, originality, genius and good taste. Whoever thinks of them as comical (yes, they know how to do that as well) should simply SHUT UP, listen, watch and learn.

  • This is like...the most honest and pure example of artistic expression I've seen lately. Obviously the song actually means something to the guy singing it, and what amazing musical talent from the entire band. It's spot fucking on.

  • hello rosie ;) xx

  • EMBARRASSMENT!!!! not embaressment, lol

  • the word is spelt wrong at 0.08, still great song!!

  • @0586730O2 maybe its meant as a joke. Since he's nearly bare. Just a thought

  • @markfoot mmm possibly

  • @0586730O2 Don't you think that might have been intentional ? 'bare' geddit ?

  • top banana

  • I agree with M80sgirl

  • fantastic Song

  • Mint.

  • Fan blooming Tastic!!

  • HOW COOL IS SUGGS LIKE EH!!!

  • check "sunny weather" on my page for the 2011 version of madness!!

  • WOW

  • This song and vid send shivers up and down my spine. Best song/vid ever

  • What I like about Madness is that they had a mixture of pop, rock, jazz, blues. The horn section was brilliant. They have their followers....One Step Beyond was a great video...as well the entire album. You're right he does remind me of Biff...lol

  • i bash the guitar a bit and i can say their music is well put together and takes some playing on any instrument,no 3 chord trick with these boys

  • Madness were always very popular but they were quite underappreciated as musicians in an era of 'serious' bands like The Clash, The Jam and The Smiths - but it takes a hellavalot lot of talent to make a song this good.

  • Suggs reminds me a little of Biff, from Back to the future lol

  • One of my favorites! Love this song!

  • all this new crap cant come close to stuff like this.Screw everyone that dosnt like this band

  • good old fashion point ( i agree with ) - traditional - take you back when wrong was WRONGE not pansie-pansie

  • @deccaaaaa so thats how they spelt back then is it?

  • @thrillhouse92701 YOUR AN EMBARRASSMENT..

  • after all these years i finally got to see them after York races

what a fantastic gig ,,,it wont be the last time as they are touring late 2010

  • The first single I ever bought.

  • madness got the best videos - low budget but great ideas and humor -

    LOVE IT!

  • Good song for England Football squad 2010.

  • i wich i could go back 20 years and start all over again

  • @lesamingtonlad so do i

  • you guys are amazing

  • madness are so cool

  • one of the best songs of madness

  • I just lovd the whole ska revival, Black orientated music with White/Black guys playing it together. Was the first kind of musical unity that reflected the school life that I knew

  • As a black youth known as 2tonetrev at the time, I loved this group of guys. A lot of my black mates told me that Madness were a racist skinhead group. What they did not understand was that it was the skinheads of the 60's that promoted ska music, hence, Bring Back the Prince (Buster) who had most of his records recorded at Orange Street in Jamaica..

  • The greatest song from the greatest band ever . Long live suggs the king .

  • every madness song ever sung pure brilliance

  • well mixed well produced well written as usual

    madness to the universe

    i think i'm in love

    with suggs!

    oh no...

    r...

  • Someone seriously needs to mix this song.

  • @ImpliedBodyMan if it ain't broke !

  • bloody fantastic !

  • what would be great is if no doubt and madness would tour together in the states .

  • @le1142

    i don`t think so..

  • class

  • true

  • So many people laugh at my love of madness, percepting them as a comical, not to be taken seriously joke. Fuck them.

  • This entire album was just brilliant. No shame in loving Madness.

  • @masterofscotland I don't take em seriously, they're a great laugh and cheer me up all the time. I'm sorry that I don't put on a sombre up like at a rememberance parade and act like I'm at a Beethoven recital. Mate, fuck you instead.

  • @masterofscotland madness are here to stay its 2010 and they are still flat out giging fiar fucks to them

  • @masterofscotland yep fuck em if i had a time machine i couldent get more real than what this tune brings to mind me best years and a soulfull tune to :)

  • @masterofscotland I think that Madness is a fucking great comical band and a joke to be taken seriously.

  • A classic song with brilliant saxophone pyrotechnics !

  • Spot on Merlin , as good now as they were 30 years ago !!!!

  • Real Music...Not Simon Cowells Manufactured Rectal Turd Splatter...

  • This song is different to the version on 'Total Madness' - on this version, the organ starts straight away from the beginning of the sax solos, but on the CD version it starts later.

  • 2 negative marks for saying something that is true,,one of the band had a sister who had a child with a coloured gent and as a result she was disowned for a while

  • i think it was the sax player's teenaged sister.

  • Yeah Your right

  • Censorship - Hitler loved it.

  • Indeed the song is about that! It was the early 80s and thats what some people were like then!

  • lol people are soo negative all the time. That is what this video is about as well. Hahaha not only are they negative but blindly ignorant

  • good.

  • so ya point is???? does it really matter.

  • Interesting.

  • awesome tune rocking !!!!

  • This song is about one of the band members' (he wrote the song obviously) teen sisters getting pregnant with a black man's kid. The whole family shunned her, but when little Hayley was born the family reconciled.

  • @M80sgirl every song had a reason not just the poor black man its about life

  • @M80sgirl is mike barson blacking up at 2.51 to 2.57 a nod to this

  • yea thats y mike is 'blacked up' on the piano

  • this song is ment to sing about a white girl having a black skinned baby, (it's true)

  • i was always led to believe it was about glue sniffing,a fad thar swept the youth in the 80s

  • awesome!!! all these songs from them, loooong time ago and still great =)!!!

  • great!

  • This is my favorite song from Madness

  • what can i say its madness.there'll never any1 to touch em thats for sure

  • Brilliant and one of their best.!!!

  • Great song great era.

  • oh wait someone told me 10 seconds ago it does make sents

  • it doesen't make sents

  • Why "embarresment"??

  • It's based on one of the members of Madness' sister getting pregnant by a black man - back then it was disgraceful, due to the attitudes of the time. However, the story has a happy ending :) the family accepted it and welcomed in the new child (called Hayley) with open arms :D

  • Damn you know your stuff! ;P

  • 'Course I do Cuffula

  • i coulda told you that. any madness fan knows :D

  • you mean Tracey...Lees sister and it is pretty fictional bearing in ind he was on tour at the time and got only snippets and mike put it together

  • I just reiterated what I read off Wikipedia some time ago :P

Sorry if I got it a bit wrong ^^

  • lol, You know to much lol, but i accept the fact you wish to learn. thanks for fun facts

  • haha :P

  • Jesus, i didnt know that, you cna tell its more serious though, just by listening to it

  • oh yeah!!!! Reminds me of school!!!!

  • pure class is there another band that gives as much pleasure to listen to any of there tracks as much as madness? .......i think not, long may they keep touring,if you have never seen them make the effort you wont be sorry that you went....fantastic

  • Their music should always be played loudly!

  • what cant hear ya

  • Reminds me of school. Leggatts rules!

  • This song sorta reminds me off my depressing teenage days when i was 15/16. Thank fuck im out of that time!

  • like the way camden town dont look like that anymore

  • FUCKIN LEDGENDSSSSSSSSS

  • Couldent agrea more mate

  • Great song. Music video is a little dull though. Not enough insanity like their other videos haha

  • haha when i read this and looked up he was comin down the stairs on a smoke filled sax solo

  • Isn't that because this is meant to be a more serious Madness song? About Lee Thompson's sister becoming pregnant?

  • I think it was more to do with the fact that the father of the baby was black and he family were racist. They rejected her for having a black man's baby.

  • It was Big Lee's sister got pregnant to a black man, song was written about the reaction....musicians are blessed people .

  • Always enjoying of their songs and especially those sax solos!

  • i wish i was around in these days... music was so much better back then xx

  • most modern musics complete crap some songs are good but nothing compared to these guys

  • how very true

  • There was still a lot of rubbish.. Madness 's era was quite short but the whole two tone thing was great... You can't keep looking back, I always wanted to be a child of the late fifties so I could be into the rising blues scene of the mid sixties!!

  • chido y arriba madness

    :) y saludos pa todos

  • Suggs is so cute!

  • madness forever

  • One step beyond.

  • cool video!

shame about Suggs spilling his drink on Chris' nice, clean bar.... lol
