  • I read through the comments and saw Yokaz asked about the solder beading up and not sticking, but I did not see a response with the solution. I am having the same issue, what is the fix or solution?

  • @WickyScratch07 1. gotta keep your soldering tip clean. It should be shiney like a brand new nickel. If it's not, you gotta de-oxidize and clean that thing. If it gets bad enough then you need to replace the whole soldering tip. 2. flux. It's mentioned in the very first part of the first video in this series :-). Flux makes solder "wetter"

  • You saved me $50 now I don't have to worry about anything. Great video, fully explained, clear, and easy to follow. Thanks!

  • That tutorial was excellent. Clear video and verbal direction. Perfect. Thanks man!

  • how do i stop them squeaking? :(

What kind of solder did you use to re-attach the analog back onto the board? It looks a lot thinner than the ones I've been using, or is it just the camera making it appear smaller? :-S

  • @YocasFilmz The crap from Radio Shack is too thick, I buy from places like all spec electronics on the web. Or kiesub electronics. There are a bunch of vendors on the web that sell solder with a very small diameter (I can't remember what I am using lately) but it's definitely smaller than the stuff at radio shack and very useful when dealing with the ever-shrinking electronics out there.

  • @dakotakid12345 Thanks for the heads up!

  • @dakotakid12345 One more thing! Actually 2. Exactly what type of flux did you use in your tutorial? If possible could you hook me up with a link from where you bought it too? Also, how did you get your solder to stick on to the board so easily? My solder keeps migrating back to the soldering iron even when I'm not directly applying the solder to the iron. :(

  • Thanx man any other video I watched just replaced the rubber parts on the aolog lol.

  • I have a problem with one of my controllers, Up down, left and right movements work fine, but there is a point where if the thumbstick is held at an exact angle, it cuts out, not noticeable, until you start playing the games, then it gets irritating and just about unplayable. I will dismantle it and see if there is a loose connection, but somehow I doubt it.

  • this video is for real, i followed all his steps, could not find the electric soldering sucker i just got a regular sucker its kind of a pain but it still does the job with some extra work, with all the tools i bought could have bought a new controller but like he says after you buy the tools, repairs will be cheap and easy, props for the video and thank you saving us all from Microsofts shady business by making controllers that only last a year.

  • you make it look so easy i can do it but it takes time

  • @oljukihybgtvfrdce can i ask ya a question about the repair i did it too, but now im noticing that their is a gap in the sensitivity in the joysticks, i have to move my joystick almost 1/2 the way in ether direction before the signal is sent to the xbox, is this normal in 360 controllers i have not had a new one in a long time, maybe the replacements that i got are defective? how does your new thumbsticks work.

  • @Baseshocks mine are fine i just got some cheap ones off ebay but it maybe a poor connection or yeah, you may need to buy a new one.

  • @oljukihybgtvfrdce dang ill prob have to do that, i bought mine from ebay too, but got the short end of the stick with the seller, by any chance if you have time can you send email me the link of the seller you bought it from.

  • After I installed the new joystick it did the same problem as before. The right joystick only goes right and left but not up and down.

  • @DeliriousTactics Time to look for short circuit somewhere else on the board. Or maybe the processor burned out. Up/down are on the same "channel", left/right are on a different "channel". So could be something shorting out the up/down channel or that channel burned up :-(.

  • I replaced my joystick but the pad on one of the four anchor tabs came off. does the anchor tab even connect to the other components?

  • @DeliriousTactics Nope, the four anchor tabs go to the "Ground plane". They basically just help secure the stick in place. You should be fine with one of the four anchor tabs/pads missing.

  • I replaced my joystick but the pads on one of the four anchor tabs came off. does the anchor tab even connect to the other components?

  • Best thumbstick replacement video on YouTube hands down!

Man I would need to buy so much equipment: soldering iron, solder sucker, flux, solder, 3rd hand, isopropyl alcohol. I think that should cover it.

  • I had a broken joystick but I replaced it but now it keeps going to the right

  • @mandog916 yeah ive literally just fixed mine and its doing the exactly the same thing :S

i used a thumb stick mechanism from the old xbox pads so i wasn't sure if that was the problem...

    Have you fixed it yet?

  • Thanks man, this was a great help.

  • can you still order odins raven, what is this new acro thing, it looks awesome!!!!

  • Do you touch the solder iron tip to the solder pad and the pin, or just the pin?

  • hey viking can you guys try makeing a tutorial on how to install a viking mod chip into you 360 contoller

  • hey if i sent u my raven se can u put ps3 thumstiks for me and if yes how nuch

  • if i just wannted to put a ps3 thumstik in for my controller (raven spicial adition) do i have to remove the hole mecanizim or can i just pull off the thumstik cliker? MESAGE BACK

  • Does it matter if you put a thumbstick from a new controller CG and put it in an old controller Martix. Really need to know thanks.

  • @prettyboi194 I think they are compatible.

  • do u know when u will get biohazard controler camo or can u make the odions raven special witout jack and blue leds

  • How do u make/get a tamper proof screwdriver?

  • @icouldntmakeupaname Less than $5 on E-Bay, or if you buy the replacement thumbstick part from a mod shop they probably sell cheap screwdrivers. Torx 8 "tamper resistant" or "security" screwdriver, it's a star type pattern on the end but the most important thing is the head of the screwdriver also has to have a hole in the middle of it.

  • @dakotakid12345 thanks

  • Can you Do A Right Bumber Replace Ment
