I would compare this level to level 6-2 of Ninja Gaiden as the two most frustrating levels of gaming in Nintendo history. I've broken a few controllers behind this one.

The true challenge of this level was getting to the boss without dying once so you don't lose the holy water. otherwise, fleaman and the controls will just fuck you over.

I love the music in this level it's so badass! I would say it's lot darker and more adventurous then the music in the rest of the game. I hope there are other versions of this song out there, truly nightmarish awesome music!

I hated this stage. Dying in an old game is easy, dying because of unfairness or just stiff controls is even more easy. Whenever I hear the first few seconds I start to rage so hard, because I always heard it when something knocked me into the water, or I managed to get to Frankensteins monster but still died.

At least it starts to get really awesome at about 0:29

It blows my mind that I finally beat the Frankenstein monster. When I finally got it, I had only one energy left, and I kept shouting "FUCK YEAH!" after the battle. Ironically the next stage blew my mind, and the reaper beat the shit out of me, too...

@MoonyMuffin yeah but isn't kind of disappointing that when you beat the reaper when all of a sudden a scythe show up and kills you and the worst part only one LAST life back to the beginning of the stage all over again

i just rescued my old msx2 from my mum's lodge. After 20 years there...it still works!. Unfortunately my copy of castlevania is not working. Very likely i am oging into retrogaming and try to get my hands on one copy. Classic game, unforgettable uncountable afternoons playing this.

the sound effect were really cool. it set the chaotic mood and they were placed nicely. they were part of the track. you played the game and those noises come in as the music.
