Theres a 625 HP (6k) SC kit for the GT (29k) which makes it 'better' than the CTS-V (63k).

my 04 5.7 hemi durango beat a 6.2 2009 f150 but we out out about 425 HP with all the mods that we have done cat-back exhaust cold air intake smaller wheels wider tires tunesand were getting ready to order our supercharger!!!:)
@Bladesting obviously never rode in a jeep before. ive got an '08 srt and handles second to none, not for an SUV but for any 5000 pound car. they handle quite well in corners, especially against a mustang like that.

Actually, the Jeep SRT8 will be an 03-04 Cobra if it's stock. The lower-front end of the Cobra was flawed and caused the car to shake when breaking 100MPH and with fast acceleration. If you changed that part, then yes, the Cobra would win. But stock, no.

My father in law had an 07' mustang gt and now has a jeep srt8, in no way could that mustang ever come close to the jeep. You can barely lean forward when you press the gas to the ground on the jeep. It's just amazing how fast they are..... stock!!!
@DavitzHelsing I just jacked up a Jeep SRT8 at the dragstrip with a 2010 Mustang GT. My car is stock including tires and air filter and I run 13.5s. He was running 13.7s. The 2010 Stangs are a bit quicker than the older ones and forget the 2011s as they pretty much own everything other than Vettes and exotics. It also helps having factory 3.73 gears.

My point is you think the SUV wasn't trying and my point is that a well driven Mustang can take these Jeeps when both are stock. The same can be said about a poorly driven Jeep SRT8 . A poorly driven SRT8 will lose to a GT. TC on the SRT will kill your TQ if you don't disable it.
But as I stated a stock SRT8 does 0-60 in 4.5, when driven by people who test vehicles for a living a 05 GT does it in 5.2 under the same conditions. The Jeep SRT 8 has 425 HP 420 TQ, the Stang has 315HP, 325TQ. If the SRT takes it off the line, it should if properly driven, will walk away from the stang.

@aztskar First of all since 2005 the Mustang GTs with a stick have been running 5 second flat 0-60 times. Certainly not as neck wrenching as a SRT8, but quick enough to hang on to his bumper and pass him just after the 1/8 mile. I'm a fairly good drag racer and though I haven't timed it I am likely running 4.8-4.9 seconds 0-60. The car has no mods and the original tires. I am trying to get the best possible baseline before doing mods.
@vxer1000 In that case, let me tell congratulate you, ill say that the SRT beats almost anything off the line but you can still catch it up, and i guess thats what you did, and you did that quite well. nice driving.

It is quicker than what I thought it would be. I was hoping for 13.5s in the 1/4 mile when I started testing and my best to date is 13.397@104.52. Still have to work on my 60ft. times. I recently discovered it is better to just drive around the water box and just launch with no burnout.

And of course, burnouts its a nice showoff but not nice when dragging, that means your wheels are spinning and you're not moving, not good. try a burnout before dragging, to heat tires.

Each generation has paled in comparison to its respective counterpart from GM and even Mopar. Look at the LT1 Vette/F-body, and hell the LSx. Mopar finally came out with the LX Platform (300, Charger, Magnum, Challenger, etc.) which also embarrasses the Mustang.

I am not comparing modified cars. I'm comparing stock for stock. There is no longer any legitimate comparison when comparing modified cars; at that point, the only comparison is between wallet size.
A stock C5Z is faster and quicker than a Terminator Cobra.

Actually, the Jeep SRT8 will be an 03-04 Cobra if it's stock. The lower-front end of the Cobra was flawed and caused the car to shake when breaking 100MPH and with fast acceleration. If you changed that part, then yes, the Cobra would win. But stock, no.

Jeep's have more flex and versatility then any other damn vehicle out there. Go check Long arm suspension with coil overs.. can you put your axle vertical without rolling? don't think so. :)

@ronaldo7madrid7 lifting a jeep is not like lifting any other vehicle. :) But i can agree with basic mods won't affect a jeeps performance like it will to other cars. i'm a jeep person. like cold air intakes, cat-back exhausts, performance chips all the small crap don't make a difference. take the 6 inline motors from the cherokees. stroke them to 4.7 throw 4.10 gears in to it, and you have a car that will beat trans am, some corvettes, camaros, mustangs. etc. :)

@DavitzHelsing I just jacked up a Jeep SRT8 at the dragstrip with a 2010 Mustang GT. My car is stock including tires and air filter and I run 13.5s. He was running 13.7s. The 2010 Stangs are a bit quicker than the older ones and forget the 2011s as they pretty much own everything other than Vettes and exotics. It also helps having factory 3.73 gears.

The same can be said about a poorly driven Jeep SRT8 . A poorly driven SRT8 will lose to a GT. TC on the SRT will kill your TQ if you don't disable it.
But as I stated a stock SRT8 does 0-60 in 4.5, when driven by people who test vehicles for a living a 05 GT does it in 5.2 under the same conditions. The Jeep SRT 8 has 425 HP 420 TQ, the Stang has 315HP, 325TQ. If the SRT takes it off the line, it should if properly driven, will walk away from the stang.

It's a 2010 with the factory 3.73 gears and I pulled that Jeep all the way down the track. The time and MPH are on the big sign at the end of the track. I've got the timeslip as well.

@aztskar First of all since 2005 the Mustang GTs with a stick have been running 5 second flat 0-60 times. Certainly not as neck wrenching as a SRT8, but quick enough to hang on to his bumper and pass him just after the 1/8 mile. I'm a fairly good drag racer and though I haven't timed it I am likely running 4.8-4.9 seconds 0-60. The car has no mods and the original tires. I am trying to get the best possible baseline before doing mods.

@aztskar Thanks. BTW I think these Jeeps are awesome. Who wouldn't be impressed by a 13 second stock SUV? I like my Stang as it is what I prefer. It's a fun car to drive and my kids like it. It is quicker than what I thought it would be. I was hoping for 13.5s in the 1/4 mile when I started testing and my best to date is 13.397@104.52. Still have to work on my 60ft. times. I recently discovered it is better to just drive around the water box and just launch with no burnout.

And of course, burnouts its a nice showoff but not nice when dragging, that means your wheels are spinning and you're not moving, not good. try a burnout before dragging, to heat tires.

i have a mustang gt, and i know for a fact that the jeep srt 8 would kick my ass off the line. mustang gt sounds automatic too.......only way a mustang can take a stock srt 8 is from a roll of around 40-50
