  • FYI...that is the KA-BAR Machete.

  • I have the same gloves

  • Woah! You didn't tell me your wife was a robot! I heard that zoom on the camera and I jumped! lol

  • what did that tree ever do to you you cunt.

  • Pshhht Lynn Thompson could slice that into perfect thirds with his teeth.

  • If you got lost in the wild with that knife theirs no way you wouldn't survive!

  • nossa que anta kkkk

  • I really like this Ka Bar. I can't find it anywhere. I like this size 8" blade. Places I looked they had 12" blade. Can anyone tell me where to look. Thanks

  • does this have the same tang more or less than the usmc knives?

  • Could have saved a LOT of effort with that tree if you used the correct part of the blade for chopping. You were striking to far up toward the handle. That is a great looking and performing knife though. Looking on line for one right now because here in germany they are scarce and expensive.

  • @1969jmac Not exactly, he used the correct technique for chopping down a tree like this. Go on my channel and look for my video with me chopping down a tree with my ka-bar

  • nice video, where are you camping? because we camp up in Michigan's upper peninsula,

  • be careful camera man!

  • do you prefere the leather sheath to the tactical plastic sheath for these types of situations?

  • nice video.

  • What model of ka-bar knife is this?

  • did your hand hurt at all?

  • @GoldsCovers full tang? these look awesome

  • in germany this knife cost 99.99 euro that means 144,48 dollars

  • If it is a dead tree I'm superman!!

  • Try that big tree behind it.

  • Can you aim with that knife or are you making the knotch bigger

  • Do they stay sharp or do you have to sharpen then often?

  • Dont hit it like a girl

  • The job of that knife is not to be beat to hell with a log it was made to kill

  • @GeneralFryeman Yes but unless you want to go to jail for murder I'd try to use it for camping usage or just put it on top of the fire place as an antique. Have a nice day.

  • R.i.p tree

  • man those are clean cuts for a knife

  • what do you use to sharpen?

  • why hit it so weak?

  • awesome knife ... did you have to sharpen it when you got it??

  • hows the edge on it after all this abuse? still sharp?

  • i just ordered the full sized serrated black ka bar knife with the leather sheath, already have a ka bar cutlass machete which i love, punches way above its weight, holds its edge for ages, comfy grip and good balance, from what i've seen of the ka bar brand so far they are an excellent choice

  • The cutco company in Olean, New York makes the Ka Bar. An outstanding valued knife. They are one of the few who cryogenicly freeze the steel to make the atomical structure of the steel harder. They were recently seen on the History Channel.

  • once upon a time, i sharpened my kabar to where it would shave hair off ur arm, just to test how sharp it could get. Then i wanted to see its edge retention. I ended up batoning 3 or 4 good size logs into kinneling size peices. at the end of the day, it still knocked hair off my arm

  • I do all of this with my regular kbar fighting knife.

  • idk if you know this but what is the difference between the kydex sheath and the nylon sheath. they both look very similar...

  • @Zaharkl their is actually a huge difference. nylon is like a woven threaded sheath, while kydex is more of a hard plastic. kydex is always better since its safer. you want a sheath that wont rip if you fall and the knife goes into it. it could cause serious harm

  • @kman20022 This is not a fighting knife just cause ka-bar is a company who makes fighting knives dosent mean that all knives they make are for that purpose. And for your information ka-bar also makes kitchen knives are you going to go to war with a kitchen knife and say that it is a fighting knife? I don't think you will!

  • Shouldnt your wife be cutting you a sammich? haha Nice video

  • the first day i got my ka-bar i cut down a thorn tree about that size

  • is there anything u can replace the black coating with when it comes off to prevent rust and just for the knife to look cool?

  • damn ur not even using much force so that rly shows the blade is good!!!!

  • I gotta a K-bar Kukri machete and liked it so much I threw it behind the back seat of my Toyota Pickup in case I gotta survive a while. That thing gave me the confidence i could fell a younger tree with it. Chopaholic. I thought it a great buy for the money.

  • sharpening lots makes the knife look thinner or is that just me

  • i personally think the kabar is the most known and most used knife i love it one my buddys gave me one for my birth day at first i didnt pay attention to it but as soon as i tested it in the woods its a 10/10

  • WTF is with all these people that demo a fighting knife for chopping wood?

Jim Bowie was a duelist, indian fighter and freedom fighter. His knife was a killing tool.

  • @kman20022 Volunteer to be the test dummy then :)

  • what's the name of the song in the intro?

  • I love all your videos. I love all your selection and items you have. Its been very helpful. But I do not know why you need a knife to chop down the tree when you have a saw ? (Gerber saw)

  • Could someone please tell me what the song at the begining of the video is? Thanx

  • Four rotating chops around the circumference of the trunk with a hatchet would have allowed you to push that tree over with much less energy expended. Splitting wood with a hatchet is also more efficient than batoning.

  • @pkdiddy Cool it's way easier and safer to carry a knife IMHO.

  • @pkdiddy if you only got a knife this is the way idiot

  • @pkdiddy thats great, but this isn't a hatchet video. its a ka-bar video.

  • @pkdiddy as you can see, this is a ka-bar demonstration..not a hatchet demonstration. so gtfo.....hatchets are made for more ballistic use. ka-bars are combative knives, which also have a good edge for things like batoning

  • what do you use to sharpen your knives?

  • I just looked this knife up on Ka-bar's website and they actually consider it a machete. That is if what you're using in this video is what the Ka-bar website calls the cutlass machete

  • Man i really enjoy your videos they are some of the best of their types!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • why dont you just cut a little then kick the tree down

  • he is demostrating blade, not he's power.

  • I want to hear it direct from one of these jungle knives enthusiasts: What exactly is the supposed advantage of a knife like the one in this video over a similarly sized hatchet? You could not comfortably dress game or do detailed whittling with a knife like this, so it basically fills the same niche as a hatchet, except that a hatchet of the same weight would be a far more efficient chopper, inherently sturdier, better balanced for belt carry, and more ergonomic for hewing type jobs.

  • 5/5 :)

  • Holy shit. Nice knife. Would get it, but firewood is very easy to find where i live :)

  • is good

  • From WWII to 2010 you can't better a Ka-Bar!

  • about how many dry logs can you split before you have to resharpen your blade?

  • How much does one of these cost?

  • Depending where you shop, between $40 and $50. I got it on sale for $39.99!

  • @PackRat556 Where did you get it from?

  • What gloves are you wearing in this video?

  • Wells Lamont - very comfortable and durable - $12 bucks at Lowes. Thanks for watching!

  • I would love to see an update to this video. What have you done with the kabar camp knife so far. Is it still a good knife in your opinion?

  • It is still going strong! I can recommend it now more than ever because it has continued to perform with no problem. The only wear is the black epoxy coating has worn off much of the bade. That is to be expected from a work blade though. Thanks for your interest.

  • its good because its a ka-bar

    semper fi

  • Amen! I have had good luck with my Ka-Bar Knives!

  • I haveth same knife and it batons wood great, it retains the sharpness well and sharpens nice and easy too, the only thing I have a problem with is the crappy sheath they supply with it, do they make a better sheath? if so where do I find it.

Also as a back up knife I use the SOG seal pup elite with kydex sheath. great vid

    later.

  • buy a kydex sheath on amazon, you can usually find a compatible sheath on the page of your knife.

  • I agree, I would like a kydex sheath better. The leather is holding up for me for now. Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • wow :p where can i but that one :p

  • How many inches the Blade???? please reply

  • Has an 8 inch blade. 12 and 3/4 inches long.

  • hey good knife but man thats alot of work. I reccomend getting a folding saw and you will burn less calories

  • A folding saws more weight, and only serves that purpos. he could of just knocked that tree over along time ago..

  • are you kidding me? a folding saw weighs almost nothing compared to that big heavy knife. My choice tools would be a Froat Mora, a Gerber (or better brand) folding saw, and my Leatherman Wave multi-tool. The smaller knife would be better suited for more meticulous tasks than a larger knife. I mean I aint Rambo for crying out loud.LOL But hey its just all in personal preferance right?

  • He brings a folding saw, and a leatherman multi-tool in his BOB.

  • 5 stars*****

  • were can i get a cheap and great k-bar knife i really need one :(

  • lol the cheapest i could find was at the pawn shop new for 97 dollars check your local pawn shops for alot of itemss

  • cheaper than dirt has some good deals on their blades and gear.

  • Yes, that is where I purchased this knife also. Thanks for sharing!

  • Once again great vid. I was looking at them today. Most machetes are too heavy and if you look at them the handles are just cheap rivets...DANGEROUS! I wanted something to cut brush and firewood. You made my mind up! Who usually films for you? The wife? Does she have to put up with that vaccum packer too? LOL

  • LOL, actually this Ka Bar video is the only video on my channel that I didn't make alone! I usually vacuum while she is away too lol. If you go with the Ka Bar, you won't regret it.

  • Nice hacking lol. I love my usmc kabar so I might look into getting one of those too.

  • I am also a USMC Ka Bar fan, if you like that knife, this one will also feel very comfortable and familiar in your hand. It's a great knife for the money.

  • Nice and effective knife; it doesn't seem like much of an effort to cut a dead tree of that size down. Ka-Bar is obviously a great manufacturer, I have only read and heard good things about their knives.

The size looks pretty good, like a good balance between performance / cutting power and compactness / weight. At least that's how it appears to me.

  • Well said! I completely agree with your assessment. These are the qualities that make this knife a great choice for field use. Thanks for watching and for commenting.

  • Did the coating on the knife rub off on yours?

  • Yes, it always does on these types of knives if you use it in this way. Fortunately, it doesn't effect the functionality of the blade though. Thanks for commenting!

  • nice man.

    relly cool .

the knife is all most like a mini machety

  • True, but it is much more steady and solid than most machetes that I have worked with in the past. Thanks for watching!

  • Wow man you made that look easy as pie. That knife is really cool. I'm pretty new to this stuff but I'm building my own kit and I could use a knife like that one. If you don't mind could you tell me where to get one and about how much it would cost. Killer video, 5 stars.

  • The knife I used in this video is a real bargain from cheaper than dirt. It cost $40.00 with the sheath! I think it is a great knife for the money, if you get it you will not be disappointed. Also, they have several other models of the Ka Bar bowie knife in the same price range. You may want to look at those as well. If you do order, let me know what you choose... Take Care.

  • wow no need for a small Gerber pack ax when ya got that thing

  • The Ax is nice too, but a large quality made fixed blade can get the job done if you need it too! thanks for watching!

  • u shud do a tabletop review what kind of sheath does it have? thigh strap?

  • Check out my video "New gear from CTD" I do a quick table review there. Thanks for your interest!

  • I like the idea of the knife being a multi purpose tool I think they do a good job on splitting wood since you have more control than axe But I think I will stick with the saw for cutting down and sizing just imo great video again

  • I will send you a reply personally, too long for here! Thanks for watching!

  • Chop Suey! Thanks for watching!

  • all i can say to the tree is...

    YOU GOT PWNED YOU NUB!!!

  • Same to you!

  • dude, personaly im a fan of the axe when it comes to choping dead standing wood, but i have the cold steel k-bar and like it alot...also i was wondering what u would sugest as a backup nife... thanks

    good vids

  • Thanks for watching and commenting. Actually, I am a fan of the axe too. But, I use an axe at home where I don't have to carry it. I know different people have different approaches when it comes to packing for the field, but for me, I like carrying this type of knife because it can do such a wide array of work chores. I feel like I (me personally), am more flexible w/ a survival knife than an axe. If the axe is better for you, by all means you should use it. as for the backup knife.....

  • This is a tough question for me, b/c it all depends on what the backup is for. For me, I often carry a USMC Ka Bar which is slightly lighter than the camp knife but can in a pinch do the same duties. I also carry a Glock knife in the field sometimes as well. (see my vid on this if you're interested) I also carry a folding knife in my kit at all times for smaller chores also. I hope this helps. By the way, what Axe do you use? I like the FISKERS brand axes when splitting firewood! Thanks!

  • i like Fiskers also. I am also a fan of the gerber camp axe and the cold steel rifleman hawk blade. the only thing about the gerber is that it is on the expensive side. the cold steel is cheaper and to me it has the same cutting power.

  • Thanks for sharing! I have looked at the Gerber before and it reminded me of the Fiskers but like you said, more expensive. I'll have to look into the Cold steel, I don't know if I have seen that one before. Thanks for the info. Take Care!

  • Is that just a regular Ka-bar or not? If not, what is the exact name of that knife? I have a USMC Ka-bar...excellent knife. I'm also looking for gloves to wear in the woods. Would you recommend yours? If so, what are they called and where would I get them?

    Good vids...keep it up. 5/5

    God bless.

  • It is the Camp Knife Model. It has a 8" Bolo Blade. It is made to the same specifications as the USMC knife but has a bit more length and girth for chopping. I also have the USMC Ka Bar which I also love but for different work. The gloves that I wore in this video were Wells Lamont leather palm work gloves w/ polyester/spandex backing. They are Olive Drab in color. I would recommend these as good quality work gloves. RN#32198 check Lowes. Good Luck, Take Care.

  • is the ka-bar a full tang knife?

  • Yes. It's design is the same as the USMC Ka Bar except for the blade itself. The handle, pommel and grip (Kraton G rubber rings) are just like many of the newer USMC style Ka Bar knives. Thanks for watching

  • This Ka-Bar certainly looks like a worthwhile investment. Where would you reccomend aquiring an item like this, and at what price range?

By the way, very nice video

  • Thanks for your kind comment! This camp knife is available through cheaper Than Dirt for $39.97! I think it's a great deal. I believe it is a closeout special so if your interested, don't wait. If I understand correctly, Ka Bar has a newer version of this knife hence the closeout. Also, you can see my video "New gear from CTD" for more on info on this knife. Thanks for your interest!

  • Ka-Bar is top of the line to me! Im kinda biased on this... my Father carried a Ka-Bar on our camping trips and I carried one while in the USMC, and still carry one when I go into the woods. Solid workhorse I have to agree! Great video.

  • Thanks NCHiker! The Ka Bar is nostalgic! I also keep the USMC issue knife. Time tested and proven!

  • Great job bro! Yet another Packrat classic in the making!

  • Thanks Nightblade!

  • as usual a very nice useful video. thx for sharing man. I hope that u will make a field test for the Glock knife and make a comparison between the Glock knife and Ka Bar maybe with other knifes too and tell us what is the conclusion that u find as you are an experienced man in this field thx in advance.

    5* for the vid

  • Thanks for your your kind comments and for the suggestion. As soon as I have the opportunity, I will get back in the field to film more. Thanks for watching.

  • Looks like it will definately do the job. My K-bar Heavy bowie knife from CTD should be here Wednesday. I have seen nutnfancy using it batoning wood in camp and it does a great job too.

  • I have no doubts you will be very pleased with your purchase. Thanks for the rating!
