The vz/tz pvp server is being wiped in a few days, the date isn't set yet but probably either wednesday or thursday. Theres a new host since the last wipe and the server experiences no lag even with 60+ people in 1 zone.
i remember when they had those..seems after kunark expan they stopped..i remember figthing in south karana and they would advertise best of the best and i'd be 2 zones away
WoW was a good step from EQ(mostly) when wow came out, EQ was starting to suffer - on my server anyway - problem is, WoW wasent able to recreate that "feeling" that EQ instilled in most of it's playerbase, you werent just playing a game in EQ, you were THERE, in it.
But WoW has such a high player base becuase, in truth - its mainstream, and caters to many kinds of people; and it "can" be fun to a new player; but only becuase the motions are new.
Thats all WoW was able to recreate/improve - the motions involved in a mmo, but they have yet to capture the essence that make it feel immersive; but maybe they do that on purpose to avoid the old EQ phsyco cases (babies locked in closets, people killnig themself over game relate bs)

WoW is obviously been more successful, but for me, it will never feel as good as EQ, nor will it ever be as memorable
WoW has (well use to lol) solid story line, it makes you feel as though your progressing in a story. for example thought the lich king you have discovered and deafeated so much, now the Lich king is in reach ... Killable atlast ...
Blizzard are fucking smart people they know what draws us in ... and they know how to keep drawing us players in ...
EQ clearly is the foundation for the MMORPG gaming "Era" if you will ...

simple reason eq beats all other games, it required skill and coordination between many people, its a social game, wow is simply not social, you can get from 1-80 in wow alone where as in eq no matter your class you had to group at some point or another to lvl. wow sucks eq owns

One of the few really good Skill based games that provided no mercy to the players. loved it and always will. It will always set the standard for me

We can levitate in eq1 mages can summon rings of levitation. I really miss this ability in eq2 :( it was so much fun you could take off from a high cliff and basically fly over the zone

WoW is an MMO with nothing to do at the endgame except raid with incompetent players. Then they downsized the instances because the quality of WoW players was so low (Naxx 40 man to 25 to 10, lol).
EQ had fun PvP and challenging PvE. It had penalties for dying, but you felt like beating raid content was actually an accomplishment because of the level of difficulty of EQ raids

Sounds like someone is stuck in the past. Just because it's older doesn't mean it's better. Technically speaking, World of Warcraft is beyond comparison for this game. This game was new and groundbreaking, but that's the only thing it has in advantage. The genre is saturated these days, but chances are they are more impressive than this game. Get out of the past, and move on.
It is not even about being older or graphics, it is about FEATURES. Do you know how it feels to corpse run in EQ and the consequences it was in the game ? Do you know that mobs could actually be trained? that mobs had social aggro mechanisms WAY more complexe than any MMO since ? List could be long. It was just so complex.
I had way more fun playing EQ than i ever did in WoW, it's kind of crazy. I guess because it's the first of it's kind, so it was an all new experience. I'l never forget my first time in South RO getting fucked up by Dorn lol

EQ isnt dead... your talking about the sleeper that needed to be killed to advance the storyline. with the 16th expantion comming out last fall it is still going along and with mobs hitting fer 10kish a hit its still fairly tough although back when the sleeper was up it was the toughest mob around.
EQ is dead. The ending of EQ is awakening the dragon who runs rampant killing all the things in his path and as far as I know it has happened on every server. It doesn't reset. Actually, one server is left--the MAC server. So, if the end of the world is waking him up and trying to kill him (the ultimate in a multi-guild raid), then what is the point? If they would reset it it would at least make all those killing skeletons worthwhile. Instead it hangs on like grandma on the ventilator.

The players in WoW are what make the game so terrible. I don't feel like playing with a bunch of 11 year olds talking shit all the time. EQ's players were awesome and the world was actually interesting. Not to mention the emphasis no grouping. You can solo WoW all the way to lvl 70 and that sucks. Not to mention that the WoW world is 1/10 the size of the EQ world.
EQ is the best, its extremely expansive, there is almost limitless amount of quests and mobs to kill. Wow is for little kids, people who dont want any challenge whatsoever play wow, its a fact
wow is easy mode mmo with barely any content. People start on wow now that its out (like children who use training wheels) then graduate to EQ (take the training wheels off). EQ players are better gamers seeing as eq is alot harder and raids and content are insane compared to wow. But wow kids wont know that because they only know simplicity. EQ came first, much like the bike i mentioned, (bikes came in the 1800s training wheel-less) wow came out (intro to training wheels) Im better than you~

Is there an option for the new skins or something? I noticed on your video that some players had the old skins and others had the newer ones and what I mean by skins is when they remodeled all the races.
Levitate spell, allows you to go over objects with relative ease and allows protects you against spells that damage you by lifting you into the air and dropping you.

It didn't have fun PvP, and well, NO challenges AT ALL.

EQ isnt dead... your talking about the sleeper that needed to be killed to advance the storyline. with the 16th expantion comming out last fall it is still going along and with mobs hitting fer 10kish a hit its still fairly tough although back when the sleeper was up it was the toughest mob around.

EQ is dead. The ending of EQ is awakening the dragon who runs rampant killing all the things in his path and as far as I know it has happened on every server. It doesn't reset. Actually, one server is left--the MAC server. So, if the end of the world is waking him up and trying to kill him (the ultimate in a multi-guild raid), then what is the point? If they would reset it it would at least make all those killing skeletons worthwhile. Instead it hangs on like grandma on the ventilator.

Hey I am also from Xev from back in the day. I noticed that you must of been in "Altera Vita" because I saw names like Kinafe, Abigail, Ramal as well as others. I got to level 72 and then had to quit playing due to real life. AV was an awesome guild. I wonder if they're still raiding today...

The players in WoW are what make the game so terrible. I don't feel like playing with a bunch of 11 year olds talking shit all the time. EQ's players were awesome and the world was actually interesting. Not to mention the emphasis no grouping. You can solo WoW all the way to lvl 70 and that sucks. Not to mention that the WoW world is 1/10 the size of the EQ world.

wow is easy mode mmo with barely any content. People start on wow now that its out (like children who use training wheels) then graduate to EQ (take the training wheels off). EQ players are better gamers seeing as eq is alot harder and raids and content are insane compared to wow. But wow kids wont know that because they only know simplicity. EQ came first, much like the bike i mentioned, (bikes came in the 1800s training wheel-less) wow came out (intro to training wheels) Im better than you~
