Wow, I can't believe I forgot this theme song. Used to get frustrated with this cartoon as a little kid because I wanted to see the Cattanooga Cats on more and instead they would keep showing Autocat and Motormouse (boring! I liked the band!) I did like "It's the Wolf" with Paul Lynde voicing the wolf though. Funny stuff, I'd see him on Hollywood Squares and go "there's the wolf!"
@johnalang It's a crying shame really, 1969 was a sad time for animation
The FCC forced ABC to cancel Hot Wheels due to they were "half hour commercials" plus The Banana Splits was stealing The Cattanooga Cats's thunder every step of the way
the hook "doin their thing chabadah chabadah" will always be stuck in my head because it's so catchy! im only 20 but i heart this cartoon since i get to see it on the boomerang channel=]
Whoa, never seen the Catanooga Cats before, they look out of sight though(I take it that the Mr. Men show stole this toon's funky vibes and art style)!
Aww possum, I'm not angry. I was pulling your leg....just a little bit (cos I wouldn't want to hurt ya!) But isn't this a cute cartoon?! I loved it when I was little.
@coolascooler87 Actually, there has been talk of a Catanooga Cats live action movie at Warner Bros. from time to time, and I think it would be a rather interesting idea - as long as they stay true to the characters.
whoever came up with this show was on some serious drugs but this song is persistent in my brainbox...That theme has an edge that kind of lived into the punk/new wave era for sure. Kitty Jo must have been on her back for those guys constantly...after all , it was the 60's ..and...they're all tom cats..hehehe
Cattanooga Cats don't ever purr They know how, but not what fer Cattanooga Cats don't go meow wouldnt try, but they know how doin' their thing (chubada, chubada) doin' their thing (chubada chubada) doin' their thing (chubada, chubada) The Cattanooga Cats are doin' their thing!
Wow...Holy flashback! I used to have an LP of the Catanooga Cats songs. My favorite was "how do you like me in my birthday suit?". Very weird for a kids record.
Being a cat owner & cat lover..I *hafta* opine it was my fave Saturday AM series back in its day..
And the Swat Kats are a *tie* with the C.C.'s
By the way, I tried to pitch a one-off mini-series "Sawt Kats meet the Cattanooga Cats"..was considered in 1999..abandoned in 2001 after Bill Hanna's passing.
Uguale...i gatti di Cattanooga (pron. CHattanooga). Erano cartoni di Hanna & Barbera ed all'interno dello show c'erano: Topomoto e Autogatto; Attenti al lupo; il giro del mondo in 79 giorni e Frankestein junior.
I love and have very fond memories of this show. It would be nice to see it released on DVD someday. Long live classic TV cartoons and thanks for posting this!
eran muy bueno sobre todo el autogato y el motorraton y la ovejita nancy aca en chile se llamaban los catedraticos del ritmo y lo daban en el pipiripao de los años 80
The Cattanooga Cats used to be on Boomerang which is the Cartoon Network's oldies channel They stopped running the CC's about a year ago. I agree, this is a kick for those of us coherent in 1969!
That's amazing - how'd they manage to play bass and guitar without strings?
