I'll take this three wheeler over any of those Trike Harley road toads. Two wheels up front is much more efficient and safer than having them in the rear. Less chance of rolling. These things are a helluva lot more fun than any car.
A trike w/ the two wheels in front instead of the back. I like the look. I'll have to ride one before I can make any judgements on power, maneuverability, etc..
A trike w/ the two wheels in front instead of the back. I like the look. I'll have to ride one before I can make any judgements on power, maneuverability, etc..
I've driven several 100's of kilometers with this 'bike'. It's fun and relatively powerful but it's not good on corners, and it's actually rather uncomfortable on a swinging road as you can't lean. Better than a car but not even close to being as fun as a bike.
Nice looking piece of kit, but correct if i'm wrong, is true to say that a bike has (2) wheels.. a trike has (3) wheels.. and that quad has (4) wheels..so to me that makes it trike in my book.. does it not???
3rd wheel opens up the road experience to more people and adds an element of safety since mostly everyone in a 4 wheeled vehicle is doing just about everything but focusing on driving. how is this a bad thing?
All these negative comments are amazing. I have a Suzuki M109R and now since Apr 2010. a Spyder too. They are both lots of fun just different. Suzuki is faster but the Spyder is still quick and is safer. I rode the Spyder yesterday in 32 degree weather with an occasional small patch of snow on the roads. . I wouldn't have taken the Suzuki out in these conditions.
looks badass as fuck,but...only from the outside.whats new about it?its all the same internal combustion engine, the same wheels.whats the point in making this stuff?
If you are going to make a bike the size of a car ... what's the point ?! The whole point of a bike is to pass cars stuck in traffic jams or to zip along twisty country roads(general freedom) .This has all the disadvantages of a bike (vulnerability, open to the elements etc) and a car (Size and agility) with none of bonuses of either. I'm an ex-biker , paraplegic and my quad bike is smaller than this.
@Miller6616 its not really that big...its like the same size as my snowmobile, which is much smaller than a car. would be some fun to take this thing out for a spin.
@Miller6616 It's probably just about doing something that's different. Practicality is only part of the picture; some people just want to buy something unique. For them it's about novelty. Just look at all the impractical weird stuff people buy for home remodeling, car customization, etc. The people who run this company are trying to tap into that part of the market. And seeing as how they've been selling these things for 4 years, it looks like their gamble paid off.
@Miller6616 I don't know where you live, but the majority of the US can't lane split. The Spyder looks easy to master, while few people ever get a knee down on a sport bike and a lot of cruisers have poor lean angles before dragging hard parts, so I doubt the agility difference is that great when comparing average riders, if there is any draw back compared to cruisers no matter the rider. Of course I'd stuff a CBR600 engine in a supermotoed TRX450R if the state let me over a Spyder.
@Miller6616 quad bikes arent aloud on highways, these are my mom whos gettin one needs one because whe has very bad osteoporosis in her legs and cant support the weight of a motorbike but she still wants to enjoy riding with me and my dad on ours
@Miller6616 Perhaps one of the points of making this bike is so it's users are less likely to become paraplegics? This bike is inherently safer because it has three wheels. Of course, it won't give ALL of the benefits of a two-wheeled bike, therefore. The choice is up to you...
And also... @shadedude123... Anyone who is riding a bike of any kind...be it a rocket or otherwise...is NOT looking for a safe ride... Myself owning a CBR 900...I don't ride it thinking I'm riding safely... I ride it hoping some idiot doesn't do something dumb on my way home from work...heh...
This thing is in all reality...a warm weather snowmobile...lol. Seeing as how...in all aspects of being...it's a snowmobile with wheels instead of skis...lol. So I guess if you like snowmobiles you'd like these...and if not...well...you won't... LOL.. I think we can leave this at one of those "LOVE/HATE" things...lol
@spacemangoes This is at least 400cc I would say ,in Canada you will need a special permit and in quebec you will pay a robbery price for plaques and insurance. I used to pay 5times more fror my motorcycle than what I would pay for my Lincoln . The government decided that big motorcycles are at risk and should be charged more. We know this is only a pretext to charge people more. Because the real risk is not what you drive, but how you drive it. Let people enjoy life and stop taxing fun
everybody talking shit bout the spyder is because you dont have pne or it cost to much..... thing is bad ass i own two of them.... i have had bikes gxsr 750 and blah blah thing is sweet fuck everybody talking shit

not true my grandfather was the guy in the catologue and he got to ride it for the whole day, he said the only thing is its a very strange feeling and takes some getting used to because the vehicle does not lean, cornering is very sketchy because he is a seasoned motorcycle rider, its more for people who like to be stable and like to feel safer.

power to weight of 350BHP per tonne means you can pass cars and 2 front wheels means corners can be taken faster than a bike.

@Curveking That isn't true, the automatic safety system kicks in if you try to take a corner at high speed.
