I heard Mainframe Entertainment were cancelling the show from this point because the Toyline Trendmasters who the characters are based off; cut the funding of the show "Damn them" The writers had to rush to find an appropriate ending I guess putting Graveheart & Jade together suddenly was something they had to do to set up the ending as on the 2nd episode On the Rocks. They were talking about their relationship in a past context Graveheart called her best friend
@BigRedOfTUFW There was a script where they had Planet Tek Tekla's home world was suppose to return as a dead planetoid, which frankly would have been more engaging plot than the episode Embers of the Past where Planet Fire returned briefly
Final summation the old script was suppose to leave more open for the series to continue I.E for a season 3, If Graveheart & Jade were always meant to be together it probably would have happened in a more natural way. Who knows
@runwith100 Can you point me to where you got all this information from? I've always been very curious about how season 2 was originally intended to go pre-cancellation.
Tek returning would have made more sense. We know next to nothing of Tekla's life before Tek was destroyed and it would have been nice to see her get some good character development since she gets sadly shoved to the background for much of the middle of season 2.
@morgeil Try Checking out the Shadow Raiders Underground site & look for the page "About Planet Sand"
This is a forum page where they are briefly & I mean briefly discussing the change of story in season 2
There is some other info floating around this website as well if you have the patience to go through it, but it's mostly character discussions or episode debates and such.
I would have posted the page myself but Youtube isn't letting me post website links so apologies!
@BigRedOfTUFW The subtext of the relationship was always there, just the transition from subtext to screen was sudden. As runwith100 mentioned, it probably would have progressed more naturally if the show wasn't prematurely cancelled.
@morgeil to be honest with you the site that had that info is down now.
The site had all the character Bio's & info on the Voice actors from Vancouver and the episode summations.
This was altered before the site went down though to what season 2 turned out to be. I don't remember when I noticed the change perhaps the year 2000 I'd say. But I did make a mental note some of what I had read online wasn't in the show but I hadn't paid that much attention anyway at the time.
mantle deserves a mega hulk smash and keep on smashin untill there's nothing left!! and those fire troops must be high on something, they saw the power of the beast planet, what hopes do they have???
Part of Jade's deal, maybe? "I'll take the Battle Moons, please. And if you could be less of a jerk to my boyfriend while you're at it, that'll be great."

Continuity error.
Grave heart is banished from setting foot on rock again under penalty of death.

@Galactatech - I get the impression that Jade, when she convinced Mantle to let them use the Battle Moons, also got Graveheart some amnesty.

If four battle moons couldn't dent The beast Planet, then one moon alone would be like using spit balls against a tank.
