Having seen this video montage I am really impressed with Krasnodar (originally Katerynodar or Yekaterinodar). It appears to be a very beautiful and clean city. The image of the cossack couple standing in a sunflower field at 2:11 really caught my attention but it can also serve a as a subtle reminder of soviet propaganda art minus the soviet communist ideology.

Privet! I visited gorod Krasnodar twice in 2006 -- once in May (was there on 9 May) and once in December. I spent a week there in May, and two weeks in December. I can't wait to go back ... it's a wonderful place, and I love the people. Viva Krasnodar! Thanks for the slideshow! Poka i udachi!

It is a monument to the Kuban cossacks.

Yes the monument to the Kuban cossacks: descendants of the Zaporizhian cossacks and the Ukrainian peasants who followed the cossacks to settle the northwest caucasus near the end of the 18th century.

I am from Norway. I've been in Krasnodar 6 times between 1996 and 1999. About half a year totally. This is a very beautiful and special city. Although very different from my country. I hope I will have the chance to go back there again.
