  • ...did i just get rick rolled?

  • fuck I love karate.

  • one of the nicest(as in clear) presentations of Rohai.....its good to see Ota Sensei still conducting training at his Dojo, and making these professional Videos, Rising Sun is no fly bynight operation(Pun intended)

  • Ota Sensei! Onegaishimasu!

  • power****

  • he's my master!! he has unbelivable powers and speed

  • where are you from?

  • Ota has just released a new dvd set on kata!!

  • This is more like a trailer for his video.. Dont understand why he do the movements in slow and weak way.. But, i really guess and believe, Ota Sensei s techniques must b sharp and powerful than this.. But??? confused :(

  • Eihachi Ota is my master!

  • Have you ever met Ota Sensei??

  • you little karate boy.. what do you know about martial arts.. giving me a lesson.. i am a 4dan karate instructor..

  • then learn some respect.

  • to Merari2306 sounds like you dont need to train anymore,as you know everything, what you do need is to learn respect and humility,i pity your students, if you have any,and judging by your attitude i dont think you have

  • to Merari2306 sounds like you dont need to train anymore,as you know everything, what you do need is to learn respect and humility,i pity your students, if you have any,and judging by your attitude i dont think you have

  • i do need to train. but it doesnt mean i dont know how to judge a kata or a performance.. i wont take a karate kata for good if it is done with TAI CHI speed and power. sorry, i have never seen a style of karate like that. if this guy wants to do slow katas he should try TAI CHI karate is not for him.

  • your being much to literal. Considering the context of the video it is for 'Show'. I have trained in a dojo with this sensei, and he is capable of speed, power and direction that I at 26 have a hard time wrapping my head around. This Ota is unbelievable to train with, and plain scary with the Kama's. He punched a makiwara loose from the concrete it was tapconed to right before my eyes. Lets not forget the fact he runs triathlons at his age still.

  • @merari2306, You should have respect and know that this is how he was asked to perform. It is not hard to find out how much power & speed he has if you are interested, he is in Gardena California.

  • @ShorinRyuRonin To add onto what you posted, I believe it was Miyamoto Musashi who said "If someone is skilled in this Way, he does not appear to be fast."

  • @merari2306 In regards to "Tai Chi speed and power", this particular style of Shorin-Ryu (I believe Matsubayashi-Ryu) was never meant to have the speed and power of the other Shuri-te styles. This falls under Migwa-te, developed by Chotoku Kyan. The speed and power is intentionally replaced with slower, circular moves. If you're familiar with Chan Migwa's history, you can see why.

  • @MrNickjannini, I have had great teachers that people would have done anything to train under thank you, sorry again if you were insulted but it was you that started the insult. Good day to you also & good luck on your training.

  • Belts dont necessarily indicate your potential. They just help identify who is at what level. That 4th degree belt may be good enough for you at your school. But Ive never considered myself good enough for one in the presence of real karate practitioners. You should be in peak physical form second and second to none for your potential before considering a black belt. Demeanor also has a lot to do with it, and you should work on that aspect diligently.

  • donrw, Thank you. This is a great video. How long have you been practicing and do you like the style?

  • Ota Sensei is the true Matsubayashi Ryu Karate-ka! HE IS DA MAN!

  • RYULAjet - I AGREE!!! HE IS DA MAN! This video rocks!

Do you train with sensei Ota?

  • I do Matsubayashi Ryu and have only trained with him twice at his seminars. I have a couple of his videos and his new book too. 'Who da man? HE DA MAN!'

  • RyuLAjet - I also like very much is, Sensei Jim Sindt.

When Sensei Sindt do kata is like perfection. I am wondering if you've seen his video on YouTube. Of course Sensei OTA is still the Shiz-naz. It's good to chat with you Bro. Matsubayashi Ryu ROCKS...!!!

  • KobayashiShorinRyu - I did catch Sensei Jim Sindt on the YouTube. His Kusanku is hot!!! Thanks for the hook up! So, do you do Kobayashi or Matsubayashi Ryu? Have you trained with Sensei Jim Sindt? Catch you lataz...Da RyuLA...

  • this guy is patheric.. he is so weak.. in our dojo all tecniques done with weapons are way stronger than this.. the point of using a weapon is to damage the oponent .. not to scratch his back

  • This is actually the prelude part of his DVDs so it is really not an actual example of the speed and power of his skillz. He's showing more technique than power. So do they use real and sharp kamas from the hardware store, or do you use the fakeys? FYI, Ota Sensei is using real sickled kamas! It's SICK! There is nothing pathetic and weak about Ota Sensei. It was told that he once broke a makiwara board with a single strike. I'm sure he would do more damage than a scratch on ones back!

  • oh and merari2306, before you hate, try showing up with some spelling skillz...it's pathetic not patheric, it's techniques not tecniques, and it's opponent not oponent. I hope that your spelling is no indication of how you approach your Karate and your training. peace...DA RyuLA

  • so now you have become an esl teacher hu?? you creep

  • merari - from your response, I take it that the kamas you use in your dojo must be rather dull. The name calling is a little juvenile. A little Zen in your life may be beneficial.

  • You guys, LOL! shut up. Very funny. I am telling dad!

Hello Ota Sensei, you are the man!!!

  • Let's move on please :) and kiss and make up!

  • Love this video! Amazing!

  • Me Too! LIKE I A LOT!

  • True2thearts-As for PCDental1(Ed)- He is the one who convince me to post my comments with respect and not to mention any names and remove the hate in my posttings. He explain many things about Mushin and Jita-Kyoei and for that I thank him. I hope he is smart, and also quit your dojo. You do not deserve a person like him. But what puzzles me, he speaks highly of you. Go figure........

  • SKC666-I know we only talk in the youtube e-mail and if your name is Keith, I just have one question, why did you start talking badly about our dojo right after I transfered to another school. I do worry, because as soon as I left, your group started bashing us. Have I spoken to you in person? Are you upset because I skipped yellow belt and got promoted to orange belt and not happy about it?

  • True2thearts-Also, Do not start a witch hunt. I am not "K" you are totally wrong. As for me being weak, yes I am weak for not getting out your dojo soon. PCDental1 and I only talk via YouTube e-mail only. He ask me why I do not post comments or express my views on Tony's video. I told him because Tony block me from posting.

  • just ignore them

  • You can not fight the Black Belt Clubs! Just join them, and be a member!

  • Dude! do not mess with the Black belt Club! Do you want your butt kicked!

  • OTA SENSEI is the original true2thearts.

  • SuikendoCrap666 - true2thearts is right, kindly also remove the Crap part as well. It seems those two words

is putting you in a bad mood. The offer still stand and we are here for you when you are ready to talk.

    PEACE.

  • DONRW, first of all, we would like thank you so much for allowing us to point our views in your video blog and you are truly a good person to allow this. To SuikendoCrap666, please if you have a problem with any dojo or with us, come and see us and we will prove you wrong. We are all martial artist and we must conduct ourselves with honor and respect. My teacher is Sensei Lloyd and Sensei Bill and my name is ED. I am not upset with you. I am just sad for your

    actions. I wish you peace.

  • Cont. I feel that if you sign a contract for 3 years at $130 a month you should at least get a full hour.

I guess, if a dojo is black belt factory, you don't need to teach the student the right way. Some say, if I show it to them and they don't get it, it's not my problem. Ota sensei always takes care of his students and I wish other dojo do the same. end-----

  • Maybe you are really angry at out system because you weren't really good at it. Otherwise I really don't understand why you are spending so much time posting all these negative comments about our dojo! Somebody who has peace in their hearts and is happy with themselves should not go about posting some of the garbage you have. Why don't you just continue with your style and stop putting ours down? Or maybe you could give it another try and maybe this time you will be better at it.

  • Cont. and I see student looking confuse. They will practice kata maybe once or twice and then move on, and when they are doing their katas, they all do it differently and the posistioning of the arms and legs

are all wrong. How can a dojo promote students and not know their requirements. 45 minutes is too short

of a time to teach. We all get a full hour and then some. Cont.

  • In our dojo, we go through all our belt rank requirements in sequence or in order so the brain can learn it in layers and the student can memorize it better and so far it's working very well. I noticed in some dojos, they would practice a kata or a bunkai here and there one day and the next day they will throw something completely different from the norm. cont.

  • Also, with yamashita they like speed and that's why all their students have bad form. tadashi, remember to practice slow and speed and power come much, much later. I see a group kata and everyone is doing it in different speeds and no team work.

  • I notice that when yama-shit-ta do a seminar he is always upset and get mad because everyone is doing their kata wrong. Do not blame the students, blame the instructors for neglecting their duties. You teach bad martial art you get bad martial artist,

and what the hell is Suikendo, they say he invented it when he was 13 years old. Another money making scam and not even in the original Shorin ryu.

  • Mr. budo08, you're wrong when you say we do not care about tadashi yamashita, not only we don't care, we don't give a damn. As far as I'm concern, Lloyd Knight, Emanuel Borbon can go to hell with him. They say, oh we have instructor training but your Yudansha

have different version and interpritation of your katas. You guys walk around and kiss each others ass and you forget your students.

  • budo08- to call yamashita a master is an insult to all martial artist. I agree with 07ATF and yes it is true, it's a black belt factory! He has nidans that do very bad katas and the shonens, yonens and kohais are the worse. His black belts don't even agree when they teach. IRS should really look in to their finances.

  • You make harsh statements suikendoCrap666 either you have already practiced at our dojo and failed miserably in our arts and that's why you talk the way you do. Or you are just a bitter person in general who has nothing better to do. Since you know our dojos address, our contract, our finances (how much we charge) our instructors name and ranks it leads me to believe you know a lot better than we know you. Why hide under a fictitious name. Why don't you introduce yourself to us?

  • true2thearts, thank you for not using inappropriate words. Well I am speaking in general and if you are not a black belt factory or selling black belts then your group should not worry! How do you know that I am refering to your dojo, I did not metioned any dojo name or any sensei's name? I don't know your group. What is your style and who is your teacher, and how come you sound so defensive. Did I hit a nerve?

  • SuikendoCrap666, no you didn't hit a nerve. If anything I'm just curious why so much hatred towards our instructor. Yes, I train under Hanshi Yamashita. I am a black belt. In on of the what do you call it? Mcdojos? So I think I do have the right to question who you are? since you have so much information? I don't think from reading your past post comments that your comments were general. They were very specific towards our school, our bb, our nidans, Remember your comments?? So what's your name?

  • ture2thearts, My friends and I already apolagize to Mr. Tadashi Yamashita and you are reading old postings. Before I answer you, what is your name and why you still think I refering to your group. Are you that guilty of selling black belts? Remember I did not mentioned your dojo or your teacher in this last post and yet you are still pushing the issue! Again, if you are not a black belt fatory, then you should not worry. If you are not guilty, don't respond.

  • SuikendoCrap666, Let me remind you that it was you that made the comment about our instructor Mr. Lloyd Knight being a backstabber. That is when you referred to my group! You apologized to Hanshi. To be fully forgiven, you need to apologize to Mr. LLoyd Knight as well. So no, we're not guilty, so there's no need for you to continue talking about us like we're guilty. Alot of us think your first name begins with a a "K" If I'm wrong, that's the only thing I'm guilty of.

  • true2thearts, if it's "K" what then? Are you going to send someone to beat me up. Why are you still repsonding, I DID NOT MENTION YOUR SCHOOL OR NAME NAMES and why do you still think it's you I'm talikng about is beyond me. Take care of your students and don't let them down.

  • SuikendoCrap666, Have a nice day SuikendoCrap, but get rid of the 666, it seems to put you in a bad mood or worse, keep you in a bad mood. I know who you are "K". :) Peace.

  • true2thearts, I will not try your system another try.

A dojo should include everyone. Black Belt Club divides the haves and have not. Not to mention the different unifroms and patches they have to buy. Martial arts is already expensive and you are making it harder for average people like us to join in the arts that should promote unity not division. I remember when Karate and kobudo is part of whole curriculum. Now it's sold separately

  • tru2thearts, I did not fail in your system. Your teachers fail their students and I'm not willing to buy my black belt. I want to earn it. Plus your many different uniforms and many patches is just way too much for my budget. I practice karate and I'm not a bill board! The day you stop selling black bels, is the day I will come back!

  • SuikendoCrap, You keep mentioning patches and uniforms as an excuse if that's the best you've got. Then you are weak man! very very weak! I wish you luck with whatever form you choose. You will need it.

  • True2thearts, when I fisrt post comments, I did not mention you or your group. But you felt so guilty that you had to respond. You kept pushing the issue that I was talking about you. Well for the last time. If you are not guilty of selling Black Belts do not repond to my comments. Your group loooks more guilty!

  • They will keep on pushing and send their ninjas :)

  • love the ninjas! Wha-ta!

  • I am a Ninja from Korea! Ota sensei ROCKS!

  • I just finished my 5th 3 day clinic with Ota sensei and I even had the privilege of sparring with him. It was the best asskicking I have ever recieved. He is the fastest karate man I have ever seen.

  • Ryan492- You are a very lucky man and very smart to study under Ota Sensei. We are not so lucky in Temecula California, we have tadashi "hollywood" yamashita. It's the worse that Shorin-ryu school ever

and people are so blind because they don't know any better. It's a damn balck belt factory.

  • Ryan492, what makes Ota Sensei fast because he took his time learning it the proper and the right way. The man moves like water and he is an amazing teacher.

If you get a black belt form him or any instructor of his you know you got it from the best. I hope you continue learning from him. Ota Sensei Rocks!!!

  • The club I train at is an Ota-kai dojo in Ontario. My direct sensei has been training with Ota sensei for the last 8 or 9 years and is a nana-dan under Ota. I was a nidan in shotokan until I meat him and then I decided to swich styles and tested under Ota for nidan last fall. My training has matured so much since then.

  • Ryan492, That's frigin awesome. Shotakan is also a good art. I studied Shotokan before I move to Jujitsu.

I was going to sign up with the yama-shit-a group but

I am so glad I did my research. You are truly blessed and I'm so happy for you. May you and your sensei live long. Ontario ROCKS!!!

  • Thank you very much

  • I saw the uniform that the yamashit-ta budo people is wearing, You are right zengun8! I think tadashit yamashit-ta lost his mind or his head had gotten so big that he looks like a taekwondo guy with lots of patches! OTA sensei is traditional when it comes to uniform and they can all learn from him!

  • Well it sounds like you are saying you don't care for Master Yamashita. Having been all over the world and studied with master yamashita for 40 years (his oldest and highest ranking student) I seriously doubt anyone is faster than he is. Looks like you may have been put down before and have a burr under your saddle. Too bad as you missed the true spirit of martial arts.

  • budo08-Who cares if he travel other planets. 40 years

of bad budo and bad acting. How many frigin uniforms and patches do you shove on your student to buy. There is no spirits in his budo just money making scams. I hope the IRS do an audit on your organization. I have seen tadashi's student and it's so sad to see Shorin ryu ruin.

  • Why people hate tadashi and lloyd knight. mr. knight promoted and sold his dojo in Conneticut to mr. borbon. Borbon started Shorin ryu at age 29 and now at present he is renshi? After arriving in California, knight back stab Sensei Rabago to gain control and now he has 3 McDojos in Temecula and more coming. When money is involve in Budo, people get greedy. If you want to learn True Shorin Ryu, learn from Ota Sensei.

  • Kenzento1, thank you for directing me to this cool video. Unlike Tadashi Yamashita, Master OTA is very true to the art of Shorin-Ryu and a humble man. Tadashi is inveting this new system called Suikendo and I have seen it and it's another way for to sell it make money. Ota Sensei, thak you for a great video!

  • I admire Ota Sensei so much and someday I want to meet this fine gentleman. A true Shorin-Ryu MASTER!

Love the simple white uniform. Yamashita can learn a lot from this man.

  • Man! he move like water, just amazing. I agree with zengun8, he is better than Tadashi"hollywood"Yamashita

Yamashita is too commercialized and money hungry. It would be an honor to learn from Ota Sensei!

  • This guy is way better, 200% better than Tadashi Yamashita. This is what Shorin-ryu kata should look like. Notice, he is wearing only a white gi, very cool. Yamashita have black and white, all blue, white

and red and tons of patches. Damn! he looks like a damn Taekwondo guy. OTA is the best! Yamashita should

go back and learn from Ota Sensei. Love the video!

  • Ota is amazing to see live and up close; very fast and powerful!!

  • Does anybody know who performs this amazing music?

  • me.
