This song does have a slight resemblance to Obstacle 1. It's the subtle things like the rhythm of the vocals, the song leading on a bassline before quick, sharp riffs on the guitar come in.

I was the same, I loved the song but the title put me off...then I LISTENED to the words and maybe because I'm in that place I just totally got what it means. But, for years now, I can't seem to definitively tell if it's "three" or "free". I think of the love itself as the third entity because it seems to unify. There's light/storm, life/death(teeth marks of time), division/meeting, echoes/whispering, alone/togetherness(babe you stood by my side).

The moon typically represents death, change, or cycles whereas fire tends to be about life, passion, and rage. Windows to me, represent perception and having them open means the narrator has realised something. To me, I think the narrator's realised "no one can tell us what love brings..." hence, take the risk before death comes. Your angle ties up the loose end.
