>> In a personal point of view, my influences doesn't come from a musical background. When I'm outside the group, I'm not interested very much in listening to music. I really much better enjoy doing music than listening to.
For me, music in a mean of communication incontestably much more important than words. Music has a very strong vocabulary.
Bruford: Being an outsider, from another group (Yes), I can understand that King Crimson has a special way to live and do things. I accepted that and this is what I like with King Crimson.
- Where you influenced by modern american composers like Steve Reich and Terry Riley?
Fripp: For me, Reich and Riley were very important. Insy (?) too. >>
>> Fripp: As far as I agree with them, it's OK. But when I don't like them, I don't mind.
King Crimson has a particular way of doing things that transcend our different personalities.
I appreciate the publicity about the group except the ones who said I was the leader of King Crimson. May I say now that we are an entirely democratic group in which everyone has powers and influences that are absolutely shared. >>
>> Robert Fripp: I don't want to make the job of the critic. I'm a musician, and I'm interested not in talking about music, but in doing some. Bruford: Musicians have few good moments in life. One of them is to make music instead than to speak about it.
Lucky guys! You can now share this interview made by a French journalist. Here is an English translation.
- What is the main difference between the old and the new King Crimson, musically speaking?
Bill Bruford: Actually, there is three members of the group who didn't live the experience of the old King Crimson. The best is to ask the one who was with the group : Robert Fripp. >>
When I was a kid, like 17, I used to really admire Robert Fripp and kind of bought into his cult of personality. I saw his one of his Frippertronics shows in 1981, I think. He was at the top of his game back then, but I must have been awfully gullible, too. Although I still like some of his music a lot, and I appreciate his religious view of music and dedication to craft, I now see clearly how insufferable the man is, and always has been.
@dupaorangutana In that photograph, "Chuckles Fripp" is welcoming and addressing the audience from John Wetton's vocal microphone. He has walked over to the mic from his stool stage right after Exiles......Fripp-"gnosis" often did this in-between songs;.......not for every single show, mind you, but for most of them.....his mood at the time, place, and person determined whether or not he would engage with the "enthusiasts". :)
It's little wonder that Robert always maintained a distance from the three other band members, given the fact that they were always blowing smoke out their arses, er...I mean, mouths!
@brightsuperstition So you'd like an English translation of this French interview, would you? Awright...here it is: blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, pretentious rubbish, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, more pretentious rubbish, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, even more pretentious rubbish! Got that?
@ClitDoris I think YOU'RE the one who referred to the English Translation being pretentious rubbish, so I think you are the one with tiny mind and the the even smaller penis. So go and finger yourself and spend the day on your own, and I'll say again, CUNT. If you don't like what Robert Fripp and the band have to say FUCK OFF and if it seems pretentious to you then put on your Sex Pistols record Faggot. Have a Merry Christmas too!
@ClitDoris. And you're a typical person, woman, man, man- woman, bitch, thing that does not know what style is, what good music is, what intelligence is, how to be patient and how to listen. Stick to your fucking shite pop music and/ or your punk, Keep to your safe music. You Normal cunt.
very interesting! I can't ever understand why POP DEUX stopped using subtitles and just overdubbed the french guy's voice.....they had previously used subtitles occasionally

I don't understand why they used over dubs, it just ruins it for both french and english viewers. It's a lot more practical to just use subtitles.
