  • i really want this metal shop pack...i must buy it? or i can download it? thx

  • @MrNesteaPeachTV

you have to buy it at the Line6 official site, it's a firmware upgrade so it's the only way..

  • hmm. If you have pro tools. Try put some cab impulses on. Will make the sound fatter and wider,.

  • Holy fuck you are awful at finding a workable tone and mixing.

  • can you download metal shop addon on internet or you just have to buy it?

  • Excellent my friend great effort.. can you please send me the settings and the tab........... quality riff.

  • I like how you made this demo, thank you!

  • The best on youtube!!!!!!!!!! I have a podxt live and even if i tried and had not the same results i know i will coz axed show us it's possible!

  • Can you message me your settings for the powerball? I have an actual powerball back at home. Right now I'm in college and am picking up a pod xt live tonight so I can still play in my dorm without having to bring out a huge amp. Thanks my brother! Every clip sounds excellent!

  • @RAIDwarDEN

hi, check out your private messages

  • hey man beautiful sound can you send me your presets?

  • dude, can i get metalshop for free? HAHAH LOL

  • Do you have an Axe Fx of any model? If so comparable?

    Thanks for the video upload.

  • @DruidxSephiroth

I don't have it, it's too expensive. But everybody say it's not comparable. Nevertheless, I like my POD sound!

  • Did you change cabs or anything?

  • @DruidxSephiroth

no change! they all are pod xt cabs. I use mesa4x12, marshall4x12 v30, marshall4x12 75

  • The toneee! The toneee! That perfect toneee!

Tell me how you did it? :D

  • Hi, can you please tell me how can you have such a beautiful palm mute with the powerball? You have the presets sound?

  • @SurvivorOfAbortion

hey dude, check your mail! you have a private message

  • @Axed75 thank you so much man :)

  • Bogner and engl sound best !

  • hey, could you share the presets via private msg?

  • Why guitarists never talk about the cable they uses when making demo videos? You can have the best amp and the best guitar - if you have a "yellow cable" it will sound like a beginner.

  • haha Marshall sucks! i'm not surprised.

  • Fuck yeah, i love this riff, epic! Best Demo ever!

If you also have Pod Farm 2 it would be great to do the same with the Amps from the metal addon. (Please with the same Riff :D)

  • Fuck yeah, i love this riff, epic! Best Demo ever!

  • is this a riff from a song or did you come up with it its really cool

  • @robbie4629

sorry, not my job, I've heard that on the net.. :)

  • Hey are these presets available anywhere? I'm having some trouble getting descent sound out of metal shop. By the way Great video!

  • bro, your so good at the tones, can i have your high gain amp tones for pod xt please?

that thing is so hard to get a good tone, your pretty good man mad skills props to a true champ

  • I can wager money if you gave someone your account information to someone you trust with say another XT and the serial number on the pod you can get every model pack on these.

guessing you'd have to deactivate the computer and pod with a deactivation pending but still this came out in 2003 didn't it , someone has to have figured it out.

  • Fantastic vid my friend! And i just bought metal shop : D Would you mind sending me the patches or settings as well?

  • Is there any possibility, you can share Metal Shop?

  • @TheMusicRain

no, it's not possible, it's firmware not software

  • Superb video. Really helpful. Is there any chance you could share the presets you used, or at least the settings?

  • @sunlightd

    check your youtube mail

  • very cold sound. Sound like ONE amp with different EQ. Bad.

  • ENGL Powerball Own rest of this amps ;P

  • Awesome demo man. Oone of the best POD ones on youtube

  • The Engl sounds epic. The Bogner is pretty good too.

  • I just bought a used podxt. Can anyone tell me how to disable the air feature so I can plug in to a guitar amp?

  • @benthemiester

Press the Tune/System button and turn the Select knob clockwise until the display asks,

“What are you connecting to?” the nselect COMBO FRONT, COMBO PWRAMP, STACK FRONT & STACK PWRAMP, depending on your system. Check manual at 3-9

  • I'd rather save my money for a real amp. And if I would get something like this I would get POD HD

  • ???? 5,720 Patchs Line6 POD 2.0 L6T POD xt RAR FILE DOWNLOAD

search in ebay paradisses User!!! ????

    web --- > myworld.ebay.es/paradisses/

  • how does this metalshop works? buy it online, download, connect via usb, and click install ? so this models will reside in the hardware?

  • Great Job man! The way you play make me love all the amps of the world! :)

  • Yo question. if buy a pod xt hook it up with my laptop via usb and buy the metal packs will it sound exactly like this? (almost exactly differences accounted for by different guitar..)

  • Cool video and cool playing man. Very vibey. The kind of one can´t help but to tap along or move the head a bit :)

    Congrats. Rock ON!

  • How can u use the Metal shop pack with the X3? From line 6's website the x3 is not on the list over units that are compabitle with the metal shop pack?

  • @cloudoni the x3 already has the metal shop amps!

  • @cloudoni Also, he's using a pod XT, not X3

  • i heard a powerball live

it doesn't sound a bit like engl

but i like the demo very much

    thumps up!

  • Great demo, its a shame the pod doesnt sound anything like the real deal. Would really make recording faster!

  • That's the greatest demo i've seen for the PodXT. I think i'll mostly search for the right high-gain sounds to add a bit of sound to my spider IV which comes with two high-gain channels .. and i hate the one, so i only use the insane-channel.

Best thing is you used always the same riff. That's what i hate about other demos. The same riff makes it easier to compare the amps...

By the way: You know you can record per USB, don't you?

  • @CentaXBerlin2

thanks man! glad it was useful!

yep, I know of USB recording, at that time I had problem with my USB ports on the PC ...

  • @Axed75

IMO, the XT sound best through line In.. USB makes it more digitaly and harsh..

  • Which tube head would you suggest from metal?

  • @JohnTheodo

    Engl, Peavy, or Bogner, imho

  • @Axed75 Mesa/Boggie, Krank, Randall

  • hey guy, do you use any equalizer on your computer? because i have one Floor POD Plus and i can't get any sound like your, with treeble, presence and hot sound.

  • @acasadasseiscordas

no post eq. Check out your messages!

  • JCM900 high gain . ROFL :D (i know, it's written high-gain on the panel . Had one for years , and it ain't high-gain even with high-gain 'buckers)

    but great demo anyway

  • YOUR DEMO ACTUALLY MAKES X3...TUBE AMPS...AND ALL OTHERS....SOUND LIKE SHIT ...AND WOLLA ...U RECORDED THROUGH AN XT ......LOVE U MAN ...LOVE U !...............PEOPLE HAVE ACTUALLY DELETED MY COMMENTS WHEN I REFER TO YOUR VIDEO AND HOW THEIR X3 GT10 AND EVEN AXE FX SOUND LIKE SHIT COMPARED TO YOURS!

  • AWSOME vid man, cheers, i needed someone to make one of these and you did it spot on!

  • hey dude great demo !

  • I liked the ENGL and JCM 900 the best.

  • models never sound that great...always either too sharp or muddy

  • Thanks a bunch for this great comparison! I'm looking into the POD studios, packs and everything at the moment. This showed real potential!

  • guy !!! this song is awesome !!!

  • In my opinion, Marshall Silver Jubilee was the best in this test followed immediately by the JCM

  • would you mind sending me the patches for ENGL Powerball, MESA/Boogie Rectifier and Peavey 5150?

  • Great video! Now, you should do a video with all these amp models in combination with cabinet impulses.

  • @JimmyKGuitar Agreed, the Line 6 amp sims really shine when used with some good impulses.

  • AWESOME ! Could you PLEASE provide the exact settings for the 5150 sound ?

  • Hey, I saw this band Black Pajent that used 5150s and I'd like to know if I can get a similar tone with a POD. Just look 'em up on MySpace and listen to their song '"The End" to really hear their tone. Thanks.

  • Hey Bud* this is one of the best comparison videos I've seen in a loooong time, and trust me I've seen seen hundreds, no nonsense and straight to the point of the vid! Lets all help Axed 75 get past the 10,000 views mark^. Thanks *!*

  • @Raycing

    hey, thanks man!

  • @Raycing Totally Agree! It seems some people only do reviews to hear themselves talking on camera. This is how it's done though!

  • I've had the XT Live for about 4-5 years now, and for playing Metal, the best amps for me are the Bogner Uberschall & the Marshall JMP1. Actually, the JMP1 over the past couple of weeks has become my favorite for it's tightness and lack of any real "fizz." Amazing note definition, clarity & palm muting sounds so focused. All in all, after all these years, I'm still very pleased with the purchase. The Marshall Plexi amps are nice too, as is the Deizel. For clean, I always use the Roland JC.

  • @painfulloss

I agree, but I would add to your list of favourite models the Soldano SOLO100, I think it's one of the best model of POD XT. I didn't put that in this demo because it doesn't belong to the metal shop pack, but imho it's AWESOME!

  • @Axed75

Wow, you beat me to the punch! Watched a video a couple of nights ago with a guy getting Vai tones on his X3; since the units are similar, I did some tweaking with the SOLO100 & got an incredible tone, possibly even better than the Bogner. With my old POD 2.2, the Soldano was by far the best amp in the bunch, but it was a struggle getting a similar tone with the XT Live. The tone is the best I've ever had in 19 years. Good call, Axed75!!

  • Great demo. What did you use to make the drum track?

  • @meatballhero420

just a free drum loop I found on the net

  • @neverforgotrock I did have the toneport gx for like 2 years almost and I remember it not being bad at all with the gearbox plugin (I especially remember how little cpu power it used as well, compared to guitar rig etc) . I JUST ordered an X3 bean and I'm hoping it sounds nothing like the generic line 6 flabby gain sounds I hear on youtube.demos. I swear if I hear another demo of that marshall with a flanger/chorus or whatever I'm gonna scream. Im sure you know the sound Im talking about lol

  • @neverforgotrock Same here actually, its a pretty decent representation of the real thing It even has that clanky response real Bogners have. I wish they put a Shiva in one of the packs, that and the Ecstasy are my faves. Line 6 seems to do a good job of pulling the tones from the real amps and packing them into their software.

  • You should've eq'd away some fizz from the jcm model, I don't think you made it any justice with this vid because it's a really great amp model (like most other Marshall models by Line 6). The rest sounded pretty tight.

  • the 5150 is pwnage.

  • did you have all the EQs and drives the same etc?

if not, what did you use for the mesa and the silver jubilee?

least favourite was the JCM 900

  • when you buy the metal pack, can you download it right away? how does it work?

  • @Erithlon it's not like downloading a program and install it; you pay for it, and you update the firmware in your podxt through the USB cable (all automatic, very easy).

  • Jubilee wins, IMO

    great vid

  • JCM 900 is very surprising! =]

  • Triple Rectifier, ENGL and the Jubilee sounded the best to me.

  • howd u record this.? im buying the pod with metal shop.

  • @advaitrao94 it's all written in the video description: through pod line-out into sound blaster line-in

  • GREAT WORK. thank you. this is what the line6 guys who want to sell this stuff should have uploaded anyway ! thank you.

  • @neverforgotrock

Indeed, Bogner is one of my favourite model. It's very smooth and thin at the same time. I like the Engl and Triple recto as well (not so much the dual recto).

  • I have the metal shop pack for my XT but can't seem to get the smooth tones you've got here. Everything is really fizzy...

Any chance of giving a rough idea of the settings you're using EQ-wise and whatnot? Or the patches? I especially like the ENGL and Triple Rectifier.

  • @MetalGnomes

in general, first: turn down the drive! trust me! think that in the Engl and Bogner it's around 2.5! just the Mesa triple needs 7, a little bit more; param. EQ: put the freq to 9.3khz and its gain to -6 db (that lows the fizz); Then: treb=7, pres=6 (in general not to high treb or pres), and low the bass a little. That's it! if you need a thinner sound add a blu compressor, or (stronger) a red comp. Good luck!

  • @Axed75

I just tried it out last night, not too bad at all! Not *exactly* where I want to be but definitely closer than I was! Thanks!

  • @Axed75

  • This sounds like the same algoritm just with different eq settings. Its the same with all digital distortion. Not even close to the real deal... But it sounds ok:)

  • @krusch75

I don't think so, for instance the engl or peavy models are very thin, while the two marshall are fat, and the diezel is an half way.

Some time ago I thought just as you, that the real deal was different, untill I went into a registration studio and heard a microfoned mesa (that was in another insonorized room) through the studio monitors: it was just like the POD XT directly plugged into the mixer. Obviously IMHO :)

  • @krusch75 If you can't hear the difference then I don't really know what to say. I can certainly hear all the different nuances in all the models. The fact that they're put back to back like this definitely makes the differences even more apparent.

People can bash digital (even more so the POD series) but they're certainly excellent tools for the home recording setup without having to own thousands of dollars in boutique amps.

  • great vid!

  • awesome... I want that update for my PODxt... can you tell me what guitar are you playing? what kind of pickups are you using? are you playing with direct line to your PC?

  • @saldarriagavelasco

it's all written in the description, on the right bar ;)

the pick-up is a Seymour Duncan Invader.

  • The JCM 900 patch doesnt sound a thing like my real JCM 900.

  • I have XT Live, love it. What a great way to compare the sounds. Your video is excellent dude, I'm gonna watch'em all

  • @shovelthumbs78

    thanks!

  • awesome review!!!! are these worth the 50 bucks?

  • @nitrox7312

I got to laugh..are they worth 50 bucks?...did you just actually ask that. People will blow 50 bucks in one night on food.

  • yeah one time me and my friends had the mucnhies and we bought 25 spicy chickens from mcdonalds dollar menu

  • @nitrox7312

thanks! IMHO the metal shop does worth 50 bucks!

  • @nitrox7312

    yeah, 50 bucks :)

  • have you find the model packs in order to send me??thanks

  • @meliyalvaro

you have a private message, check it out!

  • You can not do that. You need a key and conn to there site to put them on or pc or pod. You can not just install them.

  • Never seen a better review.

  • thanks!

  • hahah the ubershcall, for instance...

  • good tastes, these fpussy ass idiots dont know shit about real amp sounds

  • hey good tones...there are any way to send me that patches or the model packs to install in my pod xt?

  • I'll look for them soon, maybe I can still find them, and then contact you

  • imho the best metal amp heads is kerry kings signature marshall jcm 800 or kirk hammets signature randall head

  • Im guessing you are using amd model + screamer distortion or something??? can you give me your settings??

  • All amp models are without additional stomp boxes, except the British Silver and the JCM 900 with a touch of Blue Compressor, just to get the sound a little thinner.

All the amps drive settings are very low, from 3 to 5, that's very important. Too much gain makes the sound fake, imho.

  • Good job!

  • thank you a lot for posting this i was looking for something like this so i could know if buying metal shop its the right decition, and i think it is :D

  • To my ears, POD Xt sounds better than the Pod X3.

    Saludos desde Colombia

  • Do the models in the podX3 sound more real than in the podxt ? I have an xt but never tried an X3

  • Well, I don't have an X3, but I have read that it's really really close (if not equal) to XT, but it can handle two stereo tones at once, the voice, and has all the model packs by default. For me, it's enough my XT for sure.

  • My favourite is the ENGL :3, really versatile.

  • Really good video, finally found someone that has a good comparison of these different amp tones!

Think I'll buy the metal shop pack right now, it's half price at the moment....
