I remember when Valspeak made it's way to the east coast. I thought it was ridiculous. Everyone I knew was overusing like and overusing it out of context. We were in the Hudson Valley, not San Fernando! This is a beautiful caricature!
Well I've got an old friend of mine and she is completely and utterly barking bloody mad and the way she speaks is what is shown in this shot. though she's from Texas and has nothing to do with CA valley girls. CTate is amazing! Stunning!
Correction: It is a generalization of a one region of America. I'm assuming you've never been to America since a minute amount of teenage girls actually have this vernacular.
I laughed at the skit with much respect to Catherine Tate and the UK, but since you aren't cognizant of modern-day America, I suggest you do some research before generalizing my country.
Laugh at the humor, but don't assume the content is necessarily true.
thanx for the info. i honestly thought that you all spoke like that. such a relief to hear that i was wrong. will never watch the cath. tate's documentaries again.
so what if my name is Carmen Kaylynne? Why would you judge a person based on their name? No one goes around thinking you are a cannibal (and if you are more power to you). That just goes to show that you are a moron. Do you know every girl in the United States? NO! So do not say they all talk like that. I happen to live here, so I think I would know!
No. Actually she is impersonating Valley Girls, which are girls who live in California in the Valley...Like me. Lol. But yeah she did a really good impersonation!
bichoalder have you ever been to America? Because I'm really thinking you haven't.
Actually I'm American and like, do you like, see ME like, like talking like that? I mean like, NO you know? *smiles sweetly while wanting to bite your head off*
Actually, the majority of Americans do not act like this. I should know as I am a 17 year old American teenage girl. The only time you will ever see this stereo type is in movies and clips like this.
I, myself, do not say "like" after every other word. It's just a stereo type and there is no need to generalize the plurality of America.
I hear this nonsense everyday

do I really need to say any more? and most girls in america are like that. the stupid ones. but I suppose only idiotic guys talk to idiotic girls.
what can I say? nothing is quite as classy as the low rent white british girl that thinks she is puerto rican.
