  • Hello, i have a 3 months Golden Retriever and i am trying to train her for potty training but she does not want to listen at all. she takes out waste where ever she wants i even take her to the potty place and stay with her but she still likes to do inside.can you guide me what should i do? Thank you.

  • @AwaisTaimur it can take some time to potty train so be patient. It is important that puppy bladders are small and they have to go frequently so it's not uncommon for a puppy to not be able to hold their potty. Frequent trips to you potty area are a must. If the puppy doesn't use the area when given an opportunity don't give it freedom in the house crate training works really well. After being crated for a short while try again at the potty spot. always praise and reward for using the potty area

  • who do you puppy raise through? i'm just starting out and am trying to find a good program

  • @aenize4444 We raise for Guide Dogs for the Blind. They have a wonderful program for puppy raisers and students. Let me know if you have any more questions :)

  • I just noticed Ricki's a girl

  • I know this question doesn't come to what u show in the video ,but what breed of dogs are use for disable people in wheelchair ,or are the breeds the same as the one they use for blind people ? This welll be q great help thanks

  • @lonelyboy323 Mostly Labradors and Goldens are used. Ricki's father is a golden from Canine Companions for Independance and this school trains dogs for people in wheel chairs and other mobility disabilities.

  • I'm on my first puppy Newport, and I love watching these videos!!! I've had him for about 2 months, and he's doing great! Ricki is so adorable. Thanks for posting these videos! They are very helpful for first time raisers like me :)

  • woow awesome lab nice color i got a lab 2 and its puppy btw thnx 4 the potty tip

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. I am 14 and planning on getting my dog at the beginning of July. And potty training is one of my BIGGEST FEARS!!!! (B/C my dogs came potty trained) But yeah thank you so much for posting this video.

  • Hey there,

Great to see these videos... I'm on an international guide dog list recently discussing behaviours our working dogs have that should have been eliminated early on... bad puppy raisers are bad news but it is great to see how you *are* putting in hard yards from early age... I'll have one of your pups anyday... From Penny, Seeing Eye Dog Hermione (working) and Guide Dog Valkyrie (retired)

  • Thanks for all the kind words. I have been lucky enough to have 3 of my puppies graduate and become guides. Being a puppy is raiser is a lot more than a person that brings a cute puppy everywhere they go, we have put in a lot of hard work and it is great when we hear feed back from people who use these wonderful dogs. thanks again :)

  • Having raised three guide dog pups, I think it's great that you are spreading the word with these fun, yet educational videos. keep up the good work!

  • Thanks for being a fellow puppy raiser and the kind words :)

  • God Bless You!!! Thanks for all you do. Because of wonderful people like you, I'll will be getting a guide. I stumbled across your video last week when I was checking out the campus in Oregon. I leave March 14 for the Oregon campus.

  • Congrats on getting a guide dog! Is this your first one? I have never been to the Oregon campus, but I hear that it's very peaceful and beautiful.

  • Geez, she is growing so fast!!!

  • yeah...crazy

  • It is My first one. I'm so excited. I have 11 days before I leave. I have not always been blind. I have retinal cone dystrophy, and have been legally blind since 2005.

  • Well good luck and have a great time while you are there :)

  • When our dog was a pup we used socks as a toy. Bad idea! Now we can't leave socks out or she will bury them in the back yard!

  • You gave some really good tips in this video. I loved the toy training.

  • Can I haz sleepy little puppiez?

  • What age is the best to take puppies from their mother? Just wondering. :)

  • the guide dog organization we work with takes them away from their mother anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks or so

  • I love the idea of teaching us all about training GUIDE Dogs

    Thanks Amie.

What a speciaist you are with dogs..

  • soon you won't be able to lift her off the ground.

  • Thank you for answering my question! Everything you mentioned 'not' to do, we've been doing LOL

Time to start doing it correctly.

    Thanks again!

  • Man, I wish I had a dog like Ricki.

  • me too!

  • wow every 20 mns, you must have some patience!!!

  • Ricki is Cool

  • These videos are really helpful. Ricki is growing up fast, huh?
