Relatively new ham and I also operate a mobile FT857 station. Yet to work a station outside Europe/W.Russia on 20mtr so I think I might have to try a different time schedule. Hope to work you on the next 2mtr activity contest, cheers

Nice job. After viewing your video I convinced myselft to get a new FT857...it's incredible what it is offer for the price (about 590 Eur here in Italy). P.S. Did you use the car's battery or a dedicated battery?

I run the radio direct from the Vehicle Battery Operating with the engine running.

Ft 857 is a good mobile radio no probs with mine at all first call to most things and with the 857 and maldol paired together were winning everytime boss.

Hi mark, the little Maldol works very well indeed with my 3 ton ground plane! I often work good DX early in the morning, the past week I worked - Japan, Jamaica, Thailand and Algiers as well as State side from the Mobile set up. Hope to hear you on soon.
