  • My friend Ed said that a truck went in the woods to get all the bodies, and it smelled so bad. And, one of his friends lived a mile from the crash site.

  • Comment removed

  • My mom worked on this plane right before it went out. She will never forget the crash, We live in Pittsburgh and I remember I was watched by my aunt because I was a small child at the time and she went to the crash site. The very next day she went to work the FAA was tearing her office apart.

  • @Lancelot13JasperHale

I still flew to California after watching this. Also, I flew on a bowing 737 and it was fun. I'm allways going to fly where evere I go.

  • @patconsult

    I'm sorry about your friend.

  • lol how many times did he say shoot

  • @airplanekid77 he is replaced shit with shoot

  • WATCH THE CANOPY!

  • yes both pilots say !!!!!!!!!SHOOT the actor who play cpt germano was in the series ready or not who plays busy dad

  • hahahaha OH SHOOT. Worst acting I've ever seen in one of these shows haha.

  • it doesnt help that i am watching this when i am flying next week...fml

  • 132 People died on that plane that day, including my friend.

This is not a topic for entertainment.

  • i remember when this happen my aunt was a fleight attened at the time and her sons were with my mom and i and we were all so scared because she was suposed to be coming back to pittisburg that day but missed that flight

  • you copied this from Air Crash Investigation! :(

  • A friend worked with a girl on this flight. She'd left a voice mail from Chicago reg work. He found it when he got to the office the next day.

  • Having flight surface problems? I feel bad for you son. I've got 99 problems, but an uncommanded rudder deflection ain't one.

  • I bet that guy really said "shoot"

  • @ajworthington84 More like shit shit fuck, om my fucking god, what the fuck is wrong with this worthless piece of fucking shit.

  • I don't think they said "Shoot" I think the said the F word in really life.....?

  • UAL 585, USA 427 and EWAL 519 it took 3 planes and two fatal ones to find it out the NTSB were useless they could have done better with 585

  • @TheHillbillyHermitt1 - Did you ever read up on this accident? Just how impossibly difficult it was to detect what was wrong? The NTSB guys put an incredible amount of energy into solving this. If anything it was Boeing, supported mostly by the FAA, who kept insisting pilot error was a factor. The NTSB, ALPA, and even USAirways all pointed at the PCU. But it was months after this crash even that change was made.

  • What do they mean by a bio hazard???

  • @TidalSnow1 - The people got so mutilated the amount of body chunks made it easy to catch any bio-germs

  • the cause of this accident was a rudder "blowdown" full rudder deflection, caused by the servo valve located in the rudder. nothing could have saved them they weren't trained for this at the time

  • Smart don, the aircraft fell into a jet wash, now a jet wash Is a vortex that spins like a tornado horizontally to the left from the exhaust of the engine. The US Air Jet flew into this jet wash and spiraled to the left, according to the NTSB the pilots attempted to turn right to counter the jet wash, that is human instinct. However to get out of a jet-wash you would want to turn with it until your aircraft descends below the jet-wash.

  • @AOPAPilotDaniel - Turbulance didn't play a role. The servo valve on the 737 in the 1990's were faulty and could jam in freezing air and super-heated hydrolics. Here, the servo valve jam in the opposite direction (hard-over). The pilots tried moving it to the right, but since the rudder movement reversed, the rudder kept going more and more to the left, making the situation worse.

  • us air not us airwys

  • @mileyfan5448 same airline

  • @robg5555 sorry! :|

  • @robg5555 I´m sorry ;-)

  • ok...How is this explained ? A turbulence from the jet ahead and it messed up ur jet so much...I mean there's gotta be some God Damn explanation to this !

  • famous last words, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Jetwash.

  • A family friend of ours was on this flight...thankfully she was on it the day prior! She flew home to Pitt. to visit her mom on her birthday 9/7. If her mom was born 24 hrs later our friend would not be with us today. We cherish her and remind her every day how wonderful she is.

  • @Maatje97 well, let me tell u that scare bus kills people, side stick and, fully glass cockpit and,so and so,u can't even over ride the plane in emerjency, why?very simple the system in the plane won't allow u,look at the latest A321 that crash in pakistan killing all the passangers and, crew of six and,it has nothing 2 do cause i am American and,may god bless the victims of the crash!

  • @Maatje97 well, guess what crash couple days ago?

    A321,as well A300 of yemenia a while ago and,Air France A330!

  • @Maatje97 u meant scare bus, there r more Air bus crashes than Boeing silly!

well,if it is not Boeing,i am not going and,may god bless all the victims!

  • well,my question is why plane manufactures put a guard on auto pilot so that, the crew will not bumped it by accident, just like what happen on EASTERN flight 411,i am not shre as well ,the Aeroflot that, the stupid Capt allowed his son 2 fly the plane which, caused, bumped autopilot which, killed everyone!

  • According to the NTSB investigation, the loss of aircraft control was caused by a rudder malfunction. The early 737s had some rudder issues, and Boeing later went back and corrected the rudder control units on the 737s.

  • What happend?

    Kind of wake turbulence?

  • I remember this happened back when I was 11 years old living in the Pittsburgh area . Still very sad to think about just looking at the pictures of the aftermath.

  • @Maatje97 this was an really old Boeing 737-200

  • @RickMakesGoodVideos its a -300

  • "Shoot"? C'mon.

"Oh shoot - we're in sudden nose-down pitch attitude at 400 knots. Dang it."

I guess they have to sanitize these things to protect everyone's sensitive virgin ears but that just sounds ridiculous.

  • I wouldn't fly on the old 200 series unless it was operated by Southwest airline, because they had better luck with theire 737 200 series.

  • its fucked up living not even 10 miles from this. I still drive past the hill this plane crashed on.

  • Okay, so it's been a few years since this video was posted. But I can't resist this.

It's "loses" (pronounced "looziz"), NOT "looses" (pronounced "loosiz").

I am so tired of this embarrassingly-prevalent misspelling by those for whom English is a first language.

FINALLY! I got that out of my system. For now.

    No offense.

  • This True?

  • Are the words of the crew accurately reinacted ?

  • @hermankatnip He said "shit" in real life instead of "shoot" like in this video, but otherwise it's pretty much the same.

  • "In all four planes, none of the planes ever switched on their transponder to the hijack code. There's a very, very simple code that you put in if you suspect that your plane is being hijacked. It takes literally just a split-second to put your hand down on the center console and flip it over. Not one of the four planes on 9/11 ever transponded a hijack code, which is most, most unusual."

-Commander Ted Muga, U.S. Navy (ret)

  • Happening near Pittsburgh, where I live, I remember watching everything I could when this happened, as it happened. People telling graphic accounts of what they witnessed and all the other details. I was 12 at the time and have been fascinated with plane crashes ever since. I finally found the road that takes you to the crash site but did not travel it due to it being private property which sucks. I want to go at night to see if it's haunted which I've heard stories of it being so.

  • That was sad my mom is an EMS that reported to this.

  • My condolonces goes out to everyone's family and friends who passed away on that flight RIP!!

  • RIP Brian A. Nugent (my father in law), and all other occupants on flight 427. Gone but never forgotton.

  • R.I.P

to all who lost their lives on this plane :(

they didnt deserve to die, it just happened :(

  • UA585 on the documentary looked like the crash that could have been recoverable dont u think? but USAir 427 looked like a violent drop from the sky that could have not been recovered

  • When I always look at the attitude of an aircraft falling i always think *Plane nose down* Me "holy shit at that kind of angle, ur gonna kill everyone like that instantly!!! *plane nose up and stalls* "dude ur gonna crash and explode just like Vladivostok flight 592"

  • I am a US AIrwys F/A based in PHL, this changed my life now stop being jerks...it still hurts.....TRY all u losers to be kind...it is not all that hard...OH cannot wait for this response

  • R.I.P to those lost in this flight.

  • This happened right by my house. If they had stayed on their flight path for 15 more seconds, they would have crashed in my backyard. I saw the whole thing happen, cause I was waiting for my parents outside. I was only 6 years old but I still remember it like it was yesterday. RIP for all those people.

  • @tiffdev

Aw, it must have been horrible for you.

  • Fail, a 737 is 3 on 3, not 2 on 3 on 2

  • Comment removed

  • @EGIPredator

Sorry, the comment was for rufusandburne.

  • a bit of wind & the pilot lost it...lol

  • @rufusandburne

It was a rudder malfunction. Just like your brain

  • lol....you loser!

  • This is sooo sad...I was only 2 years old when this happened so I didn't know about it at the time it happened. How awful that those people were all alive during the whole process and experienced such terror. I was horrified to hear that there were children on board too. This is why I'm terrified of flying. I know it's the safest mode of transportation, but even the tiniest chance of something like this happening is enough to keep me off planes unless I really have to get on one.

  • The Boeing 737 is the most produced aircraft in history, with over 1200 produced. every 5 seconds a 737 is landing somewhere while another is taking off. A truly great aircraft with an excellent safety record. the investigation into this crash led to the development of a better rudder control valve. if even 1 crash was prevented by this then those who died did not die in vain.

  • I am sure Boeing got sued out of their anus for both these flights. I am hoping that these greedy American corporate companies start focusing on safety and quality instead of profits...profits...profits...

  • This was caused by a flaw in the design of the 737 rudder hydraulics. It caused another crash, and still another violent incident where the pilots managed to land safely. It happened when the hydraulic valve in the tail was very cold, but the hydraulic fluid itself was very hot. It would cause the rudder to hard-over and also reverse the control pads, so if the pilot stepped on the pad he would normally use to roll right, the plane would roll left. It has since been corrected in all 737s.

  • This is caused by "well i dont know the name.." and it was heated up so it will turns the flight of the plane if its cold your plane will just fly, but that was the thing to steer and i think the pilot was going to steer right but with that heated thingy, the plane turned left just like it was rolling.

    Tragic!

  • It's hard to believe that this tragedy happened exactly 15 years ago today. My condolences to those who lost a loved one on US Air Flight 427. May they all rest in peace.

  • thank you, eagle31969.

  • soooo tango your syaing your rather suffer than just die? your childhood mustve gone bad

  • I know someone who was on this flight. Its hard seeing something like this, but at the same time you watch it because you feel it may bring you some strange sort of closure. It has been YEARS since this tragedy and I don't know if there ever can be closure with something like this. You can't help but feel for those people on the flight, and how they spent the last seconds of their lives... they are in a better place now, but the reality of it is that its hard to come to terms with.

  • God just like that & your DEAD!

  • "I see ze jet stream" anybody else catch that?

  • @Efizzle100 If you read some of the transcripts, it is how he said it. Usually noted as "mock French accent"

  • @Efizzle100 hilar!

  • I wonder how the plain lost control?

  • sorry man

  • rudder jammed. bitch, mega bitch and those people on that flight have my respect. but, so you are gonna go then slam into the earth at 300 mph. dying of cancer for years is worse.

  • each person knew what was happening, my uncle was aboard, the plane didnt twist and drop as fast as said. it was slower and even the flight attendant screamed. the audio is chopped to hell but read the flight reports they are chilling

  • Sorry about your loss :( RIP

  • No,dying of cancer for years is better then dying on airplane that fall from the sky all of the sudden.

  • i have to return to zurich to my family in one month...i am so scared now.....

  • I think I'll swim to Japan now.

  • us and united looks like a connection to the crashes

  • drink driving must have been!

  • epic fail...

  • my uncle was on that flight

  • sad...

  • Aww man sorry that must suck

  • omg...i feel so sorry dude

  • sorry to hear that man

  • I wonder if they should have avoided the jetstream. Or is that normal procedure to fly through one?

  • Then by all means, lets go. But if you continue your complainming, and contradictory arguments, then it won't happen. The liberation and moderniztion of Africa cannot be feasibly completed by one country, even if it is the US.

  • which would most assuredly involve conflict and further deaths. I am not agianst going into Africa and solving many of their problems. But when the rest of the modern world complains about what we are doing in one place and then tell us to do another, it gets extremely old. This would be a monumental task involving lots of $ and resources. To accomplish the task we would need the help of the entire world. So i f the rest of you can step up to the plate instead o f being backseat drivers (contd.)

  • I went to the memorial for this flight (I lived very close nearby), and the fire chief who worked at the scene told an amazing story: Exactly a week later, at 6:05 PM, he looked up from where he was working on the site to see a rainbow overhead. Curious, he drove down from the hillside to the nearby shopping center and found that the rainbow was situated directly over the crash site, right at the same time of day as the crash had been a week before. He was in tears as he told us this story.

  • This happend because with the right circumstances the fuel and the tail adjuster thing, can cause the tail to work strange, hot fuel and cold equipment.

They did a test which they do in the military and they checked how it reacts with hot fuel and cold equipment, suprisingly they noticed the tail worked opposite as it was supposed.

  • when you grew up with a friend that was on that flight your heart can only mourn>

Goodbye timmy may never be forgot

  • Lmfao

  • crap american planes flown by cowboys....

  • its a 737 200 series which they crash, so I guess that U.S. got tied of boeing product so there now going with Airbus instead because its safer than boeing

  • I like the music played when the plane start to begin out of control.

  • Me to its well cool it starts at 1:10

  • when did this happen?

  • USAir flight 427 crashed on 9/08/94.....I`ve read extensively on this crash because my father flies the Boeing 737. It was horrible, because when the plane started to nosedive, in which they had 6,000 feet of turning and diving at over 300 MPH, the g-forces on the passengers was tremendous. They would have been throwing up, hardly able to breathe but still concsious when the cripled jet impacted the ground at 350 MPH. There were no whole bodies left, only small parts. they were obliterated. Sad

  • A whole family of five died on USAir flight 427, the youngest member was a girl of only 11 years old. Ironically, they were returning from a funeral, the mother`s sister had died. It`s very hard to imagine the horror those people felt, and the tremendous violence of impact. I`m sure those seconds seemed like hours. the rudders on ALL 737`s have been redesigned.

  • Actually, the 11 year old girl had a 7 year old brother who was also on the flight, so he was the youngest :( so sad

  • Too many airplanes in the air... We should be investing in more high speed rail travel.

  • Flying is the safest way to travel.

  • That works well between continents, idiot.

  • what?

  • Fuck all conspiracy theories about 9/11. It's not a conspiracy. It isn't some terrible secret that your mind naturally wants to get all dramatic enough.

If anyone even thinks to argue,

YOU-ARE-NOT-THAT-SMART. You're just one of the stupid drones on this site who can't type or spell to save your life that just wants to make a crisis out of everything.

Thousands of people DIED, and people really give a shit about stupid theories?

  • The twin towers were designed to survive a plane crash.

Saying people that do not agree with you are dumb is a bad attitude.

It is Estimated that 14 million people died of AIDS since 2000 in Africa alone. I am sorry but the 2974 people that died in the towers is minuscule and trivial. Go on and wave your little American flags and turn a blind eye to bigger problems and the rest of the world that needs to live here too.

  • the AIDS deaths weren't murder, secondly all innocent death is sad.

  • Napalm let me give you an example, what is worse an innocent baby dying from a murder. Or 30 people killing themselves. The baby, because the baby was innocent and did not want it to happen. In comparision to plane crashes compared to people who knowling have sex and aquire AIDS. People who are born with the disease is a much more tragic story.

  • That is bull shit. People don't chose where they end up. Every one is capable of evil if put in a situation that demands it. Saying that baby is innocent is denying its humanity. Baby's are not humans they can not think or feel emotional pain. They have a lesser mental awareness then a dog. Dogs can feel lonely, betrayed, loyalty even the companionship of love. It is quite obvious you will misinterpret this because i only get, 500 letters to express it. Baby < Dog. Dog = more then you think. ok?

  • Are dogs humanized? If i throw a dog and baby of a cliff, Which one would you catch? Which one would i get more in trouble for?

  • What age is the dog? If the dog's metal awareness is higher then the child, the dog. (You would get in more trouble for the baby obviously, that is a social thing, I do not need to agree with that.) I have more then one reason. I think putting majority of animals out of there misery is wrong. Mammals and even reptiles / birds have a stronger need to live that is not just instinct. Humans do not reaches this till later in there life, if the baby survives it can be "put down", I think ...(no room)

  • Napalm, it is evident that your value of life is most definitley askew. If you would hesitate to catch the baby, you do not posess the required skills to function at a normal and decent level here on the plane tearth. Humans are one of your fellow species. If you believe that a dog is more worthy to live than a baby your mind has not progressed as it should Review Kohlberg's Stages of Moral Development. A baby will accomplish much more on Earth than a dog. Also, please get a psych. eval! No joke

  • Points for randomly talking with out looking at the background information of my conversation with SOME ONE ELSE go to migkiller001? Sorry about my bitchy tone but if you had seen my previous comments you would of realized that was not my point at all. I have never needed to chose between the life of a baby and a dog, I have NO FUCKING IDEA what I would do. My motive was to get you to question what your morals are and where they came from. I am leaving another comment read it if you want.

  • The person I was replaying to said, "Napalm let me give you an example, what is worse an innocent baby dying from a murder. Or 30 people killing themselves. The baby" I happen to think that is bull shit. People don't chose to be born in a bad situation, did you know that most pedophiles where abused as children? Being abused makes you more likely to abuse others! Is it there fault they where born into that kind of environment? You should read all of what I said and then comment back on this.

  • I apologize for not reading further into the conversation. I replied so impulsively after viewing the comment in whcih it seemed hat you valued a dog over a baby. I believed there was no need ot go further, My mistake. I have not read the rest of your conversation, but in response to the 30 ppl to 1 baby, i would agree with you. 30 people commiting suicide is more of an atrocity even though a baby being murdered is just as bad. Let me read the rest of the argument and then I wll comment.

  • Napalm, I still apologize for my quick commenting approach. But when it comes to your comment on 9/11 i believe you are deeply wrong. When it comes to a death, you can't generalize...as you have done. It is tragic that 14 million have died, and it is tragic that 2974+ died. In response to 9/11 we began a war on terror. In response to our war, there was an uproar. The rest of the world pisses and moans about us meddling in other countries affairs! So to tell us to now go into Africa, (contd.)

  • Oh please, we can't fix Africa. We can't even fix our own country. Large companies make billions off a war and we don't have national health care? Come on you are talking about the second to last country on a list of 34 of western countries in 2005 that accept evolution. 40% of americans paid attention in high school, 10% aren't sure because there idiots and 40% are insane and think that world is a few thousand years old. Other countries should be helping us!

  • Obviously we cant fix Africa...and I am NOT going to get into it with you over Religion etc...

  • I never said any thing about religion. And that is the problem. It's about common FUCKING SENSE. If you do you accept reality you are of no fucking use, and the only thing your existence accomplishes is bringing others down, e.g. Global warming.

  • Yes you did, and what may I ask have you done to ease other's troubles here on Earth? Don't be so accusatroy if you have accomplished so little yourself...

  • Great post infinitextimes

  • Now, compare crash debris with that of United flight 93.

Big difference and I am convinced the plane was shot down at altitude which explains why debris would be spread over a "three to four mile radius".

  • today a us airways flight crashed in the hudson river, nyc. i live like 20 minutes away..scary

  • I lived in Aliquippa when this happened. I was in 2nd grade and in my back yard playing when the plane went right over my head. I was only about 2 miles from the point of the crash. It was a terrible thing to see. Many people lost their lives in the accident. It was terrible: the sound, the smell, the whole thing. I can't even imagine what people were feeling when it happened.

  • I lived there too (I was 13 at the time); my mother and I were driving home from Robinson and would have been taking the exit curve around toward Green Garden Plaza but for some reason we drove home through Hopewell that day. I think I cried all night when I found out it had happened--our next-door neighbor was the police/FBI chaplain and he was really shaken up by ministering to the rescue workers on the scene. The memorial was beautiful, though.

  • Its a shame though, they don't keep up with that memorial along 60 because who ever owns that land won't sell that tiny little area

  • Yes it was a horrible tragedy. In the wake of this, all older model 737's (300,400,& 500 series) have been retrofitted to correct the rudder problem. The newer version 737's (700,800& 900 series) have a diferent rudder design. lisaandginger, don't hesitate to fly US Airways. They may not be my favorite airline, but rest assured they (and all US carriers)are among the safest in the world.

  • eating those words right now, huh?

  • Not at all. In fact, it adds to my faith in US carriers. The fact that all onboard today's US Airways accident survived goes to show the tremendous skill, training, and professionalism of the pilots and flight crew on that plane. And this accident (which involved an Airbus jet not a Boeing 737) appears to be the result of a double bird strike, which could have happened anywhere to any airline. Thank God for the incredible quick thinking and ability of that pilot.

  • You're right. I hadn't gotten the update on the story yet. I'm actually impressed with the way it was handled, especially to the fact that witnesses thought it was a controlled landing!

  • Our family wants to go on vacation for a week and my parents wants to take US airways and im scared lol. Should I go anyways?

  • yes wake turbelence is strong...

  • OMG this is what scares me to not want to fly im afraid something will go wrong we all do make mistakes sometimes.

  • What a horrible tragedy. No other words could express the trauma felt in their last seconds. May God look over their souls for eternity.

  • the first officer may have tried to correct the turbulance but what reallyhappend was this: as the plane in front of them released exaust which got sucked in the left engine making it shutoff so it went hard left then stalled and went straight down.

  • It was a rudder jam failure. A problem that caused 3 more accidents reported as a result of the FAA's investigation. Try searching "USAir Flight 427 accident" with google, and read the wiky article before post again.

  • Nope, from what I remember, it was a rudder failure when, under certain conditions, any inputs into the rudders would have a reverse effect. Basically, the pilots unknowingly crashed the plane.

  • I live in Pittsburgh and have a friend who was supposed to be on this flight but took a different one instead. Out of respect for the families of the victims, I don't really think it's cool to sensationalize this tragedy. We all know it had to have been hell on the passengers and crew in the final seconds before the crash, and I don't think anyone can ever begin to simulate that kind of fear, nor is it right to try.

  • ouch...i will panick if that happen to me

i would pause my flight simulator x if this happen...

  • what the hell?

  • I flew on a 73G this summer; how come 73Gs never had rudder problems?

  • 737NGs have more advanced flight control systems, and most 737 classics had their hydraulics checked out.

  • I got caught up in this investigation as a TCAS and radar data expert with the MITRE corporation. We determined that TCAS would not have issued a TA or RA, and that the aircraft appeared to be recovering when it struck the ground.

  • I live in Pittsburgh and remember when this happened. The medical helicopters kept going over our apartment right when it occurred; they still believed at that time that there might be lives to save, but there weren't. A good friend of mine almost was on this flight but didn't make it at the last minute.

  • This video is wrong for what happened. I saw another show on discovery on this same flight. They used what the black box said. This is what really happened; when they passed through the turbulance, the first officer used excessive amounts of rudder to correct it. when he did this, the nose kept going off the desired heading, so he would excessively correct the other way.

  • All this stress on the vertical stabilizer caused it to shear off giving no yaw control. Because of this, the nose wobbles to the left and right, losing altitude with every turn.

  • wow.

    i live in pittsburgh.

  • I read about this on Wikipedia. There were 132 fatalities.

  • me 2!

  • It must have been absolutely terrifying.

  • holy fuck this is going to ruin my sleep

  • What a nightmare.

  • The crash was caused by a rudder jam according to the program which this clip is taken from.

  • can any1 tell me wat channel this is on on dish and when its on?

  • its on Natgeo

  • My father Paul died on this flight. There are many differnt theories as to why it happend. I believe it crashed due to a rudder malfunction.

  • It was caused by:

    1. Rudder jam

    2. Rudder reversal

    3. Rudder hardover

    All below the "crossover airspeed."
