Hello Its great your on a path of sobriety. Im from Boston, MA. Ive been an (A+) client. Ive been on since 2-9-05 almost 5 yrs. I could have 14 take homes right now but I only have three. They came up w/ a new rule that if you are subscribed Benzodiazapines you can get any more take homes. I live 25 min to the closest clinic. IT SUCKS but thats life. Worrying about take homes should be one of the last things on your "recovery list" especially the first 2 yrs. Hope it works!

Also, ofcourse it's more complex than my initial comment-I was being a bit tongue in cheek-guess you didn't 'get' the 'haha'. In truth I have been on a wide variety of doses, I was estimating the average. Several times I reduced far too quickly under pressure of over-zealous doctors with the result that I ended up on a higher dose than before. Mostly though they haven't cared and some have been downright resistant. None seem to know what they're doing. And all love their regular Medicare checks.

Blind detoxing is they just dont write on your bottle what your getting so you dont get worried lower you go (a psychological thing) but if you wanna know or stop doing it this way they stop when ever you want. Like if im on say 100 and I just tell them start dropping me and dont tell me then the next day its like 90 then 95 then 80 so on so forth and then you might wanna know you say hey can you tell me what im on and they do.

I dont mean for them to do it if your urine is dirty. Everyone has different responses to this medication and what it does or the methods of getting off of it or being on it is all different. I have about a 20 min drive every morning to the clinic, it gets pretty expensive here too but what can you do right? Kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place. Im only on my 7th day right now but i will be getting carries in about 3 days. So i wont be having to drive across town everyday for much longer...hopefully anyway.

I've been on methadone for 5 years, started at 110 mil. for 4 yrs. In the last tear I've tappered slowly all the way down to 4 mil. So far I haven't had any withdrawls at all. Once your down so low it's primarily psychological. I think anyone can and should get off if they try.

I know the clinic i go to doesnt give carries until you piss clean for a few weeks and even then you have to maintain it. If they find anything in your urin you lose your carries.

hi well the rules at ours you get your takehomes after 90 days clean which is mon-wed-fri and you get after 2 yrs 1 day a wk BUT I was almost ready to get that and I had went to the hospital for broncitis and they gave me robitussin with codeine and I took some of it dropped dirty and then after 30 days they gave takehomes back so now I have to start all over again isnt that some shit..any suggestions what I should do? Actually i have only been in my program for 5 days but on my 10th day i will be getting carry homes because i work such irregular hours that i simply wouldnt be able to be on the program other wise. But i also dont have an extensive drug history, only opiates and pot. I was started on o.c for my arthritic pain and i eat them unlike other people that snort them. I know what you mean tho, it feels like they own you, the docs and nurses talk to you and act as if its just a black and white addiction

Yes, ask your clinic for a medical coordination sheet. It is usually just a one page sheet that your hospital or doctor's office fills out and fax's to your clinic. Federal Regulations dictate that your clinic provide you the oppurtunity to have this done.

you can go down 3 mils a day with no real problems down to 15 and then 3 every 3 days until you get to zero.durring this period you should take a few things to get your body ready for zero.1)cod liver oil pills,2)glucosamine pills,3)multi vitamens,4)calcium pills,5) green or a detox tea.after zero take tylenol or any other brand with 8mg of codien if needed for 1 to 7 days.You can do it.the hard part will be staying clean.you follow this, your detox will be easy.good luck

Your body will start to realize its a pattern of constantly going down.Its the same way when you started the methadone or what ever drug you do .You dont start at your maximum dose right away you gradual increase.This gets your body accustom to this . Just look at it as doing everything in reverse.When I was coming off I would tell myself that if someone was in hospital with injuries they would do it this way to get the person off what ever pain killer they were on.

You can quit ,trust me I did and I was using oxys and methadone at the same time. I was using alot.Set yourself goals such as telling yourself your going down every 3 or 4 days.Yes you will feel uncomfortable and you will have withdrawls,but take it day by day.Dont let your body get accustomed to feeling normal at a lower dose just keep going down.Make your body realize that no matter how shitty you feel your not stopping your going to go down at regular intervals and regular amounts.

I have to laugh (sadly) Because people think methadone is a step up from Heroin. Heroin is relatively easy to kick compared to methadone.Methadone is fat soluble and takes A REAL LONG time to kick Methadone.Ironically It was invented by the Nazi's. Just kick the dope!...There are ways to help kick this stuff. There's a video on youtube about kicking opiates using really high doses of vitamin C.

well not only that at the clinics they taper your dose and you dont know what your on also. They dont give you a bottle at my clinic unless you have takehomes. When you get a daily dose they put it in a little clear cup. They probably do it that way too but thats not the way Im talkin about. Other than the emotional numb, I was spiritually dead...for me I had to put it all down. blind reductions are where the pharmacist mixes methadone with a dilutant so you have a bottle that says 75 mls of methadone, when really you are taking 40 mls meth and 35 mls of a dilutant, it has nothing to do with scoring out the amount, subutex is way better, and has an antagonist so you can't use on top, but 30mls is the ideal level, good luck

Suboxone has Naloxone in it, an opiate antagonist, so it's a partial agonist.If you go too 'high' on the dose, you hit a ceiling level at which point you start to feel ill as the antagonist sets in. This is true for both, but when switching from Methadone,it's best to get Subutex, not Suboxone as that would make you extremely sick since it rushes the Methadone off of the receptors quickly. You have to get sick before the Sub will start to take effect, and it is not for everyone.

Another time I went to addiction detox center where they weaned me off of the pills and that took 6 days but I was forced to go there so as soon as I got out I started to use again. Then I heard about methadone well I seen my sister on it and brought me to consider it so here I am today on a 90mg daily does but I really do like it right now I don't have a problem with it but I guess until I do decide to have baby by the way I'm 22 years old.

don't get me wrong I had to work hard to get my carries I also have to go and get my urine tested every week if I have one dirty urine I'll get a carry taken away and so on. but the reason I'm on methadone was because I was addicted to oxycontin I would scrap the coding off and crush the pill up and snort it up. Trust me I went cold turkey once and that took 7 days for the hard withdrawals. I lasted 2 months and I went back using because I just couldn't handle the cravings.

If i were you i would switch to suboxone. i took methadone the last 8 years, then tapered down to 25mg & then had my switch day where i had to stay clean for 36hrs & then got my first 8mg Sub. After a week i started to taper down the Subs to now 1mg. And no ernourmous cravings or sickness. If you wanna get clean & stay clean Suboxone is the choice for you.

you are fine if you have insurance, without it 30 8mg pills is like $350. Every pharmacy will have suboxone, if they dont they can order it. I am still on it, but I hear people usually stay on it for about 6 months and taper down. I highly suggest doing some research on it and getting off the methadone. good luck!

I switched to suboxone from methadone. Was taking about 50-60mg methadone. I basically waited about 3 days until i felt like complete shit. Then switched to 16mg suboxone. One thing about sub, its very very expensive, do you have insurance?

We'll Im blessed right now to have insurance so I dont have the worry of paying but ya never know it might not last forever! Usually the ppl at my clinic pay 110.00 a wk and with takehomes its 95.00 so yes it is expensive with no insurance.
