Looks like a dissapointment for the 45 ! Too much fragmentation. it kind of defeats the purpose of a 45 ACP with a 165 gr bullet. I'd rather have a 200 gr +P Gold Dot or Hornady. The 230 +P's are good too. To tell ya the truth, you probably be better armed with hardball 230 gr than the 165 gr powerball ! I just can't see this round penetrating enough, where a 230 gr FMJ will hit the spine and drop an advasary.
I used these rounds on a wild bore @ 7yds pig weighed 150 lbs. Results from a shoulder shot where more then expected since it was a downwards angle with a diagonal shot the bullet travelled through the shoulder and ripped the guts out from the exit wound. Caused instant death. As for my buffalo bore 180 grain 357. Mag ... I will stick with the power ball. Also hornady cd. 40 did surprisingly well considering it was the cheapest of the ammo I've tried.
i heard a cop having a shootout with a crook hit the crook like 8 times witha .40 cal powerball out a glock 22... sorried round if you ask me... get a standard 230 grain jhp or some +p in lighter loads like 200grains... what's ur preference personally?
@12GaugeLosAngeles IMO this round would do great on small animals, but for social work I would carry a heavier weight load. I use Winchester Ranger-T Series 230 Gr. loads. Still it was an impressive performance with lots of energy from this one. Im just not sure how deep it would penetrate. We did a jug test with Pow'R Ball in 9mm and it made a mess of the first jug but it did not go as deep as some of the competitions loads. That test is posted somewhere in my videos FYI.
@andreleger2001 I think your right about the penitration. Doesn't look like it would do much if it hit bone. Seems like they are trying to get to fancy with their rounds.
@12GaugeLosAngeles you'd be surprised how many times people end up getting shot and continue to fight in alot of shootouts, even with high quality ammunition. im not claiming to be an expert, but i have heard alot stories from my time as a sheriff explorer.
@Ronald3570 u also dont know where the person was shot. 8 full body mass shots is alot but if 7 of them are in lower leg hands and other places like that they are realy just extremley painful or bleed out wounds.
@bobwatters most of the shots actually did hit center of mass in the stories. they were fatal wounds that couldnt be treated but they werent instantly fatal.
@12GaugeLosAngeles Not sure if these rounds are good or not ,but to be fair just because it took eight shots doesn't necessarily mean its bad. Were the shots placed well? If the shots were in vital areas then i'd say its not a stopper. I think sometimes we can be too fast to judge without knowing all the facts. Any ammo or caliber's effectiveness is mostly dependent on shot placement first.
@jtmoney606 YOUR TESTS DID NOT CONVINCE ME ON THEM ANY 45ACP AMMO WOULD OF BLOWN UP THE CANS & WATER JUGS ETC. I WILL STICK WITH MY FED. HTS AMMO THANKS FOR THE DEMO. ANYWAY.
What's the difference Between these and the glasers

@satchboogyfan the glaser has either #12 or #6 lead shot inside it.

Have you done a test on the 124gr 9mm speer gold dot HP?
windofthegods 1 year ago
@windofthegods We tested the +P version of the 124 Gr. Speer Gold Dot. Dig through the older tests and you will find it.

Looks like they put a swagged lead ball on top a modern bullet.

@Migs4000 The ball is some sort of polymer in this round.
