  • wait sonic adventure dx is the sonic adventure 1 for dreamcast and sonic adventure 2 battle is sonic adventure 2 for dreamcast 2?? wow while i was playing on gamecube i could of had it earlier than 2006????

  • 4:12 thumbs up if you saw NiGHTS

  • 3:07

I AM THE BEST AND YOU CAN NOT DO NOTHING ABOUT IT.

    - pedra pance, # 1

  • WAAAIIITTTT... Trade chao online... BADASS!

  • FUCKING CRAZY ddamm

  • How could it fail? such a fantastic system..(don't answer I am just exclaiming :-) )

  • Dreamcast was the best. I never got it connected to the internet though. Mine didn't come with the cable. I remember the hours I spent playing with that. Sadly it began to restart the system in the middle of the game until it never turned on again. I sended back to fix it but they never gave it back... This was in 2002...

  • It's a shame I got my Dreamcast after the demise... it came with an incredibly long phone cable too, just for that modem... and the PSO server was still around then, i think, but I had no idea... missed out on some fun there.

  • @KatieKalamity Same with me, my dreamcast came with a extremely long internet cable that you plug in the back of your console.

Anyway do you know if the internet still works somehow or not?

  • @gothicfan51 yep it still works, there are a few private online servers running a few games,,,

  • If they didn't kill the dreamcast so early, it could have been the best system of all time!

  • best console ever

  • NEW CHARACTERS! NEW SCENES! WHAT! THAT NEVER HAPPENED!!!!

  • Nintendo helped SEGA, Now SEGA is here to return the favor by kicking the PS3's ass. Microsoft is backing the up with the 360, but this is only the beginning.

  • @MrSonicroks Terrible statement. You do realize Sega has PS3 exclusives, right? Why would they wanna sabotage a console that they publish games on? They also have multiplatform titles. That's the smart thing to do business wise, seeing as they are no longer making hardware. And they're doing a fine job at it.

  • Its shame the DC had a short life,I remember trying to buy a DC when it was just out,I was unable to,only choice i had was to order a import but decided not to as it was way overpriced by greedy sellers (not the actual MSRP) How things change,I traded in 30+ complete boxed library of N64 games & a boxed N64 & all sorts of extras, all I got for it all was a PS1 with NO games,,looking back what a rip! If only I knew that a PS1 would be worth shit in 2011 but boxed Nintendo games would fly in value!

  • I've recently been playing the dreamcast

Too bad Sega shut down the internet or at least I think they did

    -05/31/11

  • @edsandsonicatolympic sega shut down the internet? how am I on youtube if theres no internet? lmao

I have my dc since 1998 and yes u can still browse on your Dreamcast and go to google etc with planet web and others..

You can still play some online games that still have servers on like PSO v1/v2, Quake III , 4x4, Starlancer, Sega Swirl, Doom and Maximum Pool.

  • @wewantdreamcast2 LOL Funny. I misunderstood when I heard they shut down Fantasy Star Online.

  • @edsandsonicatolympic

    They did.

    It's a private server.

  • @wewantdreamcast2 so you you the web browser on your Dreamcast still? can it really play youtube videos? i have a dreamcast and the web browser disc, but i don't have dial up. it here any way to hook my dreamcast up to the internet using high speed light ?

  • @wolfemancola

You dont have to use dial.

Buy a bba or use the pc-dc server to connect to the internet.

  • this looked amazing whoa

  • 2:28

O_o What is sonic doing to the chao?

  • Can you still get on it?

  • Sega, you kick ass, kthxbai.

  • SEGA knew! the world just wasn't ready...

  • looks cool, wish i had a dreamcast when i was 3

  • this is cool

  • *cries*

Sony ruined everything by releasing the PS1 and then the PS2! They messed up the competition between Sega and Nintendo! Bwwaaaaaah hold me Nintendo!

Sorry that anyone had to read this...

  • @Jelley0 ANOTHER reason to hate Sony? Jeez...

  • for the pc version of sonic adventure dx they should have added the internet feature and the vmu chao's could have been some kind of files that contains the chao infromation in it or for the gamecube version causes the gameboy to adapt like the vmu.

  • I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but the Sega Genesis had the Sega Channel, which was the first online connection for a home console and the Saturn had the first internet multiplayer for a home console. Sega was always 2 steps or more ahead. Look up the Sega Channel. Hm... Xbox marketplace much?

  • they should remake the sonic adventure series for the wii (as disc, sadly D:), as downloadable content for the 360 and ps3 and they should include this online modes :D

the chao garden online would be the best thing EVER

  • @DarkkirbyKRPG they do have a xbox live arcade port of sonic adventure 1, flawless if you ask me

  • @BronzeTurd i know, but it isnt online and it isnt a remake, just a port D:

it would be awesome if you could race online, share chaos with your friends, etc

  • @DarkkirbyKRPG it does have better graphics though

  • @BronzeTurd it's the gamecube version

  • They should have had online Chao races.

  • this has even more features than xbox live and playstation network

  • GOD I MISS THE DREAMCAST :(

  • @xHAZELRAHx i dont... cos i got 3 of them and a shit-ton of games! :p

  • The game was so different.

  • software obsoleto

  • wow way ahead of its time for console made in the late 1900s, i wish dreamcast didnt die off so soon it really is my favorite console.

  • is this still work?

  • would u happen to know the name of the songs used?

woow this vid gives me a nostalgic feel wen i played this when i was a kid and im like 16 now! I agree with other youtubers saying this revolutionized online gaming.

  • this was on TV august 1998

  • so basically dreamcast was going to be the first console to have internet.

if they didnt cancel it sega would be rich now

  • @nintendude8

For one the Dreamcast did have online, just isn't there anymore.

Along with that the NTSC Saturn did have limited "Online" capabilities; difference was it wasn't server based, so there are games like Saturn Bomberman that if you get a friend who has a saturn, buy 2 Net link modems, and call each other on a land line to start it you could actually play "online".

Though Server based is superior in that it's easier, and you don't have to know people.(Though land lines last forever)

  • I see this and I wonder why sega stopped making this kind of stuff... They were ahead of EVERY OTHER COMPANY at this time, in their console capabilities.

  • @SquilliamtheCoolest nintendo sold more than sega so they backed out of the console business and went to just games.

  • @askmiller actually sega was just into ruff times trying to keep there promises for the demanding fans and ending up just selling out entierly

  • Dreamcast was and is STILL genious. I understand that the PS2 at the time was said to be more poularar and it also had a DVD drive but so what. Its all about the games and dreamcast was one of the first to really deliver every beautiful aspect of gaming. Their has always been somthing about sega games that were always origional games. Honestly I can go on all day about the Dreamcast being one of the best systems ever but I'ma end this now...

  • "I am the best and you can not do anything about it, oh there is something you cold do read it and weep, I AM THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

  • music?

  • I love how Dreamcast had the internet capabilities that systems today are really only just getting into.

  • agree to the fullest

  • i lol'ed at the comment at 3:07

  • No on can touch this!! I

    rule!hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..............

    That is hilarious.

  • awesome vid, thanks!

  • cool

  • Actually, everything shown on that video was pretty much made available on SA's in-game site.

Despite the wording given, everything was indeed downloadable and available on SA's in-game site. You can see that hedgehog picture finding mission in one of my own videos.

  • WOW, I never knew my dreamcast could do that, and I never knew sonic adventure could do that either, I have both, but it won't work, any advice? I don't know if I could take the dreamcast and the game in somewhere to maybe see what the problem is, I don't know if it's the game or the system....

  • Sonic Adventure never had internet capability and the Dreamcast network got shut down ages ago soon after the PSO networks went down (That was their internet flagship)

  • I know that, but I just never knew it could have done that. So when did the PSO network go down?

  • I can't really remember when considering I never really played it much.

  • 3:08 - Average internet comments.

  • Live on, little sega swirl

  • you used to be able to trade chao online in Sonic adventure?! o_o

  • No, these are all unreleased features. You could download chao from a website, but they weren't actual chao raised by someone else. As far as I remember, you could get 'jewel' or metallic colored chao.

You can still get online with a Dreamcast, but you must be able to connect to a private server.

  • ah, i see...

  • At least on the limited edition version.

I know so because I found it at an old Gamesquare.

  • if i was to get me a broadband connector for my dreamcast could i still get online with it? i know you can play your dreamcast with pso threw a private server same with quake 3

  • The dreamcast was ahead of its time, I think sega just chose the wrong people to make games for it

    Dreamcast FTW

  • I wish you could do all that on the ports...

  • agggh DC lost because PS2 had the ability to play DVDs bullshit... >_>

    and other stuff too

  • chao daycare

  • legend, the dreamcast is unic... its games are fun... the VMU is Amazing... the ps2 feels like a step back on the videogame world because of how shity it is... the Dreamcast on the other side... felt like the future of gaming... Dreamcast... its name says it all =)

  • I love all the extra peripherals for the DC - you can do anything with it! I wan't another light-gun, a set of marracas and I will be happy.. I see the DC (and the Saturn before it) as the spiritual successor to the Neo Geo; they had loads of support for thier games, a much more arcadey feel and even cross over connectivity between Dreamcast and Neo Geo pocket fighting games! ^_^ I mostly play fighters and shmups on my DC - I use it every single day.

  • @YFSystemDreamcastII lol dude it really wasn't Sony's fault they made crappy add-ons then made the Saturn and abandoned that just to make a new system no one trusted them any more and Sony's PS2 came out and SEGA got hammered and pulled the plug.

  • @allgamesfan LIES

  • @YFSystemDreamcastII I'm sorry did you say PS2 or your face?

  • the Dreamcast was so much more advanced then the ps2 in everything... graphics... online... games... everything... Dreamcast =)

  • <3 the Dreamcast ... i agree with YF .. Ps2 sux sweatty ballz .. just cuzz Sony is a Multi Billionaire company and can keep this shitty system alive proves how pathetic they are .. cuzz the Dreamcast LIVES ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! till this day and games are beeing made .. Fans are allways on the lookout for DC hardware and "NEW" dreamcasts and see thru cases .. and NO COMPANY is making Dreamcast to continue living . IT LIVES ON BY ITSELF with its Uniqueness and the help of its AWSOME FANS

  • I MISS MY CHAO! T~T

  • i still have that sonic game and rival school

  • that would have been so awesome! dreamcast could have beaten playstation if they wouldnt have stopped!

  • this wouldve kept the sega dreamcast alive

  • thanks for sharing this was awesome

  • Is it true, aaaauuuuuuu

  • Why Sega... why... this wouldve been sooo intense!!

  • 10 years ago, but 10 years in advance !

  • Yep, PSN stole Sega former glory... damn... is incredible how poor publicity was able to kill the company so easily... And Segata Sanshiro... that publicity would have been really popular on the states as well.

  • That game runs smoothly for a game running on Dial-up.

This would have pushed Dreamcast far enough ahead to allow them to stay competitive at least through 2004.

  • I don't know about 2004 but definitely longer though

  • wait, could you never do this?

  • To bad ppl didn't buy one...i'm still playing with mine cuz it's awsome. If you guys can get one i recomand it.

  • If its lost how did u find it. LOL

  • way ahead of its time!

  • i agree the dream network features were way ahead of its time!,

they should of put this content in SADX

after all both the gamecube and PC (obviously) have online capabilities

  • they supposedly put the missions on it mission mode

  • shame they didn't put any other of the online features in.

  • Dreamcast= my religion

  • praise be the dreamcast. Amen

  • LONG LIVE DREAMCAST.

  • I'm all but weeping.

  • dreamcast was awesome.

  • Didn't the GC version of DX come before the PC version?

GC didn't like online too much.

  • Ohhh That game remember me when i was a chlid a really god game and the Dreamcast my first console a really good console :D

  • IF it really had come out, would have been amazing. I wonder why it was never finished.

  • Because Yuji Naka had to finish it WAY earlier...in 1998... at the japanese dreamcast launch.

  • too bad those ideas couldn't get on their feet -- extra missions would have been nice.

  • super coool!@
