How has Hyundai addressed the oily buildup on the valve stems which attracts so much carbon the horsepower starts to dive after only 5K miles on the odometer. Ford and Cadillac have addressed this problem with new ECM's that produce ultra precise timing which has shown no oily deposits.
first nothing really new here second why don't car manufactures companies use Diesel type of piston with deep hole on top as those are proven to get better compression and it takes pressure off cylinders walls and heads = longer lasting engine with better performance using 3 compression rings and 3 oil rings would make an engine out live a human being lol. And you would basically never loose compression
This is not direct injection ie: direct inject straight into the combustion chamber as diesel engines do, and the new Bombard two strokes there's nothing new here.. move on
lol id love to see how this motor would preform in my 5000 pound Buick.im sure i could lay some nasty tire marks but it would suck gas from the car being so heavy
Ski-Doo E-TEC Engine Technology kicks the shit out of this idea, why would you develop 4 strokes after seeing that????? 2 strokes are the future, lighter, lower emissions, more efficient, and longer engine life. win win win. they did do something better than what they had in the past here i guess, if you liked this video please just watch "Ski-Doo E-TEC Engine Technology" its amazing
@TheNuggetface um... no, 2 stroke engines are pretty nasty your knowledge of engines must be low if you think 2strokes create lower emissions than 4strokes.. engine manufactures would have to invest lots of money to refine a big enough 2stroke so it can power a car, making that car an expensive odd engine car that no one would want thus making it bad business for automotive manufacturers. if you hate 4 stroke so much get an electric car dude..
@kumathebulldog With all respect, new two strokes are a lot different than the ones they made back in the 80's. Especially DI help 2-strokes get more fuel efficient and better performing. I think a 2-stroke DI car engine could work, if anyone are brave enough in the industry.
@TheNuggetface I actually have seen the new E-Tec video, and they have improved the two stroke engine, but they still burn oil, but they still lose intake gases out through exhaust ports wasting fuel, they do not have lower emissions then a four stroke motor, they don't burn cleaner than one, why do you think they quit using two-strokes in motogp ?
I am an Assistant Service Manager at a Toyota Dealership, my brother builds the Camry, Venza and Avalon. My father owned the Toyota Dealership in my hometown for 20 years. Im happy and proud to say that I just bought the 11 Hyundai Sonata. I love it!! Great car for the money!! great
These engines are gonna suffer from extreme carbon build-up and end up dying. And the ones that don't die will have constant problems starting around 30k miles.
only hyundai could make an engine that sounds this gay...
macgilliosa99 1 month ago
So, they took a diesel cylinder head, slapped some spark plugs in it instead of glow plugs, and stuck it on top of a gasoline engine block....
Brilliant.

My friend has a sonata with this engine he's put 65,000miles on it and never hade a signal problem.

@SNLGUY Because europe and the rest of the world uses better engine oil then in the us, here we change oil every 30000km

@SNLGUY Also they have this problem every DI engine suffer from carbon build up.
DI are not good for driving short trips.

@eraserheads78 nope it's 200 hp in US where the GDI engine is used. Outside North America, it's a less powerful engine.

The timing chain looks like it would cause a lot of friction on the "chain system" and not that impressive HP for a 2.4L.
