On the back of the Bosch inj. Pump, remove the 4 cap screws on the sq. plate. Loosen lock nut, turn screw c/w approximately 1 full turn, this should easily get your required HP effect. 4440's, when new were around 140/145 HP stock on the Dyno. The 466 was & still is a very good Eng. Deere used that same long block all the way up to the 8440. Only diff I was aware of was diff injectors/intercooler & a "p" pump instead of an "a" pump. I assure you, an "a" pump wi deliver more fuel than you would
hello i have a question to anyone who reads this. i am wanting to turn the fuel up on our jd 4440 to 145 to 160 horses, the tractor has been well maintained and always will be. i need to know where the "fuel screw" is and how much and which way to turn it (ive heard 1/16) thanks and nice video
thats actually me in that tractor my dad bought it about 8 years ago and once he bought it he wanted to go all out on it the only thing we really use it for is pulling a 1540 john deere drill and boy is it fun drilling with it. the fuel pump is turned all the way out and it has an aftermarket little bigger turbo on it never had any problems with it.
any diesel can and will blow whitish-bluish smoke on a cold start. All that means is that it's cold and not all the fuel is igniting fully. Diesels don't like to start when it's cold out. Even when it's not cold the injectors can leak a little if it sits for a while and that will also cause the white smoke. The only time you're really in trouble is if it continues to blow white smoke after it's warmed up and running a while.
my uncle has one just like it and i grew up to that sound. Sounds like music to my ears. Best sounding diesel ever only Detroit and cummins come second
