They always do a good job working on the single player FF's along with making the online ones. Just because they're making FF14 online, doesnt mean it'll take a lot longer for FF15 to come out. Even though it'll come out a whiiiiile from now.

I'm talking about fairness and a resonable image representing female gamers, because I haven't seen a possitive one yet. I'm not asking for extra, just equality, and I haven't seen it in this industry yet.
I have to say, I'm sick of the fact that the only women that video game commercials/add campaigns show are usually playing non-hardcore games. Wii titles, min-games, exercise games, cooking games. I'm not saying that there isn't a place for these titles, but I haven't seen a woman playing a first person shooter or Resident Evil (and I'm not talking about supermodels, because they don't actually play video games, and their presence is there simply for sex appeal).
I feel funny after all of that stuff, because right now I'm working on writing a letter to Square-Enix to request that they make male Miqo'te (Mithras) and female Roegadyn (Galkas) playable characters. (I can just imagine someone screaming out "TRAITOR!!" About the male Miqo'te.) I don't know if it will make a difference, but not trying at all will definately not change anything anywhere. Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts?
actually i never played final fantasy 11 because it never appealed to me. i can say one thing about the galkas though. Personally they dont reproduce sexually they reincarnate so i dont think there are female or male galkas for that matter. i think theyre like.. things... to put it simply other than that i think that might be a good idea.
I didn't either, but I'm looking forward to playing FF XIV. I've done research in the Galkas, and the original concept was that they were asexual=no gender, which I found rather facinating, but then they switched it to having all of the females wiped out, and the Galkas "concieved" by head out into the mountains when they were about to die, and then being reincarnated (I thought it was creative, but I prefered the thought of a race without gender - I guess I just like being controversial ^_^).
most mithra's are manthra's anyways, so I realllly wish they would just make a male mithra, I know that wont stop all the guys from playing girl characters, but at least some... the demand for male mithras in the english culture is huge.
I've heard that the outcry for male Miqote (Mithras) is even more severe in Japan. I've visited a lot of forums. They kept the same races but made them not look as unique as they did in FF XI (in my opinion, anyways). I don't see why they can't add an extra race or a different gender. It's rather embarrassing. They have kinda went around questions like this in interviews, so it may still be possible, but I feel rather put down as a fan that SE doesn't seem to care about its audience.

yes and 10 never caught on, reason? Flooding consumers with one product is a bad marketing move. People are going to be playing 13 and not care about 14 since their already playing a FF game.
And besides, showing 14 when everyone is wrapping their heads around 13 is not going to attract as many people as it would if everyone was waiting for a new FF game.
But anyways, I'm really looking forward to this. WoW got insatiably boring for me about half a year ago, been looking for another MMO to fill the void, but yet to find quality.

Sry to break it to you but Residentevilbeater is right, PS3 and PC only. Oh and another thing you did too need gold, cuz FFXI is multiplayer, you need gold for multiplayer. Read the manual.
Thats pretty much 100% a Galka with the axe, if you pause around 0:33 you can make out the tail of the mithra, its also the same stance a mithra uses when casting black magic, Ive seen taru hume and elves on the play online picture banner thing.

Squaresoft just wants more of our money. I say fuck Final Fantasy XIV. Trip some LSD or some magic mushrooms and you'll save yourself hundreds of dollars and a headache. People need to stop going into these virtual realities and DO SOMETHING with their lives. Your points seem to assume that any time spent on an MMO is a total waste, or that anyone who plays one spends "Too much" time on them. Out of curiosity, what other activities do you deem totally appropriate? Watching TV? Talking with friends? Reading a book? i think ff went cool till ff 9... maybe crystal chronicles is cool too, i never played sadly, i just dont like anithing of x2 and so on, i bough a ps2 when i came out only because of ffx but it was too changed...

Anyone who has read anything about Project Rapture knows that FFXIV was planned to be released on 360 and PC before they even confirmed that they would also port it to PS3. Then 2 weeks before E3 09 SE drops 360, I think because of hardware limitations. Its no secrets that 360 is easier to program for than PS3 so why isnt it being released at the same time or before the PS3? I'm not saying I dont want it on 360, just that its unlikely.
its been said that they are ganna have all the same races (hume,galka,mithra,elvaan,tarutaru) just different specs fixed flaws etc etc... just dif names possiblity
Considering they had FFXI on all three platforms they are going to probably put this on all three aswell. Hopefully they don't separate it into servers for PS3, 360 and PC I hope all of them are joined like it was in XI
Actually they are testing the game on 360 as well. If the 360 has the power to run the game properly then you'll most likely be looking it coming out on that platform as well. It'll probably be a later launch date for the 360 though (if it comes out for it at all)
they still have story lines...my guess is the reason being is to update FF with better graphics...i hope they introduce new playable characters like those bunny people from ff12 ^^

Interesting, and I agree, i wasn't expecting THAT to be Sqeenix's "online project in the works," but it is intriguing that they will again attempt online play. Just PLEASE don't make it the same slow, dull grindfest that XI was. FF12 was fantastic how it was open world combat and quick thinking to beat enemies. Give me action like that, just with other players controlling the rest of the party, keep the ability to max every job, SCREW subjobs, and balance them so EVERY job is useful, please.

well by now you should know that SE does not need to worry about popularity. Final Fantasy series can bring popularity to another platform SE desired.
FFXIV will be a success. SE gained experience from FFXI. Instead of focusing on party only activities, this time SE makes the gameplay of FFXIV more flexible. Not to mention about the stunning graphic it is going to offer with FFXIV. It makes WOW sudden looks old!

SE has already said in interviews and Q&As this week that they're working with MS to bring FF XIV to the 360. It's only definitively confirmed for PC and PS3 at the moment, though.
My guess is they're trying to figure out how to deal with Xbox Live more than anything else.
um..... im pretty sure i heard in the E3 presentation for this that its (Exclusive for ps3) now im not ruling out that it may not come on 360 if it does im still happy that it'll expand but im just going by what the man said k, and im hoping it will strictly be exclusive because this would really bring sony on the map seeing as how bill gates is spending his money harddd!!! with SE to get other exclusive so dont be surprise if it stays exclusive for ps3 rememer this is a console-war..........

That was Sony that said that. Within mere hours Square Enix clarified that it was also going to Windows (which is also confirmed on the game's official site) and that there is no exclusivity deal with Sony and that they were actively talking to Microsoft. Doesn't necessarily mean they WILL get it worked out and release it on the 360, but they are TRYING to do so.
Doesn't really matter as expanding to the 360 would create more subscribers to mmos. I am sure they would want as much people to play this so console-war is really not a problem. Wouldn't you want as much people playing in an MMORPG ;)?
For the 360, it wasn't a graphics problem but due to the XBOX live connection problem. Those that say that it was a graphic problem go check again at wikipedia and the FFXIV website. (It was also first developed for the XBOX 360 initially as well). And also... this isn't a console war, this is an MMORPG, you want as many people to play it so the idea of console war is out of the question!!!

As this game is suppose to be the replacement for FFXI it looks like all the FFXI races and classes will likely apply to this game... I am hoping for a few more races and the final release of male mithra.
Did anyone else notice the character who casts the shielding spell on the boat was a mithra? Only race missing from this trailer is tarutaru but tarutaru's can be seen on the offical FFXIV website.
I highly doubt after anti-climax that was FFXI on 360... SE will delay FFXIV for 360...
However I would not rule out that the game will be released on 360 as it was originally intended for 360 but as the 360 is a small market in Japan and a large portion of the players on this game will likely be Japenese PS3 does make more sense with PC making the most sense over all for MMORPG. Potentially we can't rule out later releases for other platforms as their is a chance Apple mac could see this too but I wouldn't bet on it.

This will not be a touched up version of FFXI. SE has said they have learned from mistakes from XI. They will be making the game more accessible to everyone by allowing people to solo. They've said they are changing the way the job system is done. Hopefully this means all jobs are available from the start(flipped out when I realized I could not play as dragoon from the beginning). This game was the biggest announcement from E3 for me. Can't wait for FFXIV.

11 and 10 came out in the same year. And they probably advertised both at the same time because they were in two different genres.
I honestly think they should have just named FFXI: Final Fantasy Online. It would make it much less confusing.

Thats pretty much 100% a Galka with the axe, if you pause around 0:33 you can make out the tail of the mithra, its also the same stance a mithra uses when casting black magic, Ive seen taru hume and elves on the play online picture banner thing.
ffxi will not be made free, neither will xiv.

Squaresoft just wants more of our money. I say fuck Final Fantasy XIV. Trip some LSD or some magic mushrooms and you'll save yourself hundreds of dollars and a headache. People need to stop going into these virtual realities and DO SOMETHING with their lives. Your points seem to assume that any time spent on an MMO is a total waste, or that anyone who plays one spends "Too much" time on them. Out of curiosity, what other activities do you deem totally appropriate? Watching TV? Talking with friends? Reading a book? I'm quite curious to hear your distinction between those activities, and playing a game such as FFXI/XIV.

I still fail to see the difference between activities you suggest such as camping with friends or reading a book, and similar activities ( Playing through a quest on FF with friends, or reading one of the many stories that unfold in FF)

Usually smart people are inquisitive. I'm simply asking you more about your opinion. Obviously there is a difference between a game and reality, however what we gain from experiencing a game is in no way lesser by default. You've still yet to address my question, but you have given some marvelous drug advice, its a shame I'm not interested in it.
One more time: How is a social interaction or a story in a game lesser than talking to a friend or reading a book?

Anyone who has read anything about Project Rapture knows that FFXIV was planned to be released on 360 and PC before they even confirmed that they would also port it to PS3. Then 2 weeks before E3 09 SE drops 360, I think because of hardware limitations. Its no secrets that 360 is easier to program for than PS3 so why isnt it being released at the same time or before the PS3? I'm not saying I dont want it on 360, just that its unlikely.

Considering they had FFXI on all three platforms they are going to probably put this on all three aswell. Hopefully they don't separate it into servers for PS3, 360 and PC I hope all of them are joined like it was in XI

Actually they are testing the game on 360 as well. If the 360 has the power to run the game properly then you'll most likely be looking it coming out on that platform as well. It'll probably be a later launch date for the 360 though (if it comes out for it at all)

Interesting, and I agree, i wasn't expecting THAT to be Sqeenix's "online project in the works," but it is intriguing that they will again attempt online play. Just PLEASE don't make it the same slow, dull grindfest that XI was. FF12 was fantastic how it was open world combat and quick thinking to beat enemies. Give me action like that, just with other players controlling the rest of the party, keep the ability to max every job, SCREW subjobs, and balance them so EVERY job is useful, please.

yessss im buying a ps3 just for this game!! it will be free to play and more casual than ffxi meaning you can play 40 mintues a day and actually make a good amount of progress. and they also said you won't have to rely on parties to lvl anymore. ffxi was just a stepping stone tthis game is gunna be awesome

well by now you should know that SE does not need to worry about popularity. Final Fantasy series can bring popularity to another platform SE desired.
FFXIV will be a success. SE gained experience from FFXI. Instead of focusing on party only activities, this time SE makes the gameplay of FFXIV more flexible. Not to mention about the stunning graphic it is going to offer with FFXIV. It makes WOW sudden looks old!

SE has already said in interviews and Q&As this week that they're working with MS to bring FF XIV to the 360. It's only definitively confirmed for PC and PS3 at the moment, though.
My guess is they're trying to figure out how to deal with Xbox Live more than anything else.

um..... im pretty sure i heard in the E3 presentation for this that its (Exclusive for ps3) now im not ruling out that it may not come on 360 if it does im still happy that it'll expand but im just going by what the man said k, and im hoping it will strictly be exclusive because this would really bring sony on the map seeing as how bill gates is spending his money harddd!!! with SE to get other exclusive so dont be surprise if it stays exclusive for ps3 rememer this is a console-war..........

That was Sony that said that. Within mere hours Square Enix clarified that it was also going to Windows (which is also confirmed on the game's official site) and that there is no exclusivity deal with Sony and that they were actively talking to Microsoft. Doesn't necessarily mean they WILL get it worked out and release it on the 360, but they are TRYING to do so.

For the 360, it wasn't a graphics problem but due to the XBOX live connection problem. Those that say that it was a graphic problem go check again at wikipedia and the FFXIV website. (It was also first developed for the XBOX 360 initially as well). And also... this isn't a console war, this is an MMORPG, you want as many people to play it so the idea of console war is out of the question!!!

As this game is suppose to be the replacement for FFXI it looks like all the FFXI races and classes will likely apply to this game... I am hoping for a few more races and the final release of male mithra.
Did anyone else notice the character who casts the shielding spell on the boat was a mithra? Only race missing from this trailer is tarutaru but tarutaru's can be seen on the offical FFXIV website.
I highly doubt after anti-climax that was FFXI on 360... SE will delay FFXIV for 360...

However I would not rule out that the game will be released on 360 as it was originally intended for 360 but as the 360 is a small market in Japan and a large portion of the players on this game will likely be Japenese PS3 does make more sense with PC making the most sense over all for MMORPG. Potentially we can't rule out later releases for other platforms as their is a chance Apple mac could see this too but I wouldn't bet on it.

This will not be a touched up version of FFXI. SE has said they have learned from mistakes from XI. They will be making the game more accessible to everyone by allowing people to solo. They've said they are changing the way the job system is done. Hopefully this means all jobs are available from the start(flipped out when I realized I could not play as dragoon from the beginning). This game was the biggest announcement from E3 for me. Can't wait for FFXIV.
