  • I really enjoy this. I hope someday i can become this good at fingerpicking guitar haha i'm i big fan of james taylor. But outstanding job.

  • im 16, and i wish i could play as good as you do! wish u could teach me haha :) you're really really good!

  • @dontdareforget123 Thx for the kind words. It took me a lifetime to learn...so don't be discouraged. Keep trying.

    -john

  • Hey if you learned this by ear, then you must be the next eric clappton! haha good job!!!

  • Keep up the good works.

    Sincerely, David Hart

  • Great! All thumbs up from Brazil!

  • This is so brilliant. Would love to learn to play like this rather than just using a plectrum. Is this peice just made up of different bits n peices? I've seen John D. Loudermilk mentioned... If you could mention a few good songs of his that would help me learn this sort of playing I'd be much appreciated!

    Thank you,

    Ben (UK)

  • @Crafty1980 Hi Ben - Thx for the kind words. I learned by listening to Chet Atkins and James Taylor.

    -john

  • 373 people must be jealous cause they can't do it

  • Hey man this is cool, we are just about as far apart as night and day but thats ok because we are both musicians, I am a tasteful young man and can appreciate pieces like this and i was wonder what your motivation for writing songs/playing guitar is. Thanks

  • ive listened to afew of ur vids now and the amount of love and soul u show in ur pickin is amazing u are on of the best pickers i have ever seen (:

  • Awesome! I have been playing my own version of this song for years!! A friend of mine showed me how, and I played what I could remember, so it hardly sounds like this, but it is great to hear the real song!! Your guitar sounds beautiful by the way!! Thanks for posting, have a great day

  • @kidnoz Well...this isn't much like the original John D. Loudermilk version. Just what I've hacked together by ear...but it doesn't sound too bad.

    -john

  • Nice work, what year is your 00-18? and are your bridge pins bone? nice tunes on all yours.

  • Yes - bone. 1967 - among the last made before Martin changed to the new bridge stock design that many feel had a negative impact on treble response.

  • John you are a wonderful guitarist, I am honing out my own style right now < I am a pastor and I have a very very deep love of raw gospel bluegrass Like Larry Sparks, and Ralph Stanley. But was once very heavily into hard rock . I know I am headed toward a different, and perhaps untraditional style of gospel. But your vids draw me back time and time again, I hope to be as good as you someday. THANK YOU FOR YOUR GREAT Contribution!

  • I wish you success in your quest for musical expression. Thanks for your kind words. I am honored and humbled, Bless you.
