  • OMG! Matthew is so handsome!

  • Possibly the finest family show ever made for television. I still watch this show with my family and have all the episodes on DVD. The core of that show was made up of some fine actors and Michael Landon was simply a genius... he could make you laugh and not 30 seconds later make you cry... this kind of television is sorely missed in our society today...

  • It's a shame they didn't keep the sets and make a theme park out of it, I bet it would have attracted a lot of people to visit.

  • They must've owned the land and building in real life right? So people can't film on it or buy it without asking! UGH this was a terrible ending to an amazing series i'm only 13, i haven't even finished the seasons but i saw this and was angry!

  • My second cousin Sarah Miller played young Charles mother when Mathew was first on Little House. She has passed but I was so proud she was in a quality t.v. show.

  • the blizzard scenes were filmed in northern cal in the mts.

  • I'm glad they blew up the sets, that way no one else could use them. If you saw some movie with that set, there would be too many things to remind you of the the good ol' little house.

  • Why Did They have to Blow up The Little House On The Prairie Set?? They should make the town again like it was & make it into a museum Like Fort Edmonton is!! Where I grow up!! I would visit The Little House On The Prairie Museum If They made it again! If U Agree Push They Like Button!!

  • They need to rebuild the little house set! I know it seems sacrilegious, but they could create an exact replica,

  • Well they could've at least donated all that good wood to some homeless project that could have made homes or shelters..what a waste! Hollywood is so wasteful.

  • tolle serie! :) muss man einfach mögen! :)

  • Matthew Laborteaux = HOT :)

  • where is this filmed. If it's anywhere near Hollywood, anyone know how they filmed blizzard scenes. CGI was not even around then.

  • i love it to

  • OK I didn't see the episode where Albert was addicted to morphine, so although I don't know what all happened, I do know that an opiate addict can't just quit cold turkey like that. It's actually dangerous to do so. They have to be detoxed slowly. You might think completely taking away the drug from an addict is just "tough love", but it's actually quite cruel because they suffer unbearably.

  • Laborteaux is still hot! Lol.

  • Still remember I waited every day at 5pm to watch this when I was 9 or 10 in Vietnam. Lovely story ever!

  • Going back on the place where little house was filmed with Melissa , just bring back so many good memories watching it. Always love watching it even today at 40 years old.

  • Michael Landon really looks like my father, who died too young, too. They look like twins. The same voice and the same sense of humor. Its like seeing my own father on tv. Papa, i love you. Michael, many, many thanks for lhotp. RIP

  • Oh My God!! This is great, thanks you for sharing and posting this!! When i was a little boy Little House was my favorite!!!

  • Wish we had more shows like this today. Sadly, programs like this one may be considered too goody-goody for many of today's audiences -- adults who think that any drama that doesn't contain sex and excessive violence is boring, and kids who are so used to shows with catchy music, flashy costumes and special effects, that shows like LHOP may be too simple and too outdated for them. A real shame.

  • what episode is 3:50 from?

  • @uxbaby its from home again

  • I have never seen this retrospective at all? Can you share some of the details - when it aired, more clips, etc? Thanks for posting this up!

  • I'm glad albert is gay had a crush on him when I was young....one of my last boyfriends looked like him

  • @julesario Where did you hear/read/learn he is gay? I've never heard that before...

  • I really like the end when she said its just the begging and when pa was doing all of that sill stuff.

  • I loved Little House alot.I acually have the whole series.Still enjoy all the time never get sick of watching them!! :0)

  • i love the little house on the prairie<3 it's truly my favorite t.v. show of all time ( :

why did it have to end ?? :(

  • Michael Landon was a great man :) I even laughed on these scenes. Although I knew him all my life of the prairie series, I still loved him. I grew up on this series, and when I took a look at the musical, I missed the old actors. LHOTP without them is not the same.

And it makes me sad, that they all got old. And a few of the already died.

They were wonderful people. So May Rest In Peace.

They will live forever, unless we remember of them! Because only those die, who got forgotten.

  • I met her ( melissa gilbert) shes very nice

  • Was the family acting in the " Little house on the prairie" was really a family in the real life?

  • @khattmale no

  • @gracesunflower uh yeah i did i met her when she came to toronto and..... shes down to earth!

  • This makes me want to cry.(the beginning part anyway) I love this show. Its probably my favorite show of all time.

  • This makes me want to cry. I love this show. Its probably my favorite show of all time.

  • This makes me want to cry.

  • Wow I should probably go visit the Little House since I live only an hour away from independence, Kansas.

  • subtitulos en español por favor

  • I'm literally crying my eyes out this is so sad and depressing

  • this is so sad

  • Matt says such sweet things. He's amazing.

  • oh Man der Michael scheint echt super lustig gewesen zu sein!!!! :) und ich glaube die Tränen bei der Sprengung sind wirklich echt...

  • Blowing up the set was a really dumb move. What a tourist attraction it would be now. Hell, I hate tourist traps, but I'd buy some candy from the Olsens Mercantile :)

  • @utahtoad

    AGEREE!

shit! why they blow the set up?? Michael Landon said to Melissa Gilbert " it's just the beginning, it just the begin!

Yes, it had begun, it had live forever! If they didn't have blown up the set location, whit Nellis nice Restaurant/ Church/ and the school , and the Olsens little Mercnatile.. :/

really stupid to blowing all up!

Little House on the prairie is the most wonderful series ever, i look every day, even i have seen all the episodes many times :))

  • @utahtoad I remember an interview that Michael didn't want movie companies using the set for sleezy movies afterward so he blew it up

  • @utahtoad Blowing up the set was a great idea! One of the most dramatic endings to a tv series ever! Michael did not want other tv/movie companies using parts of or the entire set! For him it was not about the money he/others would have made off a tourist trap

  • @utahtoad I think it would be really cool to be able to go there and see the set, but I also think there are enough tourist attractions where the real Laura Ingalls Wilder lived and grew up. If you were to google DeSmet, SD the first page is all tourist attractions for Laura Ingalls Wilder. In DeSmet there is the Ingalls' Homestead, Almanzo Wilder's Homestead, grave sites to most of Laura's family, the Loftus store, the Ingalls house in town, the LIW Pagent, and many other places too.

  • @utahtoad No doubt. That and killing off Albert was lame and inconsistent. Otherwise the show and cast were amazing.

  • matthew is still hot! lolz, and awww! she named her kid michale!!! awww!,<3 and lolz, the retake parts,LOLZ!

  • albert is so cute there :)

  • albert is so cute there :)

  • Michael was so funny :D. RIP for your soul.

  • matthew laborteaux was so gorgeous! even as a little kid. he was the most handsome thing.

  • ALBERT turned out HOT :)...andy chubby now lol. he appeared on icarly.

  • michael landon real name is...Eugene Maurice Orowitz October 31, 1936(1936-10-31) Forest Hills, Queens, New York, U.S. Died July 1, 1991(1991-07-01) (aged 54) Malibu, California, U.S. Occupation Actor, director, producer, writer Years active 1956–1991 Spouse Dodie Frasier (1956–1962) (divorced) (1 step-son, 1 adopted son) Lynn Noe (1963–1982) (divorced) (1 step-daughter, 4 children) Cindy Landon (1983–1991) (widowed) (2 children)
  • Watched every show. Some of them were too deep for my young mind to handle but I loved them all.

  • @nostalgiajunkie70 Same here! =D

  • she really grew into a beauty.

  • Michael Landon is in heaven now. He's watching us, I want my purpose to keep little house on the prairie alive in all my family generations.

  • They should have had a spin-off with the characters moving to another area and setting up a new town....such a waste. The show is still so popular I bet NBC deeply regrets ending the series after a mere 9 seasons.

  • I never saw the last episode. Why did they blow everything up?

  • @HelenaKoonings because they were forced to move out by some rich guy, so they said that if they can't have the town no one can and they blew the place up.

  • at 4:01, Charles is so serious! LITTLE HOUSE ROCKS! Michael Landon`s acting was really powerful xD

  • They should have never ruined the village-set!

They should have keep it the way it was!

  • What joy Meslissa and the whole cast brought to our children, my wife and I. It seemed like more than a television program. Sje and they can be proud of that work till the day they pass. It's no small thing to console and bring happiness to so many---unlike, I have to say it, the crap on TV today.

  • Do u have more of the behind the scenes vids or do u know where I can find them? Albert is Soooo Cute :D

  • I LUV This! Thank U For Uploading It :D

  • Directly after the Civil War there were more addicts than today. Why? First morphene or other narcotics were sold OTC; secondly there were hundreds of thousands of war vets on both sides with no effective way of controlling pain from war wounds that wouldn't heal. They had a legitimate reason for using narcotics but anyone could get them. Same with cocaine. Coca Cola had 8 mg of cocaine in each serving. My death began in RVN. I'm in brutal pain everyday. Please don't judge too harshly.

  • i met melissa gilbert! She was so nice i wish i worked for michal landon

  • where was the brothel?

  • @bettydaw1970 ...You vile idiot

  • @0rbis2010 its called humore..probably above you..

  • @bettydaw1970 Yeah, I'll bet you think its humor, dimwit.

  • When I first watched this as a kid, I didn't understand morphine addiction. A few years ago when I was hospitalized, I experienced the same thing - dilaudid addiction (jacked-up morphine). I am amazed at the acting in this scene now, knowing how similar it was to what I went through.

  • I just love this show. I wish that they could make another series but without Mike Melissa Karen Alison Victor Matt and the rest of the crew it would not be the same.

  • "ooooooh my butt. 14 years on Bonanza it STILL hurts when I ride!" made me laugh SO HARD!

  • Comment removed

  • Why did they blow all the building up?

I remember watching a lot of these episodes but mainly the early one. I never saw the last episode.

  • @nealthedude True story; Michael Landon did not want some sleazy production having; bragging rights' to having filmed on the old LHOTP lot site. So he was the one that chose for him and the sake of all the long cast members to blow up the buildings that made up Walnut Grove. Even though it's sad; I think he did the right thing as his prediction would have eventually happened, especially after his passing.. Cheers:)

  • where teh heck was ms olson in the last episode

  • Oh, my! LHotP Bloopers! Didn't know there was such an animal.

  • how come they blew up the town? I don't understand that?

  • @trunte93 so people nowadays wont go to walnut grove, Minnesota and make another show

  • @trunte93 I was reading Melissa Sue Anderson's book the other day and she said it was Michael Landon's idea. The 'town' had become such a living part of the cast and crew he couldn't bear the thought of seeing the sets being used in some other TV show or movie.

  • @trunte93 It was also like an "f you" to the network. Melissa Gilbert says that it her book. The network cancelled the show without any notice, and they were pretty shady about the whole thing. Michael Landon didn't want stupid spin-offs or bad westerns filmed there after LHOTP was done with, so he wrote into the script that the whole town was to be blown up.

  • @beckahmarie2 What are you talking about? Even after the show was cancelled, they gave Landon the chance to wrap up the series with three two-hour specials. This is a huge rarity in television. He had more notice than 99% of the series that are on the air.

  • @kbirdusa Yes, but the fact that they cancelled the show without any notice when it had been on the air for so long is still pretty crappy. Yeah, it's cool that they gave him the hour specials, but I still think he was pretty hurt by the whole thing. Obviously I can't speak for him, but from what I've read from the other cast members, that was Michael Landon's reasoning for blowing up the set.

  • @kbirdusa Here here! After nine seasons, and steadily declining ratings, Landon had to know time would soon be up for LHOTP. Those six additional hours were more than enough to wrap up the show, which he did nicely. Recently, Las Vegas was cancelled after six seasons with no resolution to storylines. Dynasty, which unlike LHOTP had been a #1 show, was abruptly cancelled after nine seasons. Fortunately, they were given one 2-hour special to wrap everything up, but it came two years afterwards.

  • patrick , you got eat something .....my name is andrew

  • you have to admit that melissa gilbert was a brilliant actress in these episodes and she really loved Michael Landon as just more than a boss after her father passed away at aged 11 he became like a 2nd father to her.

as for Michael himself...you were obviously a character off set and a brilliant actor on set...I wish you were still around today RIP

  • They should have kept the town=( It would have been a cool tourist place for little house fans.

  • @princessUSA2 thats what I think too imagine the millions of dollars that would have been bought in i lovedddd this show (im onli 19) but i would have loved to go and see the town etc

  • What should that be strange. Just worked all those years with him, calling her Pa all the time... and then just after it he died. What a pain for them. He was one of the greatest actors i know.

    Rip Michael Landon. :(

(P.S) Have you more of thes behind the screnes vids ? or do you know where to them ? I so laughed ! :)

  • @DaFinalFantasyAddict sorry it took so long for the reply. Unfortunatley I dont have anymore behind the scenes videos. However, the best place to look is on the DVDs of the series. There are lots and lots of added features to each DVD. That would be your best bet.

  • I had a crush on Albert when I was twelve.

  • @pineapple1969 - I had a crush on Mathew too. He was very cute and still is.

  • Wait a minute; THEY BLEW UP THE TOWN? Where the heck was I? Sigh.

  • @MarvinandLisa - The very last episode.

  • She's a dork

  • They didn,t blow up the Little House

  • damn. albert. wow! He's really gorgeous as an adult.

  • Melissa Gilbert looks like belle in beauty and the beast in this documentary.

  • I love Little House, I've got all three books written by Melissa Gilbert, Melissa Anderson amd Alison Arngrim. Poor Alison had it the worst at home.

  • why did they blow up the town?

  • @TheSdtn It was reported that ML wanted to blow up the town because he didn't want the little house sets showing up on other shows as background scenery etc.

  • @TheSdtn the report was that ML didn't want the LHOTP buildings/scenery to be used in other shows, etc, so destroying them was better that risking them popping up in some background.

  • Melissa Gilbert says how much she misses it but in her book 'a prairie tale' she was basically saying how shes got fed up with it towards the end. Melissa Sue Anderson hasnt changed a bit!!

  • Why did they blow up their town? I never saw that one.

  • @Delphinus32 the episode is called the last farewell. the very last episode.

  • Thanks for sharing ... I really enjoyed this... : D I will always cherish the memories of LHOP and its great cast of actors...

    LHOP4 LIFE!

  • @Emotional2000 Hey Emotional!!

  • matthew labortueax is so handsome

  • Matthew is so handsome!! :)

  • laura was always running somewhere

  • thats like her signature move : RUNNING OUT THE DOOR!!

  • Matthew is still good looking and still has lots of hair!

  • Matthew laborteaux has become very charming ;)

  • I remember an interview where Melissa said that she was upset with Michael for leaving his wife, and she did say she stopped talking to him for a bit

  • @PatrickLHawkins But in the end she loved him and forgave him, if forgive is the right word. She also named a son Michael after her T.V. dad / friend

  • deadly, micheal landon is a pure genuis

  • Wow, Matthew is still looking very good...

  • she looked much nicer here than in the other interviews later...

  • Yeah, I'd like to know too! What do you mean by saying Gilbert betrayed Landon? It's kinda hard to believe, are you sure you got it right?

  • I love this show so very much!!! I am 33 years old and I remember watching this every day as a kid!!! I cried so hard when this show ended... RIP Michael Landon!!! You were a superb actor and human being!!!

  • @sunny1gir Can you explain how she betrayed him??? I have never heard this claim before and I am interested in your resources and research into this.

  • Are you nuts? She names her son after him!

  • On what basis are you making that claim?

  • wat do u mean?

  • Where can I find this? Is it one one of the DVDs?

  • Hmmmmmm, idk. I'd look on eBay or Amazon??? If it isn't there, it's always here on YouTube!

  • there is 10 seasons of "little house on the prairie", i have all ten seasons on my hard drive, 72gb of them....reply if u want any or all, i would be pleased to mail u a dvd of some of them if u want...plz reply

  • could you send me them? I'd be very gratefull.

  • I would like all the seasons too, please!!!

  • I agree with you archergirl1996, and Melissa looks a lot like Megan Follows or Anne.

  • hehehe, yes! :)

  • Matthew Laborteaux when he's older looks an awful like Jonathan Crombie who plays Gilbert in Anne of Green Gables. Besides the fact that they look alike, they're both very good-looking. :) :) :)

  • He looks great! He hasn't aged a day!

  • Mathew L(Albert) was cute back then and is gourgus now!! Mm

  • when were these interviews from? Like what year?

  • they were done around 1994 or 1995 it was during a Michael Landon Documentary after he had passed away.

  • @Johnny15depp yea. it was called Michael Landon: Memories with Laughter and Love. it was made in 1991

  • How old is Matthew Laborteaux in this interview? I saw an interview that is more recent and he looks really different so I am just wondering.

  • yes your are right it was morphine

  • Are you kidding me? That's how Matthew turned out! He's beautiful =)

  • i thought he always beautiful hes hot

  • were they blasting the set 4 an epi. or was it 4 good?

  • For good.

  • someone ought to rebuld walnut grove the little house church olsen as a tourist attraction that would be worth to see

  • in my humble opinion if anyone where to ask me what is the best tv series of ALL time, I would say Littlle House On The Prairie. I NEVER get tired of watching it over and over. Thanks for sharing this.

  • why did he tell her it was just the begining it was the end? and the show went off the air and most of them haven't worked since.

  • Olá, este seriado é maravilhoso!!!

Tenho a 1ª temporada legendada, gostaria de adquirir a 2ª legendada em português. Você saberia onde posso encontrar pela internet?

    Obrigada

  • I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY don't like that they blew up the town. That is just so freakin weird to me. I don't see why there couldn't be a happy ending. Like... they lived happily ever after the way they always had.

  • @SoChaii

I agree and that could have been a great tourist attraction !

  • I love this little tribute to the show. Thanks for sharing :)

  • albert was freeking out cause he got hooked on opium. stoled it from dr. baker he was trying to ween off it but was needing a fix. he did get better.

  • no, it was morphine

  • they wanted to come in and build a railroad and they town was offered a small price for the property. and build it up to make a big proffit. but the town wanted to remain a small close net family and friends kind of town that was proud of the land and the town they built with their sweat and tears.

  • Wait, why is Albert freaking out at 3:40 ?

  • that episode is called "home again", and the clip we saw here is from part two... i think. but albert is addicted to morphine, and Pa takes Albert to mr. Edwards old cabin to help cure his addiction to morphine. It's a very VERY sad episode and very horrifying..

  • Ya, it is "Home Again" from season 9. The Ingalls weren't in that season but Charles and Albert make an appearance in the 2 part episode. He made some bad friends in the city that got him hooked on morphine and because he was acting out, Charles, who had no idea of his addiction, went back to walnut grove to get him away from all the trouble. He learns there that Albert has been takin morphine and he borrows Mr. Edward's house away from the town to stay in while Albert goes through withdraw.

  • I still don't understand why in the world they destroyed the town. It would be cool to have it as a visiting place!!

  • I think because in the final episode didn't some people come in and want to buy the town and ruin it so they had to destroy it in order to save it's legacy!

  • Yes, that's what happened. I wonder why they didn't think of a different kind of ending though. Seems like a shame to destroy all the buildings. But if I remember correctly, the church never got blown up in the last episode, it must of just got torn down. Overall, I just think it would of been cool if the town was still there to visit and have a building built near by to have all the props they used in the shows.

  • they destroyed the town bc someone bought the town and everyone who lived in walnut grove at the time didnt want the men who bought it to have the luxery of already having stores and homes there..

  • I think Michael Landon destroyed it because he didn't want others to come there and make sequels or something.

  • @firemn42 The reason BEHIND the story. For 9 10 years LITTLE HOUSE was makeing tons of money for NBC. NBC decides to cancel the show BUT dosent let Micael Landon know BEFORE the press knows. At lest PART of the reason of blowing up the sets was how NBC treated him and his family about the cancelation. I say good job considering the reasons it was done

  • Come to an end my butt ! Im still watching ! Thanks for posting !

  • i love little house on the praire! it brings me to tears when shows this heartwarming and unique don't appear on tv anymore.

  • It comes on on the hallmark channel five days a week. I'm a nanny and watch it every day :)

  • @KarenFan4Ever I don't have cable but regular channels. I wish I could watch it there. I really miss this so much! I always wanted to visit there at Walnut Grove. Some day I will

  • There will never be another show like this one! I will always cherish it and all of its cast members!...God bless Michael Landon who put this all together!..Thanks for the beautiful sweet memories!!!

  • @wdeadman49 And God Bless Laura Ingails Wilder for witting the books. RIP Michael. RIP Laura
