@themandotcom Yes - you're doing the inward classic snare. A general rule of thumb is that for most inward snares you can't hum as well.

@FatTonyBBX I got this one snare, I haven't heard it in beatboxing yet. But it's a tounge-snare. It's very efficient when humming, and I think it is more practical than the lip snare and sounds better. I pretty much do it like the hi-hat you make when humming. Except, rather than using the tip of my tongue , I use the sides. And it comes out with a decent snare sound. Can you tell me if there is an official name for this technique?

@kingcontyz Treat it more like a click than a rimshot, but honestly it's far better to just learn the classic snare. Humming with a rimshot always sounds awful, with absolutely no exceptions.

@jong12341 the pf or classic snare normally uses your lungs. but if your humming you cant use your lungs for other things so what u should do is use the air in your mouth like he says. but i still cant do it..

I get by power for the kick drum from my lungs. I'm not really understanding the humming from the nose. I can do it but i must be doing it wrong because when i use the kick drum it falls apart to lung power again. Should i get to the point where i don't need my lungs for it kick drum?

@08tellie It took me over 8 months to get the classic snare down, so don't be disheartened! Just consider it a tighter kick drum and it should be fine :)

I can make a drum sound but not as powerful and cool as when i'm not humming, i mean it's like "pwut" lol, when i do a classic snare or kick "B" and "P.." without humming, i stop breathing (inspiration nor expiration) to make it powerful like you. If i don't i cant have enough power to push air strongly to make my lips do the sound, it sounds like SHIT lol

Tony, this is frustrating me to no end. When I hum and attempt a bass drum or snare, I cease humming and instead redirect the airflow to create a more forceful sound.

I figured out how to maintain the hum, but the bass and snare end up sounding like wet flatulence.

Do you need crazy cheek muscles to accomplish this?

@HaloLaiRx Hmm, hard to say. Remember that the snare is done in pretty much the same way as the kick drum, only tighter - if you can do one, you can certainly do the other. Just practice :)

@Lukecregan1994 Try the tutting method - if you're having trouble doing it at the front of your mouth you can tut using the top of your mouth instead. Doesn't sound as sharp but it works!

That's an unusual problem but I can't see it being too much of a hassle. Practice and find a way of humming that suits you - even if it involved closing one of your nostrils with a finger.
