  • i know this sound stupid but do you play this like wii tennis?(i dont have a wii ok so thats why im asking)

  • Epic narrating! Epic game! Epic Music!

  • this game is a waste od money....

  • I think nintendo really screwed up this one, in real tennis, you cant take your sweet old time and whack a first serve wherever you want. The n64 and gamecube version really kept this property, on the wii however, the serves are so slow its impossible to ace and a doesn't provide any advantage to the server at all, its as if he is being co-operative...

  • The graphics are a whole lot better than the N64 version

  • The dude sounds like that black kid on Jimmy Neutron.....

  • Thanks for making this video :D I was a bit confused with how the control schemes were described on wikipedia and other places but ure explanation cleared it up :D Much appreciated ^____^

  • No problem!

  • can u unlock petey and wiggler etc in this one 2?

  • Yes it's the same game.

  • Hey I'm just curios does the Wii version still allow a Gamecube controller conectivity?

  • NO GC surpport

  • meh.........

  • very helpful good to kno ty

  • online play would have made this game better, but if they do make a Mario Tennis Wii, it has to have online play, or else it would end up just being like this game right now. So lets just all hope that if Nintendo makes a new tennis, it has online play.

  • Good vids, so in your opinion does the matches in the Wii version get as intense as the GC version? Cuz some matches got super fast.

  • When you frist get it. Play 2 player game, and let the other person just use the wiimote. You'll get some good matches.

  • Great Video.

I was wondering if you have to use the wiimote sensor to swing. Can you change the controls so that the A button is to swing?

  • The game has 3 was to play.

Wii Tennis Style: You just swing and the game moves your guy.

Wiimote with dpad. You swing and move with Dpad.

    Wiimote and Nunchunk.

  • So with the Nunchuk, no swinging is required?

  • You still need to swing with it. Just that you move with the nunckunk.

  • So just to clear things up, it is not possible to change that at all?

For example, in Mario Kart, when you connect the nunchuk, you can steer with the analog instead turning the wheel. My question is if it is at all possible to play without having to swing the wiimote at all.

  • No the Wiimote is the only way to swing your racket. The nunchunk will move your character. If you don't have the nunchunk in. The cpu will control your character like Wii Tennis.

  • That sounds pretty awful. In your honest opinion, do you think I would be better off getting the wii version, or the gamecube version with a couple of gamecube controllers?

It seems like with the wii your arm would get tired after 30 minutes.

  • Ok I have both versions. So i'm going to keep it real.

The GC version is easier to play. It feels quicker. Because you have to use one hand to move and the other to swing. The wii version is not a out the box and play game. You will have to practice. When you get it done it is a rewarding experience. If you don't have the time then get the GC.

  • Does it feel quicker, or is it quicker overall? I've been watching you play both in your comparison video over and over again. It seems like the speed of the ball is much faster in the GC version.

  • Sorry If I ask to many questions. The game will be in stores tomorrow so I will most likely pick it up since it's only 30 bucks. The last mario tennis I played was the N64 one and I thought it was great. A lot of people are saying the controls are terrible in this, but I'm guessing they just play for 10 minutes and give up. So I'm going on your word alone here.

  • NP,

I have seen the reviews and totally disagree with them. Mario Tennis on GC is the best. The control with a wavebird is perfect. This game is more then a GC with thrown on Wii controls. They tried and did a good job. Is it perfect no, but it really works. You just have to sit down and play it.

  • So I have pre-ordered this game, and i live in Australia. Will i have a japanese version or a english version?

  • English version.

  • Good, PHEW!

    Is this game fun?

    Is waluigi good?

  • I like it and believe it's just as fun as the GC one. Play the game using the new controls vs someone playing the wii tennis style. It's a challenge at the same time rewarding.

  • what i want to know is if we can still use the gamecube controls because i have family that come over sometimes and i dont have many wiimotes

  • Is it better then using a gamecube controller? Nice video btw, but I wish they would of added on online play :(.

  • The gamecube will feel faster. Just because it's easier to press buttons. This game has a learning curve, but once you learn. You will feel better as a player. To be able to master moving your Character with the nunchuk, and doing all the shots. Makes your feel like you are doing something.

  • no more ports for fucks sake

  • OMG I love this game! I might get it since I don't have the GC version!

  • G4tv said in their review that this game has terrible controls, worse than the gamecube version, and that this game is a let down rather than an enhancement and a waste of money. How true is that??

  • Just the response video. In the 3rd video after finally playing for a while. I got the control down. There is a learning curve , but after you figure it out. You can do everything you could on the GC.

  • Do you know how to do the specials and maybe could you do a menu translation?

  • how cool would it be if the "new play control" games for wii had wifi play? metroid prime 2's multiplayer would be a lot more enjoyable lol

  • D:

    NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO

I don't wanna a clone of the gamecube version.......

Oh well, Thanks for making this vid!

  • Can´t wait to see the Wii version of Metroid Prime. Are you getting it?

  • Not sure yet. I might!

  • No this is just a port up of the gamecube game. Maybe if we get a true sequel.

  • May I ask how you control the direction of the ball?

I hope it uses the same "timing" system from Wii tennis, in that the earlier you swing, the more angle you get.

Somehow I doubt it though, as all the tennis games since then have disappointed.

Can you compare the Nunchuck + Wiimote method with Top SPin 3,, which also uses that method?

I found that it was ok using the joystick to control movement, but the Wii Tennis style of timing it was a hell of a lot more satisfying.

  • Click the response video and then the next one. That video shows me moving the ball. You have to be set. Then when before you swing. Move the control in the direction you want. If you play with just the Wiimote you should get the same WiiTennis style.

  • You swing with the Wiimote no matter what. You use the nunchuk to control your character. Just the Wiimote you use can use the Dpad on the Wiimote. You can also just not touch anything and the computer will move you guy like Wiisports Tennis.

  • Mario Power Tennis is the only Gamecube game i really wanted but never purchased, and it was so hard to find, now im glad i never did. Time to buy it in march!

  • so it come out to you in march too in europe it came out 6 march

  • Thanks for the comparisons!

  • kool

  • With all controls you have to swing the Wiimote?

    Thanks ^^

    Sorry for my poor english...

  • Wiimote, Wiimote using the Dpad on it, and Wiimote on Nunchuk.

  • so how do you active your super attack move and defesne move? with the mote and chuck?

  • The B button actives it.

  • So is wiimote + d-pad sideways (sort of like MArio baseball)?

  • Not really I held the wiimote normally at the same time had my finger on the D-pad. It's hard, but not impossible.

  • In this video I play a match of Mario Tennis using the 3 control types of the game.

Wiimote: The computer moves character like Wii sports.

Wiimote plus D pad: Use the Wiimote Dpad to move character. Really Hard

    Wiimote and Nunchuk

B button activates the Super Move.

  • Just to let you guys know. I just got the game today. So my skill with the Wiimote is not up too par.
