I was born & raised in Toledo & moved away 25 yrs ago. I miss Toledo only because my family is there. It's went down hill as far as unity, culture & political stance in helping the people. Recently laid off cops in the midst of increased joblessness, crime, gang activity has surged. Get rid of the Mayor who is clearly more for the rich and not the economically depressed. Then things will change for better instead of going downhill. He has Alzheimers. sorry but he does not care.
It is unfortunately that Toledo had to lay off cops. Its a known fact that crime rises in a poor economy. Jobs leaving America is hurting Toledo. A job leaving takes taxes that pay for public services (schools). Unfortunately this is happening all over the country not just Toledo. What can Carty do about companies leaving? He cant make them stay, just like people you cant make them stay.
I have to admit some of Toledo isnt that great but hey any medium sized city like ours has its bad parts. I personely live in one of the nice parts near the Franklin Park Mall. Dont Dis the glass city its a great place to live!
Have you gone to our art museum or Zoo; are rated top 10 in the nation.
Our metro parks fortunate to have so many that are maintained have walking, bike trails. For culture I see and feel many cultures and appreciate the diversity. Did you get to experience Meet and Greet? All the art galleries are open down town and the Toledo University donates buses for free transportation. Sorry about your experience in Toledo. I have pride in my Toledo and live in Toledo not the suburbs.

I agree with you about the zoo, the museum, the metro parks, etc. But how often can you go to those places before you get tired of them. Toledo needs more culture and nicer people. lets stop our city leaders who are tearing down Toledo brick by brick taking our history away our city away. Milwaukee boarded buildings until they could afford to fixs them. Vacant lots unused parking lots full of weeds garbage I dont think that looks better than a boarded up building. At least with a building theres a visual image of hope, of growth again. We want changes we have make change. Support Downtown Toledo, support our local retailers.
