  • Hey great job man! im a guitar player who has been playing for 9 yearsloves rush, my brother is a bass player who also loves rush nd we were both very impressed

  • @MrBayern18

Thanks a lot and good luck to you and your brother.

  • Wow! Sounds just like the CD. I noticed you have that same kind of bright twangy sound that Geddy has. How much of that do you think is due to the fretboard being maple vice rosewood?

  • @Slowslide1969

Thanks. A lot of people say that a maple board is brighter than a rosewood but if you put the two side to side, wore a blindfold and listened to both - the majority of people would not be able to hear a difference. I prefer the look of maple over rosewood myself.

  • Even though I play drums, I really enjoy watching your videos. Ive loved rush since i was about 4. Now I'm 14 so i have a really good ear while playing there songs on the drums. Seems like you do too. Excellent job.

  • @Nick2112Drums

Thanks a lot its always nice to hear from a drummer. There's so much going on in their music that it really helps to have a good ear in order to pick up on all the little details. Take care.

  • Like Simon Cowell on the bass :)

  • Excellent fretless!!!!

  • @PurdueRules15

    No fretless here.

  • BRAVO! :-)

  • @VonFrundsberg

    Thank you.

  • Great Cover. Your A Truely Dedicated Rush Fan. You could pull off every song they have and i could bet my life on that :P

BTW I Admire your Rick, how much was it. Id pick one up in the future ,if I ever get the money that is.

  • @oOSignalzOo

Thank you very much. I paid $1,100 for it in 2009 but I think the store made an error as I found out after the fact that they were going for $1,900 or more. I've recently seen them for as low as $1,500 which is closer to what I think they're worth.

  • Ur a bad ass. I love the vids man. Excellent job.

  • @Pratt81269

    Thanks.

  • can you please do a tutorial video teaching the song slowly? Thanks! Great cover!!!

  • @MrLovestodrum

Maybe in the future sometime. Do you play bass?

  • It's guys like you that make me want to play bass more. You make it seem so easy.

  • @tacolandry

Thanks a lot. I can assure that, for me, it's not easy. A lot of time and effort went into learning all these songs.

  • I got the left hand part down, but i cant get the right hand technique figured out. any adice or suggestions?

  • @Jazzman8100

    Just practice and repetition.

  • @TJH3113 Geddy use Flamenco in this one?? You eat triplets like skittles so you can pull it off. But Geddy's Flamenco style appears to make it easier once you have the technique. I need much more practice if I could even dream of it so I by no means could teach you anything. Correct with the practice and repetition. Thanks for the videos

  • @TheMooneyguy

He uses it just a bit in the section just after the main riff. Thanks.

  • Show off! ...Im talking about the masks

  • @PreparationH

    Death Studios.

  • Your obviously Geddy Lee himself in disguise.

  • @RandomGuyInAHat

    I wish.

  • wats up with the masks lol but awesome cover!!

  • @MalignantNarcissism2

    I collect them. Thanks.

  • I'm guessing that you would like to get your hands on Jaco's fretless that Ged used on the recording!!! Nice job

  • @tcaruso01

I've never been too crazy about fretless basses. I had one once and didn't keep it for very long at all. Thanks.

  • Yeah that WILL be really awesome when Fender decides to make that version of Geddy Lee sig. bass, I'm probably going to get the sunburst, though.

  • @SkittlzNinja

    Cool.

  • @vinirockband10

Thanks, that was nice of you to say.

  • You are insane!

  • @fireman4453

    Thanks?

  • Aww, man! I wish I could play the bass as well as you. I suk at this song compared to you. I can barely play this cuz I have a terrible bass and I always make mistakes when playin this.

  • @SkittlzNinja

    Thanks. Keep working at it.

  • Awesome sauce :D

  • @vineyardedge

    Thanks.

  • @hunterwmcleod

Excellent! I always like to hear that a video was of some help to another player. Keep it up.

  • Great cover! We fans are so lucky that Rush is still making fresh new music like this instead of just phoning it in like so many other old bands. Geddy and the gang just keep learning new skills on their instruments, always push themselves and never just coast along. And Geddy's newest basslines are just as cool as his older ones.

  • @RCAvhstape

Thanks. You're right, we are very lucky that RUSH is still putting out relevant music and "pushing themselves" like you said. I just find his current style of playing much more difficult to emulate. But that's my problem.

  • Nice job! Keep on making rush bass covers PLEASE. (Also, I really like your jazz bass, it's the same one I hope to get some day.)

  • @Graz92196

Thanks. Good luck on getting that Jazz bass. I'll bet they come out with one like he's currently using, with white inlays and the graphics on the pick-gaurd.

  • Wow. No wonder there are no dislikes on this! Amazing tone, technique, everything. I just posted my version of this last night with both guitar and bass. However my bass playing is more like guitar playing.... either way, check it out and let me know what you think!

  • @shteegilp

Thanks. I'll be sure to check your cover out.

  • sounds perfect to me, you need to change your description lol

  • @ExtraBassist

There are a couple of minor issues but thanks.

  • HEY HEY YOU DID IT! and did it freakkin well! awesome job. glad you did it! i asked awhile ago and you delivered!

  • @Sparticus3117

    Glad you liked it. Thanks.

  • Fantastic !!! Are you going to cover " Finding my way "? It is stuck in my head and I am working on the bass line at the moment. Thanks, and keep on inspiring us all.

  • @leader01939

Thanks. I wasn't planning on doing "Finding My Way" but you never know.

  • super bad ass man

  • @ThrasherAleX1

    Thanks.

  • I was so stoked when I saw that you covered this, it's one of my favorites. Plus, you did an amazing job!

  • @ChungFat4eva

Thank you very much. I haven't spent much time on their newer material so I'm a little out of my element.

  • That was beautiful! *Giggle*

Thank you very much for your dedication. And I didn't actually twist your arm. I'd never do that to you. *Smiles adorably*

No cover needs to be perfect for me. Even if it's Rush. ^_~

Me, rabid? How could you tell? *Froths at the mouth a little*

  • @EntustinMeYourLife

    Your very welcome.

I'd have to look up the correspondence but I remember a little arm twisting happening there.

I'm glad you chose a short song. Grrrr.

  • soooo easy for you

  • @Nivtop2112

Not really, I'm just glad it was only two minutes and change.

  • @TJH3113 No no... If I can learn it, it is just a piece of cake for you. ;-)

  • no!!!!!!!! I lie again 98%, the last note of the song is (slide harmonic) hahahahaha (dont worry) You know very well that you are the best!!

  • @duilkin

When you mentioned the slide-harmonic on your Paul Young/Pino cover the other day I said to myself, "Oh shit, that's what must be at the end of Malignant Narcissism."

It was too late by that time. I'll have to see if I can figure out how to do one.

    Thanks.

  • no! I lie, 99% (fretless bass) ;-)

  • you make this song at 100% detail!!!!!! greeeeat job!!!

  • @duilkin

I'm a little out of my comfort zone with this one.

  • Great Job!

  • @Bassist1945

    Thanks.

  • Somehow I feel like I've said this before... I love the sound of your instruments and your playing style. You make it look so easy and comfortable.

  • @vtx1300dave

    Thank you.

  • And I though I had it down almost perfect... I guess not quite. Haha... Nice job - I guess I need to work on it more

  • @chrisrusty99

    Thanks.

  • nice cover!! when you have time please record a bass cover of one little victory

  • @Marcotps3

Thank you. I haven't had a chance to listen to that song but I will.

  • Great to see your Fender Jazz. Love the tone. I also like the sunburst look instead of the solid black.

The cover was a real treat to watch and listen. I would love you hear you play the song on Jaco's Fretless bass.

    Awesome job as usual.

    Thanks for sharing with us.

  • @constantine2112

Thank you Constantine. The Fender needs its truss rod adjusted as it's getting a bit "clacky". I've been putting it off because I hate having to remove the neck to do it. I'm thinking about having a channel routed so adjustments can be made with the neck on.

I like the sunburst as well.

I had a fretless long ago and never used it.

  • :)

    Much enjoyed. Nice job Troy

  • @wnils

Thanks Nils. I used your video as one of my references. I'm a bit weak on the newer stuff. It takes a lot of time and patience for me to learn a song from scratch and those two commodities (time and patience) always seem to be in short supply around here.

  • awesome been waiting for this one!!

  • @vectron12

I wasn't planning on doing it but I was threatened.

  • Yeeeeesssss!

  • @k726able

    Thanks.

  • Sweet.

  • @kalisota

    Thank you.
