Anyone that puts an M16 on a list of top100 guns, has either never shot a rifle or is a complete idiot. AK-47 is a little better, but it is obsolete. Ak has a good reliability and excellent stopping power, but over 100 yards, no way you hit anything.
For me top weapon would be ak AK74, with a accurate range to 400 yards, same reliability as AK-47, and same ease of cleaning as Ak47. AK-74 should take spots 1-10 in a top 10 assault rifles ever.

@ltveco8 ive been in military school for 13 years. i recently moved with my mom to arizona. they teach us how to mantain, feild strip, shooting from all 3 positions, and cleaning your rifle. the m16a1 is standerd issued, unless your in special forces.

A lot of these models are just variations of other models; HK36/XM8, AR15/HK416. I've seen some bad reports on the Tavor & a review of the HK36 that lowers it to the "average" level instead of the greatness automatically associated with all things H&K. Of course, I haven't been able to get my hands on either of them so I'll take the critique of the Tabor with a grain of salt, the HK36 came from a reliable source.
For me it's the ACR, it's reliable, you can change the barrel length in like 30 seconds, lets say 8 inch to a 10.5 inch (their is much more then that) and you can change the caliber to a 5.56x45 to a 7.62x39 (their more calibers also) in like a minute.

In the Summer 2007 test by the u.s army, M16 rifles and M4 carbines recorded a total of 307 stoppages. In the Fall 2007 test, the XM8 recorded only 127 stoppages in 60,000 total rounds while the M4 carbine had 882.!! The FN SCAR had 226 stoppages and the HK416 had 233 !! so you ask your self why didnt the u.s army buy the xm8 ?? its the price $3714 each .

Face-palm and shaking my head, not at the video, but at half the comments here. The video may not be 100%, but many of you guys need to get off the couch/computer chair and go shoot a rifle before making un-educated comments based upon what you read on Wikipedia, watched in a promotional video on Youtube or heard from a friend who heard from a friend who knows a guy who once talked to someone who shot a rifle that may or may not have been the one in question... just sayin.

In the Summer 2007 test by the u.s army, M16 rifles and M4 carbines recorded a total of 307 stoppages. In the Fall 2007 test, the XM8 recorded only 127 stoppages in 60,000 total rounds while the M4 carbine had 882.!! The FN SCAR had 226 stoppages and the HK416 had 233 !! so you ask your self why didnt the u.s army buy the xm8 ?? its the price $3714 each .

@medadoodie The old m16's had bad gunpowder inside and malfunctioned because the gunpowder jammed.
HK416 and G36C have Past SOCOM testing; submerge gun till no bubbles, take out of water than shoot.
HK will shoot fine but m4+m16 will explode at the rear(not huge explosion).

the m16 is one of the shitest one's of them all no it is the shitest one of them all the best rifle is gas piston it does not matter if it is short stroke or long stroke piston the gas pistion is the best because the carbon from the round does not fuck up the bolt the m16 uses the Direct impingement system which is why it fucked up so bad and the ak-47 which used the Long-stroke piston system did not fuck up all the time and is still used

The XM8 is still a prototype
There are two variants of the FN Scar and you put pictures of both of them
The Tavor is a good weapon and modern. Thank god you put in 2 good modern weapons the tavor and the aug

Not to mention it was never out of prototype because it was beaten by SCAR variants as the new standard issue rifle of the US military. This was relatively recent but the SCAR is slowly replacing the M16 and M4

Where are these assault rifles you speak of? i just saw a lot of pictures of combat rifles, most of them built of the original Armalite Rifle model 15 platform.
if you haven't gotten the point yet, Assault Rifle is an inaccurate term. they are tools built for combat, not toys used to assault people.

Why isn't the SCAR-Heavy number one? That gun wouldn't jam if you fucking put it in a melting furnace. And why not the Styer 77? The AUG has like 20 different variants. Glad to see he picked the REC7 but he probably doesn't know what it is. And I'd take an HK417 over the 416. Larger bullet. More damage.
