If illegals turn legal, they will not work for below average wages for long and in effect negate the reason why businesses hire them in the first place. Yes, both Paul and Carlos are human beings, but human beings created laws for a reason: To be followed! This way society funcitons properly. If a law is not working then its CITIZENS need to change them. Until then foreigners coming to the USA illegally are that ILLEGAL! US sitizens that hire illegal immigrants are breaking the law! My parents use to tell me,"Son you might not like the law, but the law is the LAW!

Most people from other countries wait years to enter legally, why should there be an exception? I also agree voting laws should be tighten. I didn't even have to show my ID to vote. I have to show my ID just to get a library card but not to vote? What's with that?

Such a naive & simplist view. Legal vs. Illegal. If people what them here legally, then change the laws. Until then, they're still illegal! We're paying for them every step of the way. Why should we have to work so our taxes can send their kids to school. They get freebie off our sweat. Of course, since they are here, i agree we should at least educate their kids else they just end up committing crime and in our jails.

The "argument" provided is at a 2nd grade level; someone in the 3rd grade could point out things like there are billions of people worse off than "Carlos" and they can't all come here, or the role of the Mexican government in their situation.

Carlos needs to stay in his own country if he possibly can . He can come over here and work legally. If he wants to become a citizen (he is welcome)he needs to get in line. He should not sneak into this country because it is against our laws. If we go to his country and break the law we go to jail. U.S. imigration laws are there to protect its citizens from foreign invasion. If we are over run with another culture it will destroy ours.

When the Indians got in the Pilgrims' way, the Pilgrims simply killed them. ...and I don't need your feeble attempt at a civics lesson. Laws are created and manipulated by those in power to service whatever the need for the day happens to be. (See: COMMUTATION.) We have a law in place to deal with this issue called the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, but nobody enforces it because it's not fiscally advantageous. And, by the way, we simply did kill them. Not all of them...just enough of them so they wouldn't keep us from doing what we wanted.

This is also substantiated by people who have been called to jury duty
(taken from the voter registration roles) in Multnomah County, (Portland) OR,
who asked to be excused because they are not citizens. By the way, that's a Felony.
To make it worse, after confessing in open court that they are here illegally,
and have committed a felony by registering to vote(and maybe actually voting)
they are not arrested. The courts are also showing a complete disregard for the law.

My ancestors came to the U.S. in the 1700's. Because I was born in the U.S.,I have been blessed with the RIGHT to look for work here. I don't have that right in any other county in the world. If I did without the proper papers, I would be thrown in jail, wouldn't I?

The house analogy has been used a couple times, but really doesn't make sense. Mexicans are coming across the border because people are hiring them. If they weren't being hired, they wouldn't be coming over here. In a sense, we are asking them to come here. If you want to stop paying them to come here, you should boycott all of the products they help produce. It may be hard to eat, however...

Bullshit, the work would get done, and wouldnt cost much more to consumers.
We barely had any Mexican illegals in my town until around 2001/02, when contractors started hiring them for construction. They justification was their cheap labor would make homes cheaper to build, but the cost of building per square foot and nearly doubled in the area since then.

If you want peace, you should have respect for other people, even if you don't agree with them. Building a metal border is not very respectful. There should be a diffrent solution to this problem, e.g. negotiation about the cooperation between the North-America and Mexico to build a strong social network where people have education, good jobs and welfare.

i also live in oregon and know someone who scams the system. how she is able to get welfare on top of child support and her hubby making almost twice what i do, is beyond me. when clinton was in office we were working on this; the last 6 years who cares, i just dont understand why giving away money is always blamed on democrats. and welfare problems are always blamed on poor people. look at those dozen ppl you mentioned---they're not poor ppl are they? exactly.
