What did you try b4 your lap band surgery to lose the weight ? I'm in the early stage of (thinking) of weight loss surgery kinda at a loss for words so manny ???? my bmi is 41.5 I'm 42 years old male and a smoker puts me at high risk ty for your time
I didn't have lap band, I had RNY gastric bypass surgery. :) I tried pretty much everythign before surgery: weight watchers, jenny craig, curves, etc. I'd always lose a little bit, but could never keep it off. I do know that they require that you quit smoking in order to have the surgery. Hope that helps, and best wishes!
Thank you so much for sharing each step of your journey. Having a first-hand account of an WLS life clears away so much of the fear of the unknown. It also helps me, personally, to understand what my friend is going through and what she has to look forward to. Thank you for sharing the physical and emotional/mental sides of your journey. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Aww, thank you so much for this comment. I really appreciate the support and the kind words. Also, I think it shows what a great friend you are to research and learn about what your friend is going through. We should all be lucky enough to have a friend like that! :)
Also I was alowed solid (soft) food after about two weeks (cottage cheese other soft cheeses, etc) and IT HURT MY TUMMY but I have DS not RNY but its probably the same
OMG I SOOOO FELT LIKE THIS. i regretted it for LIKE 2-3MONTHS! I hated my life. You can tell your friend to look @ my early vids. Not sleeping well is normal to because of the pain... Eatting hurt. I slept in a chair sitting up.
lol..I too stole "hot mess"...it sneaks out sometimes. Too funny. Hope you had a nice evening out. I'm due for one too but no evening sitters here so it might be awhile before we have a date night..boo hoo!
I felt the exact same way at that stage of the game. I was really sore for weeks and didn't honestly feel completely "normal" until about 6 weeks but at that point, it was a total overnight turnaround and I was fine. I'm 16 wks now and feel AWESOME! I even went through the "regret"and "what did I do to myself" stage right at the same point you are so don't fret. I promise, it will get better!!! ; )
I am 13 days out and I feel great. I have absolutley no regrets. Now if I could get to the puree stage I will be grateful. I did not experience any pain at all. I did have a little discomfort but that is it. I hope the person who wrote you is feeling better.
taunia, what a wonderful absoloutley true response to someone/the community! it is so overwhelming and those feelings are so normal. if anyone is reading this that is pre or new post op i slept in a recliner with a pillow on each side of me for 6 weeks. oh, and don't miss your pain doses...meaning just because you dont have pain after 4 hours dont say to urself oh i dont need it yet-BIG MISTAKE! take it reguardless!
I'm out 5 months. i slept in a recliner. I was weak for 6 weeks and thought I killed myself. It does go away. i agree that you should go slow because the pouch is so tender. Best wishes to the newbies!
I am 4 weeks out - vertical sleeve surgery, not bypass, so some things are going to be different. One thing isn't - while in the hospital days 2 and 3 - I asked myself "What the hell did you do?" I couldn't sleep, was in pain, etc. A week later - no trouble! And 50 pounds lost later, that time in the hospital is a blur!
This is SO worth it. You will get to eat again. Until then, just know that you made a GREAT decision for your health and longevity.
I had surgery dec 1 2009 and was a size 30 but i'm in a 15/16 can wear a 13/14 but its tight ohhhhhh my god I would haver been able to cope if it wasn't for you and your videos and a few other youtubers. I NEVER wore makeup or fixed my hair just didn't feel like it but now as soon as I wake up my feet on the ground before coffee I have to fix my hair and makeup who would of thought????
Thanks for letting me know what to expect. This is so helpful. I am going through surgery (gastric bypass) on July 8, 2009 and I am watching these videos to educate myself by those who have been through it!
Taunia, do you have alot of excess skin hanging? If not have you been doing exercises to help tighten things up, and if yes could you tell us what they are? Thanks!
Funny you speak of Ambien....I took that once AND NEVER AGAIN WILL I...I immediately had hallucinations LOL Its interesting how we each tolerate things differently!
5 huge stars, yes what they are feeling is compleately normal, BTW I am obbsessed with makeup too, i think it might be my transfer addication, I just got my first haul from ELF and I love there makeup this far and it is so very expensive. My hair does the hot mess stuff too when it's hot out side, but I dont think u look like a hot mess, but I know I do, it might be a blond thing, (=
As far as the email you received, "What they are feeling is very super normal." Take care girl..Kristy

I'm a little makeup obsessed righ now. Nothing crazy, but compared to before surgery, obsessed.
Almost everyone I know had a 'OMG, what have I done to myself' moment post-op. Great advice!
Ambien is scary stuff for some people. But I'm glad it works so well for you.
take care - jenn
